We had a terrific time. The Hotel was clean and had spacious rooms with beautiful ocean views The scuba trip to Renggis island ( which is just in front of the hotel) was the best part. Beautiful ocean clean blue water and lots of marine life. We saw turtles, loads of fish, beautiful coral and some sharks. Our dive instructor was great. Just snorkeling in front of the hotel on our own was very good too. Only negative was sand flies but with insect repellant it was not a problem. I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to come back! The staff were helpful and friendly especially the activity crew for renting equipment, planning trips, giving advice on snorkeling etc. Dining at local restaurants right outside the hotel grounds was good and so was the hotel food. Reasonable prices and good service. Tioman Island it a place you must visit and staying here was the perfect location on the island. The ferry ride and the whole process of getting to tioman is tricky but it is worth the effort! Thanks Berjaya Tioman!
A Relaxing Week @ Berjaya Tioman Resort!”
Wow! What a great week we had at the Berjaya Tioman Resort! I must admit I was a bit sceptical going to Berjaya Tioman due to some of the reviews that I had read, so I went with no expectations. But I can honestly say that our time there was nothing below wonderful! We were picked up from the airport & dropped at the reception. Check-in was quick & easy & we were offered a room upgrade for a small amount (which we paid for) so we ended up in a room 10 steps off the beach. The room was large (as was the comfortable king size bed) and room service staff did a good job cleaning up each day. The beach was clean and the water crystal clear. There were always plenty of reclinable beach chairs and little "huts" along the beach for shade. The pool was also nice but we preferred swimming at the beach. The food & service were also good. Reasonable prices for food on most nights saw the two of us fed . Loved the food and service over at the Fortune Court Chinese Restaurant. I will be recommending this resort to family & friends and would not hesitate in staying there again.
Beautiful island for snorkeling, beautiful resort”
my room was upgrade to superior and the resort welcome us with a surprise chocolate heart shape cake, yummy, its our wedding anniversary. our honeymoon 14 years back was also at the same island and of course at the same resort. my choice is always berjaya for my hotel accommodation whenever visiting tioman island. berjaya tioman resort & spa is the best choice when stay in the island. a big 5 star resort with all basic facilities we need while on vacation. its safe to move around the resort. i really enjoy the beach, you can just seat back and relax by the beach for hours, snorkeling at the renggis island with beautiful fishes just around you, swimming together with you. even we can find fishes by the beach side regardless no rain, the water clear by the beach side when no rain. try to avoid november and december cause its rainy season. we also enjoying breakfast and dinner at sri nelayan restaurant. but ala carte food from the restaurant not that good when we tried for lunch. we found a small food stall just outside the resort, recommended by other guest, we tried for lunch on the second day, the food good and of course much cheaper. but the quality of the food better than the price at this small stall. the surrounding is very clean, fully recommended for people on holiday, honeymoon, family day. just for people need to have a good rest and away from routine busy day but not for shopaholic, no where to shop, except small souvenir item at the shop next to the airport or in-front of the jetty but not much choice. the service is excellent, from the lobby, during check-in, the staff very warm and sri nelayan restaurant receptionist very friendly, patience explained to us the promotion they offered. the housekeeper and bellboy service also friendly and warm. just during check-out, the staff maybe having her hard time, i guess, very hard to see her beautiful smile on her face. overall, i will be coming back again to the resort with my family soon.
Beautiful nature, lovely hotel”
We stayed at Berjaya Tioman Resort 5 days as part of our honeymoon. The front desk staff were not too friendly when we arrived, but the rest of our stay, we only met smiling and friendly staff, especially at the restaurant. We had booked one of the sea-view chalets, which was fine, but we had expected it to be full sea-view, which it wasnt. It was close to the pool and the restaurant, which was great. We were lucky to get a deal, where scuba diving and snorkeling, as well as dinner every evening, was included in the room price. This was the reason we thought we got value for our money. The beaches were quite disappointing, and not at all like in the pictures. The bathrooms was not satisfactory, even in the newly renovated room. We had ants, and the bathtub was worn out and the shower head broken. We went to the other side of the Island, to Juara beach, which was much much better, and a lot more secluded. All in all, we had a nice stay. NOTICE: There are a lot of sandflies on the beaches of Tioman, so do not forget bug spray!!
Beautiful Barjaya Tioman!”
This was by far the best accomodations on tioman island, and well worth the extra money. Everywhere else we saw had no ac, private restroom, many with no air conditioning.... definatley stay at berjaya to be comfortable! Cold ac, great location, delicious free breakfast buffet, large rooms (chalet) very private and relaxing. Rengis island is right off shore of the resort, you can rent reasonably priced kayaks to go out there and snorkel the best reef on tioman! Turtles, rays, many fish! We loved the berjaya, and it is the only place we felt safe eating-good resturant! Hope they might fix their restrooms though.... Staff was very friendly and helpful.
berjaya nresort pulau tioman malaysia”
Pulau Tioman is relatively unspoiled although a Marina and new warfage have recently been completed which is actually and improvement. The Berjaya Tioman Resort is lovely. I stay in the standard chalets which are good value, simple but very comfortable with nice bathrooms and effective split air conditioners, alternativly there are more luxurious cottage style rooms for a bid more. The Beach is endless and never more than a few people on it and the sea is glorious, sparkling clean and always 26o. I visit every few weeks and also enjoy it in the wetter season around Jan/ Feb when it is a lot quieter. All in all a great place for a break and it's duty free so drinks etc are very cheap.
Good place to chill out”
I have fine two days in Berjaya Tioman Resort. The beach is very nice, the water is crystal blue, the room is very spacious, the environment is very beautiful, the service is impeccable and the food is very fabulous. It is a wonderful place to chill out. But Tioman island is quite far away from Singapore. On the first day, I got on the bus at 10 am in Singapore and checked in at 5 p.m. What a waste of day! You have to be careful about your time management
Great staff with speedy services and good manners”
The 3D2N stay at Berjaya Tioman Resort is very delightful. We arrived at noon by Berjaya air and the hotel staff is already waiting for us in the arrival gate. Check-in was fast and the hotel staff responded to our request to change to another room very quickly and we also found them very useful whenever we made a request like booking the spa, new towels, room clean up and bell services etc. The room are comfortable and clean, hot water probably need some upgrading as we found that we need to wait some time after one's shower for the next one to have sufficient hot water supply. The spa message we have as part of the package was excellent and the food provided in the Thai and Indian restaurants was also exceptionally good as well.
Probably the best place to stay at Tioman”
I’ve been to tioman numerous times over 20 years and stayed in chalets set up by the local island people. This is my first time staying in Berjaya Tioman Resort. First reason why I shifted attention to here is because of the price. Surprisingly, its only slightly more expensive than some local chalets. But after taking into account the other things that you get for paying a few ringgit more such as free
Dear Zairil, Thank you for the great review of our resort! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon. Sincerely, Guest Relations Service
When took ferry from Mersing jetty to Tioman Island, the ferry slightly dated but have air con and comfortable. When we reached Tekek jetty, the one near to the resort, resort staff were ready with transport to send us to resort. Check in staff was very friendly and helpful. We booked for three person room, last minute increased to four persons, hotel staff helpfully arrange suitable room and additional beddings. Also she noted we have one elderly person in the group, she helpfully assigned a room that is near to the restaurant and pool area. When we reached the room we noted some sand on the floor, upon request, the cleaning lady, quickly cleaned up for us, which we appreciated. The room is villa style, the front door opens up to a an absolutely amazing sea view. We spent some time taking strolling at the beach and taking photos. Then we we had a short lunch at the restaurant, which is next to pool and has great seaview. After lunch, we changed our clothes and had a dip at the spa pool, the spa pool has water jet massage function which was very comfortable and relaxing. After that we went to the beach for a swim, however the tide receded, left with sharp rocks at the beach which is not suitable for swimming. We found a short shallow stretch with very smooth and soft sand, we sat there for a while and let the waves wash over. The view was amazing and feeling was great! A great family moment there. After that we went back to enjoy the spa pool again for sometime. We had the whole spa pool for ourselves! Not many people there due to it was not peak season. Towards the evening, we view sunset at the pool, it was great view. After that, we took shower and got ready for dinner. We went to a seaview Thai restaurant in the resort, the decor was very romantic, very suitable for couples. The food was great but slightly pricey. We heard sound of waves lapping the beach during our dinner, which was very soothing. The hotel room was very comfortable we had a great night sleep
Dear Wai, Thank you for the great review of our hotel! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and surely hope to see you and your family again very soon. Sincerely, Guest Relations Service
I traveled with my beloved for 3 days 2 nights, so for the first time we have visited Tioman, there was nice greeting and such a fast check in, without any problem. Hotel is located nearby beach and have a very gorgeous view on the nature. When we first saw our villa. PS most of the hotels consist of small houses, room was very clean and just nice. I will tell you shortly what you should try there "Golf", common guys where could you play golf in an island? if you are lucky you can even see some varan and monkeys in the hotel area. Definitely try snorkeling there, awesome view on corals and different variety of fish. Also, there is a jungle trip to the forest, usually in the morning as well as snorkeling. As for food, you better go outside of the hotel to try fish at the nearest restaurants, fish fresh and staff very polite. Overall, trip was good. PPs try to manage your trip using flight to Tioman island (just 40 minutes), otherwise you will be very exhausted. Don't forget about souvenirs for your family and friends, probably you will be interesting in "duty free" on any type of alcohol and cigarette. Not to mentioned, that you need booked your trip by at list 1 month before, to save some money, which then you could spend on some souvenirs. Hope it helps. Have a nice trip
Great Weekend Getaway from Singapore”
As New Yorkers who used to escape the city for the mountains on weekends, we figured that, living in Singapore, we should try a weekend getaway in Pulau Tioman, which we are now affectionately referring to as "The Catskills of Singapore." Berjaya seems to be the Mohonk of Tioman...yes, it had it's heyday twenty some odd years ago and yes, the rooms are a bit frayed on the edges, but it's still an unbeatable experience to explore a truly beautiful Island. And who wants to spend time in the room when you have jungle treks, spa treatments, snorkeling, diving, poolside sunning, swimming in the South China Sea, etc. all to pack in in one weekend? (That said, despite some of the reviews to the contrary, there wasn't a single time that we didn't appreciate the cool comfort of the room and collapse on the bed in the wonderful air-conditioning after hours of play in the heat.) The grounds are lovely, the amenities top notch and the staff friendly and helpful. We loved the morning jungle trek and the snorkeling - which is an easy five-minute boat ride from the shore - is some of the best I've done. The spa services are a bit pricier than you see elsewhere in SE Asia, but still worth it. A relaxing and delightful experience all around. We'll be back and will recommend to others - including those with kids.
Everything you need, but the best is out the gates”
berjaya resort is huge, and really set up for people who want everything they need at one place. all easily available, without experiencing too much of the real malaysia or tioman island. amazingly clean and very spacious rooms (we had a superior chalet) and over the top breakfast buffets with all kinds of foods. to really enjoy tioman (and pay less for food and drinks) you need to leave the resort and get outside the gates.
Visited Tioman with my wife and four year old daughter. All of us had a great time. I strongly reccomend this place for a nice relaxing stay. The rooms were a bit old and had plenty of ants in the washroom but other than this there is nothing really to complain about. Breakfast was nice (they bent their rules I guess and let my daughter eat for free because she was too small!)and staff was exceptionally freindly and helpful. Staff could communicate well in english and in several cases also in hindi! Private beach was nice and so was the swimming pool. Pool side bar is excellent. Both 'Sri Nelayan' and 'Corriander seeds' were excellent restaurants (would reccomend tha later for dinner, especially for Indian food...ate their every night). Stayed for a good 3 nights and 4 days and did not want to leave. Will visit Berjaya@Tioman again.
Berjaya Tioman April 2015”
Good except that we were put into a back room for the first night as they didn't have one with a double bed where we'd booked. They weren't going to move us until we asked - only then did they do so and we got the room we booked (closer to sea). Not much help with luggage when moving / checking out. Check in and out not so efficient, also we waited for the shuttle in the blazing heat at the ferry terminal for a long time. But these are "island" experiences and all in all Berjaya Tioman is a great place. BIG PROBLEM is getting there and for that reason will probably never go back. Ferry check-in procedure is apalling, ferry late, buses connecting back to Singapore are late and badly organised, confusion reighns. Took us 12 hours to get back to Singapore on 12th April 2015. That's just not on - should be 6 hours tops.
Pro: Friendly staff, complimentary land shuttle service from jetty to hotel and hotel to jetty. Nice breakfast , lunch and dinner. Good snorkeling tour( have to pa for it） Room: ( deluxe chalet)comfortable, spacious, clean, quite, well maintained. I booked 1 room with king size bed and pay for an extra bed. I was surprised and happy as I was given a room with king size bed and added on a super single bed ( for my 11 year old son) and a baby cot for my 6 months old baby. Con: there were sandflies on the beach. I really like to walk along beach side unfortunately I will developed skin allergy reaction when bitten by sand flies. The management did provide antisand flies spray station which allocates only at certain area along the beach. If you are going to Berjaya Tioman, you can use Cataferry services. It is a bigger ferry, clean, friendly staff , comfortable seat and most importantly less feeling of seasickness.
Trip to Berjaya - February 2010”
I stayed at Berjaya Tioman Island Resort in February 2010 for Chinese New Year with my brother and his family. When we arrived a few days before CNY, the main pool water slide was broken and there seemed to be no plan to get it repaired. My sister in law complained strongly about this to the hotel staff and it was then repaired within a couple of days. I think if it had been out of action for CNY when the resort had 700 guests staying, there would have been a small riot! The food is not great and can work out to be quite expensive. However the Thai restaurant is excellent and well worth the money. Best to go outside the resort to the Chinese restaurant. Its very easy to get a taxi from the main gate. The rooms are comfortable, clean but a little "worn". However I understand the whole resort is being refurbished in 2011 which will make a real difference. The bicycles for hire are so old that they are bordering on dangerous. My niece's bike had virtually no brakes so she had to be very careful going downhill! Also the Games room is not very well equipped and there are no board games available. The staff member on the Activities desk said this was because they had been stolen by previous guests. However I would think that board games are not that expensive to replace for a resort of this size! The staff are friendly but rather slow to serve. The breakfast is the best meal available in the resort. I highly recommend the half day snorkelling trip to 3 islands. Not highly recommended though is the lack of advice from the tour guide to put 30+ sunblock on backs of legs. Myself and several other snorkellers got horribly burnt and thus could not sit down for rest of week - ouch! The pool area is great for kids but there are not enough sunbeds. Its the old "get your towels on bed at dawn" scenario to get one! However the surroundings are beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and we generally had a good time.
Best Hotel on Tioman”
We have been here in late February 2010. Overall we spent 3 days in Panuba Inn Hotel and 3 days in Berjaya. In short - Panuba had snorkeling right near the hotel and wilderness atmosphere, while Berjaya is for relaxing by the pool/beach. Berjaya Tioman Resort is a world-class hotel, vast area, excellent food, clean rooms and friendly staff.
Our annual trip to Tioman Island and will never missed out this hotel. This is one of the best place to be in Tioman Island. Restaurant staff are very attentive and they clean the table all the time and good service. Huge compound and perhaps need motorbike or bicycle to move around within the resort lol. Golf course, dive center and other resort facilities... Good for corporate retreat too.
Nice and comfortable chalet with great beach view”
It was our honeymoon holiday and we are glad that we have chosen Berjaya Tioman Resort. It is a quiet, serene with beautiful ocean view spot in Tioman. Recommended place for honeymooners, you can take long stroll along the beach or lie down on the clean sandy beach. Both of us agreed to come again with the same accommodation.
