    Wonderful Views & Reception Staff”

Arrived and the lady on reception was really helpful and friendly. The views from our room and the hotel terrace were breathtaking! Our only comment would be that the staff were so smiley throughout the hotel - apart from one on breakfast duty.

Lovely old historical hotel, free parking, bus 11 and 15 literally in front of hotel and opposite the road, very friendly staff, lovely room with distant views, great breakfast and dinner. We are absolutely happy! Thank you so much!

Stayed for one night on a late booking .Managed to get a good rate for room. Room looked to have been recently renovated and was clean and fresh. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice from buffet. Lovely views of Edinburgh from breakfast room.

    Good”

The hotel is old and lovely in a good location just 20minutes on a bus to city centre and bus stop just outside the hotel. The hotel is clean tidy and lovely rooms. The rooms get a little hot I thought at night so I would open the window before you decide to sleep. There is many stairs and no lift unfortunately for people that need one. We didn't eat in the restaurant or bar so cannot comment on the food. Its in a quiet part of town on the hill with lovely views and lovely rooms. Good for a couple of nights away and the quiet.

    Best Western Chain Reputation ify.”

Hotel with no lift and no assistance if you need to move luggage up to 3rd floor. Not bothered to change towel and bedsheets not too clean. Do not also replenish drinking water in room each day. TV also not working and though attempt to get it going or promised to get it going the next day, the no TV issue still remained.

    Best Hotel Ever”

Have stayed her before, and still one of our best hotels, room on the small side. But was sufficient for our two night stay, Tea & Coffee, Fridge, Hairdryer, and very clean. Bus right outside hotel front door, into Edinburgh city centre, first class breakfast each morning, something for everyone, from cereal to a full cooked. Would recommend if staying in Edinburgh.

The carvery breakfast was a disaster! Food could have been hotter. No staff available to guide guests how to use coffee machine, although tea was brought to tables!! Pity breakfast staff let me down on this visit. Next time (?) I would choose continental breakfast.

    Well worth a stay.”

Staff on arrival were very polite and helpful. We were given a free upgrade to there signature room with views of the castle. Room had a queens size bed with pop up tv. Tea/coffee and hot chocolate, The bar area was very comfortable with plenty of arm chairs. Breakfast was an all you can eat buffet full English along with fruits, cereal, toast, plenty to choose from. The hotel is about two and a half miles from main city centre but there is the bus stop just outside the hotel (number 11) which will take you right in to the city for £1.70 or £4.00 for an all day pass. Fantastic place to stay

    Very good”

The Hotel was nice and everything was good except there were so many stairs to get to our room. It wouldn't be too bad if we weren't carrying cases. We don't know if there was an elevator but no one mentioned that there was, and we saw other people struggling on the stairs also.

It’s just ok for a short stay”

Though the view of this hotel was quite amazing, It is quite far away from the city center. You need to take the #11 bus for around 25mins. If you do not mind that it is not a bad choice, the bed was quite comfy but it doesn’t look that clean. The price was actually the only good part of the hotel.

    Nice time”

Had a great time rooms and bathroom were great as was the food. Thanks for accommodating Gluten free, only con was fish portion was a bit small with dinner and my dessert had a slight onion flavour in it, but it was manageable. Think breakfast staff were very busy as a lot of items were not replenished and I asked for bowls to be put out. But food was lovely. Thanks for everything. D

What a lovely stay in this very friendly hotel. We were given a very spacious family room, actually more like a small flat with separate rooms for us and the kids, a real bonus as our kids are 9 and 12. The hotel location was great, not busy at all but within east reach of central Edinburgh by local bus or very reasonable taxi. The breakfast was fabulous, an extensive choice and buffet style. We had dinner in the hotel both nights of our stay which was tasty and served by lovely waiting staff. The kids portions are huge, plenty big enough for my 12 year old son who does love his food!! We will definitely be staying next time we are in Edinburgh

Customer service, convenient location, great value

Attractive property, guest relations went the extra mile to take care of us. Clean, well kept rooms, albeit a little small. Good breakfast that was included. There wasn't a concierge present but the front desk was quite helpful. Convenient to the city via a bus that was steps from the front door.

Great Hotel, good location and very clean”

Easy to get to. Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are nice and very clean. Wonderful breakfast.

The hotel is well known and easy to get to. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the rooms are very nice and exceptionally clean. Nothing was any trouble. The breakfast was amazing and the views from the dining room looking over the park are just how one should start their day. Excellent stay and I would highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel, but a very tired interior. There were events on in the function rooms on the Friday and Saturday nights which meant very little sleep due to the live band and loud music, exacerbated by the party goers gathering on the terrace outside.

    Trouble with Wifi”

The location was good. Breakfast was very good, although very expensive if not wrapped into the room rate. We were ‘upgraded’ into a room in the standalone building that was nice, but were could never get the WiFi to work properly in the room, and only partially in the main building. We had to rely on the unsecured network with poor reception, and therefore had to really restrict our use. I enquirer about staying over a weekend a week later and was quoted a rate 50% higher than I booked using Agoda, so we stayed elsewhere. Would I recommend? A qualified yes, based on location.

    Charming old-fashioned and friendly”

Although not the latest in decor there is a charming old-fashioned cleanliness and comfort about this hotel. The staff are wonderful and ever so helpful and friendly. Next time I come I hope it won't be during Edinburgh Festival time when room prices are commensurate with the international importance of the event :) But what is one to say about a Scottish hotel that serves porridge at breakfast time and NO CREAM??? I had to have milk with my salted porridge (double cream was offerred). Mind you, it was good full cream milk and the haggis and bacon drove this minor shortcoming completely out of my mind. I had a wonderful time and look forward to coming again.
