“Business trip”
I used it for an international conference held at the University of Hong Kong. It was a recommended accommodation by the conference, conveniently located with easy access to public transport (shuttle bus, tram, bus, subway) and the hotel room environment was comparable to a business hotel. The cost was approximately ***, and the unit bath and bed were spacious, around double size(?). The lighting was somewhat dim, similar to a business hotel, but there were two desk lamps, so I had no trouble with desk work. Since it was summer (August), it was quite hot and humid, but the hotel had effective air conditioning, to the point that the entrance glass was fogged up. The air conditioning in the guest room seemed to be set quite strongly even before check-in, making it rather cold. The temperature setting was on strong wind at 15°C, so personally, I turned it off and it was just right. When housekeeping came in, it was turned back on, so when I returned, I had to turn it off again to sleep comfortably before bed. The hotel offered free Wi-Fi, allowing access to the internet from PCs and smartphones. The speed seemed to be inconsistent, and especially with my smartphone, it was often smoother to connect using my contracted eSIM. I had no issues working. Regarding power outlets, the plugs differ from Japan, so a converter is necessary. However, there were two converters in the room, which I was able to use. Though it felt like the charging speed for my PC, smartphone, and mobile battery was somewhat slow, possibly due to compatibility issues. Just in case, I used my own converter, as bringing one is recommended to ensure access to power in Hong Kong. I wanted to fill the bathtub in the unit bath, but I didn't know how to do it. The shower had strong water pressure, making it pleasant to use. The Western-style toilet didn't have features like a washlet, which is common in Japan but not standard outside the country. The storage space was ample, with multiple hangers provided, allowing enough room for two people’s clothes. There were shelves as well, providing sufficient space for storing changes of clothes during the stay. There was a safety deposit box in the closet, so it's good to store valuables if necessary. There were indoor slippers available, so I could relax in the room. An electric kettle and disposable tea bags were provided, so I was able to cook the instant noodles I purchased during my stay. I wasn't sure if tap water was safe to use for drinking, so I think it's wise to buy cheap bottled water at supermarkets. Convenience stores tend to be pricier. At cheaper places, it can be around 5 HKD for 500-750 mL. There might be even cheaper options available too. There was a compact refrigerator provided, which was convenient for storing opened bottles and refrigerated foods. The room key was a card key type with auto-lock. I wasn't sure if I could display a “Do Not Disturb” sign, so the staff might enter and exit the room for housekeeping and other services. They took care of cleaning, toilet paper and towel replacements, and garbage disposal, allowing me to maintain cleanliness during my stay. Surrounding the hotel, there were convenience stores like 7-Eleven and Circle K nearby, so I didn't find it inconvenient for daily needs. While the prices were a bit high, exploring a bit would lead to discovering cheaper shops. There are also some stores that are not as cheap as convenience stores, so it’s worth looking around. As mentioned earlier, the tram, bus, and subway stations are close, making it very convenient to move to the downtown and tourist areas. The tram stops frequently and is inexpensive, making it highly recommended for exploring Hong Kong. The hotel staff were very kind, and I was able to experience a comfortable stay during my business trip. If I have the opportunity to revisit Hong Kong for personal travel or business in the future, I would like to use this hotel again. I hope this review will be helpful to everyone.
