Cheap hotel with sufficient accomodations”
This hotel is NOT fancy by any means. The decor and fixtures are all a bit dated, but for the price, it is to be expected. The rooms were clean, everything worked, the breakfast was fine, and the location was what we were looking for near Shawnee National Forest. Good overall low budget option.

Dissapointing”
I've stayed here before, and didn't have any problems. When I arrived, I was given a room, but it hadn't been cleaned. In the next room, one of the bedside lamps was broken, and the TV remote didn't work. When I went down for breakfast in the morning, the creamer for the coffee had expired. I asked if there was any unexpired creamer and was told there was not. For the next two mornings they had the same expired creamer there. They never even threw it out. It curdled in my coffee. That made me highly suspicious of how well they are cleaning surfaces in light of Covid-19. Finally, they never had the maid service come into the room and make it up. Since you had to eat in your room, garbage accumulated quickly, and it was never removed during my stay. Finally, when I put leftover food in the refrigerator, I discovered the next morning that the refrigerator wasn't even plugged in. Who supplies a refrigerator but doesn't plug it in so that it's chilled when you need it?

Didn’t like that I was automatically given a smoking room. Upon arriving I requested a non smoking. Only non smoking available was with a king and I had to pay an additional $5.00 a night.

Overnight Stay”
My wife and I were taking a leisurely tour through southern Illinois to visit the wine country and Garden of the Gods. Hotel met our needs very well. Room was clean and hotel was quiet. The breakfast in the morning was very good also.
