wet carpet and very strong musty/mold smell”
We pre booked and paid for a room at this hotel online based on the good reviews that were online. We were traveling all day to arrive at this hotel at 11:30 p.m. and was given our room key. when we opened our room up we were hit in the face with a VERY strong musty/mold smell. My son took off his shoes and his socks got wet. I went to the front desk to see about changing rooms and I was told there were no "cheap online price rooms" available. They said since I prepaid online the room was cheaper than other style rooms they had available. I tried to explain that this this was not our fault, I was not looking for an upgrade to a room, just a room that did not smell that bad. she again said she was sorry but there was nothing they could do for me. I got back to the room and we were traveling with someone who had health issues and was starting to have trouble. I explained again to the front desk about the health issues and said the person was going to have to sleep in the car if there wasn't anything that could be done. as I was going back to the room, someone who was staying there asked if our room was really bad, she went to complain to the front desk about it also and they were given "carpet fresh" powder to sprinkle on the floors to help with the smell. I then received a call back from the front desk clerk saying "because I mentioned health issues" they came up with another room for us. she explained that they just had the carpets cleaned that day and what we were smelling was "dog odors" coming out of the wet carpeting. When we purchased our room online, we DID NOT request a room for pets or smoking and the smell did not smell like wet dog, it smelled like musty mold like the carpets became wet and then the room was shut up with no fan/or air on it to dry and the smell got trapped in the room without the carpets drying properly. if the carpets were cleaned they should not have been rented to someone until they were dry again and aired out. we should
