A classic hotel designed by Mario Loreti in 1938, Bettoja Mediterraneo Hotel sits on the highest of Rome's seven hills. This property is one of the city's best examples of Art Deco with 10 floors of classic rationalism that was the style of the 1930's interior design featuring marble staircases and intricate wood paneling and inlays throughout the public areas of the hotel. Rooms and suites at this unique hotel are equally memorable, featuring the original 1940s furnishing, complimented by all the amenities of a modern, 4-star hotel. Dining here deserves a special mention with their in-house restaurant, Ristorante 21, decorated with antique paintings and serving traditional Italian cuisine in a warm, elegant ambience. Putting aside the delights of the hotel, all the attractions of Rome are easily visited and the friendly hotel staff will be happy to offer information and directions.

great location and nice staff”
The hotel is a bit old but everything is well-managed. The house keeping lady is definitely the highlight - very cheerful and friendly and eager to make up your room. It is just a few steps from the metro station and the train station. However, the wardrobe location is bit strange as the door basically blocked its door so I don't use it. The curtain is also too thin to block the lights. Other than these, I am happy with my stay. By the way, I just discovered when I arrive that you need to pay extra to have breakfast on the 10th floor... a bit disappointed.
Highly recommended ”
Great location. I stayed on the 6th floor and experienced a most comfortable bed that was welcomed after many long days of activity in Rome. The Gentlemen at reception were excellent. Do visit the roof top bar for an evening drink.
Couldn't agree more with the location, perfect.
Highly recommend ”
Location is 5 min walking distance from Rome main railway station. Supermarket on the opposite street of the hotel. Excellent staff to help you with all your questions. Extremely busy being very popular with a lot of tourists but staff is very gentle listening to you always.
Next to the station and metro / Gorgeous view on Rome”
The Hotel is really well located just 2 min walking distance from a metro station and the Termini train station which is direct from the airport. The room is very big but a bit old school. The breakfast offers you one of the best view on Rome. This is the best way to start the day.
Before I booked I read the reviews and liked the sound of the hotel. It lived up to all the reviews and so much more! It is indeed very close to the terminal station. Basically turn right when you exit and it will be about a 5 minute walk. The room was big, tables and chairs fitted in quite comfortably. Bathroom was also big. Staff at check in were fine, professional. The greatest surprise was the breakfast place on the roof top. Fabulous views of the city. We also went up for cocktails and dinner as the place was so relaxing after a busy day of site seeing in the city. Quite lovely, would recommend just going up for sunset cocktails if not staying in the hotel.
2 mins from Termini station. Since rome is a walkable city, this hotel is an excellent place to explore Rome from. Rooms are clean. Reasonably sized rooms. Breakfast was good. Try to have breakfast at the top floor although these are reserved for guests in suite rooms. If it isn't crowded, they might allow. Top floor has great view of Rome. Breakfast with a view.
Good location, nice staff and breakfast”
The hotel is very near termini station although it was difficult to locate initially as the street signs of Rome were rather small. There are loads of restaurants nearby and a self service laundry in the next street. The breakfast was a large spread.
Plenty of space with classical decoration”
I can find this hotel easily, the service is very friendly and the breakfast is good too. Many japanese likes to live in this hotel. Many shops and restaurant nearby and just a few steps to the rome main station, very suitable for travellers who want to have multiple stops. The hotel is a bit old but the room is still beautiful and clean. The lobby gives a very classical feeling to me and you can walk to the colessium too. I lived for two nights and i found it a correct choice. Recommend to those who has their first visit to rome.
Near to train station”
Took a train from Milan to Rome, upon reaching, it is close proximity from the station. about 5 mins walk. The check in is swift without hassle. Room is clean, basic and rustic. Breakfast selection is above average with standard variety.
“Nice hotel, good location””
we stayed here for 4 nights earlier this year. the hotel is nice, and in a great spot close to termini station, and also the stop for all the tour buses! the room was clean and a good size. hotel was good value, would stay again, as it is in such a good location for sightseeing.
Room is untidy. The staff lack professionalism. There is no concept of service quality. The breakfast is awful. Only good thing about is hotel is location. However, one can find many other hotels nearby.
Excellent location ”
Lack of facilities
Modern, spacious rooms
Hotel and location were great! Desk Staff great, dinning staff okay
Great location, kind staff, good facility, large room, reasonable price
Very convienence, but little costly”
The hotel displayed as "Alberto hotel mediterraneo" instead of "Bettoja Hotel Mediterraneo". It took us awhile to find it. Luckily, with the GPS, we went to the spot. The doorman told us that's the Hotel we booked. Close to central buses and underground stations in central terminal. Shuttle bus costs Euro 5 to 6 between FCO airport to the terminal. Walking only few blocks to the hotel. Very convenience. There are like 4 to 5 hop on hop off buses companies two blocks away, right across the central buses stations. You can access to many sites by buses or underground trains. Then, only two blocks from the hotel, there are mini night markets and Italian restaurants along the trams' tracks. There are people sing and play instruments on the streets. We enjoyed food and relax with music around 8pm at night. Just be careful with pickpocket. Wear your bag in the front. Try visit site spots early in the morning to avoid crowd.
When in Rome, probably a great choice is to select a hotel that offers the flavor of history. For those attracted to an authentic place, the Bettoja Mediterraneo is an excellent choice. I really enjoyed it and i become a regular visitor.
Everything was excellent apart from one issue. One morning I went off early to book a trip and took the breakfast voucher with me in my wallet. My wife went for breakfast and the staff member who saw us every day was on day off. My wife was simply refused breakfast when there were easy ways to check. The staff member was adamant and my wife was so embarrassed she just left. Unfortunately she is African and felt it was racist.
