Exceptional
The moment we walked into the reception we fell in love with Bhairon Vilas. The taciturn guy on the desk quickly won us over when he offered us a free upgrade from our economy room to one of the palatial ground-floor suites. The room, and that of our sons who arrived later, was a set-decorator's fantasy. The extraordinary high ceiling with it's propellor-sized fan would be amazing in summer. The decor (Biba meets colonial kitch) has to be seen to be believed and is a testament to the owners twenty years gradually refurbishing his ancestral home. The first day we were the only guests, which only added to the surreal experience as we explored the labyrinthine passages and staircases and marvelled at the bonkers interiors. That evening the kitchen produced an authentic Rajasthani dinner that was one of the standout meals of our entire tour and one our final night there was a set menu that was its equal. Breakfast was a bit of a let-down by comparison. This has to be seen to be believed!

One night in a palace
I spoiled myself perhaps because I stayed in the Maharaja room, I guess. It was HUGE! I could run around in it. The decor at the hotel is elegant and feels old world, which is charming. I actually had hot water and good water pressure, which is how I judged a good hotel in India. The outdoor dining garden was heated by a fire, which was good enough to be comfortable since I was there in December. The fort is a short walk around to the front gates (about 5- 10 minutes). The staff were sometimes hard to locate, but I got what I needed. This was a fun stay, and I would definitely go here again.

Great experience
This is a very unusual, quirky and unique hotel. It's not perfect and some of the staff are a bit hopeless, but I would recommend this place for the experience. It is located right next to the amazing Bikaner fort, which is the main attraction in Bikaner.

Need tender love and care
This is a well located and beautiful historical property that is not well maintained. Basic cleanliness and customer service is lacking. You can sense the lack of motivation among staff and even $ tips get you no where. I would strongly suggest to the owners of this property to do the right thing or face the prospect of it declining into complete decay in a short time. As an example, look at what has been achieved with the souvenir shop on the premises. That Belgian woman should be the standard used for the hotel, its facilities and staff.

Comfortable hotel with lots of character.
Was surprised by large exoticc room. Large old Indian building close to fort and bustle but peaceful. Restaurant , are on the grass. Something different

The worst hotel I've stayed in on my India Trip
After great anticipation of our stay at Bharion Vilas, we were extremely disappointed to find a hotel seemingly run by teenage boys, with filthy kitchen in the restaurant, no water, soap or basic amenities in our heritage suite room, having to block a warped window with a stool during a sandstorm. This is just a small listing of what was a total disaster in our choice of accommodation. We will never, ever go back to Bharion Vilas.

Nothing works!
No wifi, no TV reception, no barman in the bar, uncomfortable bed and, in the morning, no water! On the plus side the dinner was good (although a long wait) and they were able to supply a badly wired fan heater to counter the freezing room. The manager accepted our check-out after our experience and didn't dispute our refusal to pay. What was once, I suspect, an eclectic experience is now an unfortunate experience in a dilapidated hotel.

Quirky and interesting
Decor, space, location.
We had planned to spend two nights here towards the end of our 5 week tour of Rajastan but found a wonderfully quirky place reflecting the eclectic tastes of the owner who has a fascinating and arcane collection of antiques and curiosities. Harsh is a warm and generous host and conversationalist and we were disappointed not to be able to extend our stay - alas international flights won't wait. So much nicer than the bland white spaces of many modern hotels. High recommended.
