Beautiful & Tranquil Setting”
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The resort is located set back from the main road with a lagoon at the rear and about 5 minutes walk to Klong Prao Beach which is one of the best beaches on Koh Chang and not so busy as the town at White Sands Beach which is a short taxi ride away. A good buffet breakfast was served at their sister Klong Prao Resort overlooking the lagoon by the beach and a buggy was available at certain times to drive guests there or alternatively it was a 5-10 minute walk. Bhu Tarn offers better value than some of the beach side resorts. The resort is new and very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was our room was a bit noisy at times as the wall to the adjoining room is very thin and we could hear the other guests. Apart from that we would return again.
Stunning place, peaceful, green and close to great beaches.”
The staff were all fantastic, helpful, informative and have a good sense of humour. Housekeeping kept all rooms clean and gardens beautiful. This is an idea place to stay for couples and adult groups as it has a peaceful feel away from a larger resort. It is part of a larger resort which too is fantastic and caters more for families. The restaurant is does great food and breakfast is held on site at the larger resort which is a 3-5 minute walk away. This is an amazing walk across well signed bridges and through gardens. Both complexes offer different dynamics so it's a plus to be at the bhu-tarn and use other facilities. Would come back again and recommend this place as because it's situated nicely between chi Chet and klong prao allowing easy travels to white sands and Kai bae. There are lots of things to see and do along chi Chet and klong prao beaches. Fantastic!
A lovely relatively new hotel very spacioys room.”
The rooms are real spacious. Our room was in the garden area near the pool. This and the hotel on the lagoon are sister hotels so you can use the facilities of both. There is a second swimming pool down on the beach and it is a lovely short walk across the floating walkway to get to the sister hotel. We preferred to be in the garden rooms where it is quieter. We did not hear road noise and sometimes had the Bhu Tarn pool to ourselves. Since there is a 2nd swimming pool on the beach It would be nice to make this pool adults only with no blow up pool toys and shrieking children to spoil a nice relaxing swim and a peaceful relax and read afterwards. Service in the restaurant at night was a bit slow but the food was good. Our room girls kept our room immaculate. One or two of the waiting staff at breakfast restaurant didnt have the smiles that most hotel staff and Thai people in general have. Nevertheless it is a lovely hotel and we would stay there again if we return to Koh Chang.
we come back again and again ;)”
Last year we stay here for te first time and this year for the second, but it will be not be the last one! This hotel is a perfect place for us. We love the bungalows with sea view, You can lie outside on the balcony and have a nice view on the lagoon. The rooms are big and comfortable and the staff very friedly! The breakfast will be served on the partner hotel "Klong Prao Resort" and the service is good. Special thanks to Rinya for the open eyes if we need more coffee! ;) And the choices on the buffet are good (we love asian style) and not empty till 10 am. Thats good! Maybe it could be something more vegetarian food for us vegetarians. (on the other hand: we don't eat too much… ^^) It`s not far to the beach and You can use the amenities from the Klong Prao Resort. In short: We will come back in any case!
Best xmas ever”
We have spent our xmas holiday at Bhu Tarn. Overall, the hotel and its services were good enough. Pros: nice, spacious, clean bungalow, the breakfast was plentiful and varied at the partner hotel, the staff is helpful and polite, beauty white sand beach, free kayaking Cons: no direct path to the beach, the noise elimination between the rooms are really poor because of the thiny walls Notes: strongly recommended to chose lake view bungalow if available
Mostly nice, but needs some improvements”
Had an overall good stay at this hotel! Pros: - The resort is brand new, the pool is lovely and big and the rooms are huge. - Nice towels/beds/bathrobes, etc. - Breakfast was pretty good with OK variety for the hotel size and someone to make eggs/omelets on the spot (although I was hoping for mango and the coffee was dreadful) - Reception and staff are friendly, but the level of English is quite low. As a result, conversations are limited and usually awkard. -Lovely Klong Prao beach is less than 5 minutes away where you can used their old sunbathing chairs for free. Cons: - Unfortunately, the rooms are paper thin and the one I had an adjoining door to the the next room that was so poorly isolated that I could see the shadow of my neighbours as they walked by, so needless to say I could also hear every single word or sound coming out of their room. This is very bad for a hotel of this price as you feel you have no privacy whatsoever. - The beach had TONS of jellyfish. When the tide was low, there were literally hundreds of small ones in the shallow part. Not the resort's faults, but I would not return because of this.
Staffs are great and helpful. Rooms are nice, huge and clean! Most importantly, price is reasonable!! If you ever visit this resort, there is a restaurant called Klong Prao restaurant near by, they serve delicious foods right next to the beach. (asked the front desk, and they will provide you free shuttle van for picking you up). Worth the money. Recommended!
We stayed for 9 nights in a Bhu Tara room and, as the hotel is only a year old, everything is clean and new. It was a joy to enter our beautiful, cool, spacious room and its well-equipped bathroom with bath, twin washbasins and separate shower area. There are 2 balconies to the front and rear overlooking the green gardens and the lagoon and floating restaurant, respectively. The rear balcony has a built-in sunbed area. The aircon is large and super-efficient, much needed with the high humidity outside in late April! Breakfast is now served in-house, rather than going to the sister hotel, and for most of our stay (over Songkran) was very good with various Asian dishes, pasta, eggs and proper bacon. However, as the hotel emptied, only bread and fruit platters remained, the egg chef had disappeared and food was cooked upon request. The floating restaurant had only opened 2 nights before when we arrived and we are there twice. Food was reasonable but cocktails are way too expensive at 250thb each (mostly they were around 150thb). There is a lovely pool which we used for the first few days but then it got too noisy with Songkran so we vacated to the beach at the sister hotel which is lovely. The only downside of our stay was noise from our immediate neighbours, not immediately evident until the European couple who were there, left and were replaced by two separate of Asians, who, it seems, have little regard for others. They couldn't close doors without banging them, moved furniture around (why?), talked loudly, or worse, could clearly be heard hocking-up which, unless you're Asian, sounds absolutely disgusting! This is most noticeable in the bathroom where there is little or no soundproofing. If it wasn't for this, our stay would have been perfect.
Great hotel with affordable price”
We will definitely come back again to this hotel. The room is new equipped with all amentities. Gorgeous! Only one thing is that you will need to walk about 200 meter to use same beach as Klong prao resort.
I really had great experience staying in this resort. The room is well decorated with the modern and beautiful facilities. The staff is really friendly and helpful. I also love the atmosphere around the resort on the way to the beach. I would love to recommend to everyone who seek for peaceful stay in Koh Chang.
New and Clean”
The Bhu Tarn is an extension of the Klong Prao Resort. The 'only' reason to stay here is that the Kong Prao is full or too expensive. We stayed for 2 days over NYE cos everything else was full which we were happy to do. It's 5 minutes from the beach but they supply free golf cart to beach. The walls a very thin and they need to put 2 doors between rooms - not just one with huge gaps at the bottom.
Great value for money”
I didn't miss a thing. The breakfast hast great varieties, a good scooter rental is just across the road. An atm you can find 100 m down the road. Several restaurants close by or a 5 min scooter drive away. Best beach of koh Chang as part of the partner resort which you can use completly as if you were a guest. So all in all great experience
Great stay at Bhu Tarn”
Very friendly staff and great rooms. Close to Klong Prao Beach and you can use the bigger Klong Prao Resorts facilities. We were booked for 3 days but ended up staying a week. Would come back. Only cons is theres only a few restaurants in walking distance.
Excellent value for the money.”
New, well-appointed facility with nice pool and delicious breakfast buffet with plenty of choices. Tasty dinners at reasonable prices and efficient, well-mannered staff. Arrangement with Klong Prao Resort for transportation to and use of beach and facilities was especially appreciated. Only drawback was all the ants in the rooms, but still rate it 9.0 out of 10.0.
Fantastic hotel, but not perfect”
This is one of those rare hotels, the photos just don't do it justice! The rooms are very large and excellently decorated with a very comfortable bed and a excellent bathroom. The hotel grounds are also lovely with a very inviting pool. It's not quite perfect though, the aircon is placed directly in front of the bed and you can't change the direction of air flow which can be bothersome. More of a problem is that you can hear people in the room next door which could be a problem, the sound seems to come through the doors that connect rooms. Hopefully the management can find a way to fix these problems because otherwise this place is brilliant and highly recommended.
Great resort. I think that the Klong Prao beach is one of the nicest on the island, but the bad thing was that there wasn't much to explore within walking distance.
its the scond time we visit this place. it not so close to the center of koh chang so its better to rent scooter or somthing. in general i found very good value for money in this hotel.
Did the job wonderfully...”
...And by job I mean it provided a lovely, quiet sleeping space with everything catered for. I stayed during the low season and less than half the rooms appeared vacant, so I didn't have to worry about the thin walls that other people reported. I was also concerned about other reviewers' listing bedbugs (having lived in New York City the concern was real), and I carefully examined the bed, removing the covers after I arrived. The bed was spotless and no trace of bedbugs, I am happy to report! (I did get bit by sand fleas on the beach, and the bites didn't show up until the next morning, which could have led someone to think their bug bites appeared overnight). The one gripe I had was the breakfast. I thought that it was included with my booking, but turns out I was the only one staying in the hotel who'd booked a room without the 'perk.' I ended up having to pay 200 BHT for soggy eggs and a toaster hash brown (having declined the meat portion of the "American Breakfast"). For others facing the same problem, I recommend walking 2-3 doors down for the same breakfast (or better?) at half the price from a roadside cafe. Staff were helpful, as needed, as long as the questions (in English, anyway) aren't complicated. In short, great room and great value.
Only book double/twin lake view rooms, great value”
I'd strongly recommend to avoid booking garden-view double rooms (non-lake side view), they've got poor wi-fi connection and no sound isolation, you can hear absolutely everything from your neighbour's room through paper thin doors between rooms. No beach by the hotel, but a shuttle bus to the nearest beach is available and the swimming pool is lovely. Very nice staff, breakfast is amazing and will last you for the rest of the day; we really enjoyed watching sunset every day from a lake side view room, it's definitely worth the money.
This was one of the best resort I've stayed in ever! Amazing staff, amazing beach, right in between the two main beaches and away from the crazy parties and if you want to party its only 10 mins in a taxi. There's also a BBQ food place right next to the resort for about 200THB and all you can eat.
