Near the beach”
Great place for a solo traveler. The location is a bit hidden. A huge victorian style house with big rooms. A huge kitchen and fridge to use during your stay. Fast and steady wifi available.

I have stayed at the facility previously which is why I chose the place again. Its situated equally between the V&A Waterfront and Caspe Town City Centre which is good. Its a L late Victorian period mansion house which was formerly the residence of the Harbour Master of Cape Town with newer extensions and an extra accpommodation annex at the rear of the main building. The staff are very nice and helpful. There is a complimentary breakfast. However, I believe that the building could do with a new coat of white paint throughout and some aspects of modernisation to make it look brighter and more welcoming, as it looks jaded. They are tolerant of people smoking pot in the facility as laws in South Africa have recently changed, however this policy is not entirely suitable for all guests as families with children may stay there too. For the reasons mentioned above some guests I know chose to leave early to stay elsewhere.

Very nice stay at Big Blue”
We've had a very nice stay Big Blue Backpackers. Can't complain about hostel cleanness and staff helpfulness. The location in Green Point is also a plus. Only thing to complain is internet connection in the reception area which is slow but the cat living there can make it up :) Cool atmosphere !

This place is perfect stay for solo traveler. There's a guy who is very friendly also tell information about Cape Town. Also the manager from this stay seems to have strict regulation about robbery. so i can stay without worrying about missing my things for 4days.

Good experience! Great location! Friendly staff. But we had private room, but wasn't cleaned while we were there. And not many toilets and bathrooms, the were clean but not in really great condition

Awesome vibe with puppy & kitty kn site but.... ”
So as much as i loved seeing the loving animals and hippie vibe friendly long-haired manager. The bigger picture organisation amd routine was lacking and breakfast was chaos with no routine or process or hygiene involved, the kitchen was the same - burnt pots & pans and under-staffed by the look of it. So for the R101 gemerally charged for a dorm bunk bed it does seem a tad expensive considering for R30 more one gets organised clean experiences #honestythebestpolicy 😀

I've met many great friends here. This is an affordable hostel to stay at and walking distance to woolworths (a supermarket), restaurants, waterfront, malls, and cafes. There are local buses you can take to visit the city.

I had a great time staying here. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is traveling solo or just need a place to bunk for the night. There is plenty of services there, it will feel like home.

All clean and nice but I just want to suggest a ladder for the double bed because it was difficult to climb up and also they must put a handwash and a towel to dry hands in the toilet.

Great place, good location and accessibility to waterfront. Grocery stores nearby, bus stop less than two blocks away. Easy to prepare food. Outlets not always close to bunks.

Filthy, run down hostel, for locals not tourists”
Good location but everything else was terrible. Dirty bedding, dirty hostel, rude receptionist, would not want to prepare a meal in the kitchen, the pool is too filthy to swim in. The rooms are not secure
