Overvalued, recommend for pple who have not done glamping”
Spent about USD 135.5 per night for 2 nights in Dec'17. It is located within the park, each tentage is located spaciously apart. Tent is small, hardly have a lot of space to move. There is a fan & electric supply is available for charging. Sleeping area and toilet/shower are separated by canvas sheets. Only one dim ceiling light for both sleeping & bathroom area. They provide torchlight too. There is a R&R area with Wifi, books, board games etc. Pathways are lit when its dark. Freeflow tea/coffee/biscuits every ~6pm, which coincides with end of evening safari. Dinner starts ~7.30pm. Servers are quick & systematic. Housekeeping was behind. We had to remind the manager to get his staff to do housekeeping but it was done in such a rush that it ended up dirtier. Camp manager is very responsive but the area is very spread out, so he may not have a systematic way to follow up with his staff on tasks. Able to organise safaris at last min notice. Camp manager try to keep groups separate.

Excellent”
Lovely campsite. Absouletely serene. Dinner was great and staffs were friendly. The game drive, however, was disappointing. The guide appointed was really bad at explaining the Park and about the animals we spotted. The driver was speeding the last hour .. so we obviously can't spot any animals.

5 star tent experience, terrific few days”
This was a wonderful two night experience. My wife and I cannot speak highly enough of Wayne and his team. The tent was very clean and is well equipped, the food was outstanding and the general ambience really made for a jungle tent experience especially at night time when the staff lit a bonfire with lanterns lit. The jeeps were very good quality and the guides were both enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We saw lots of animals including three separate sightings of leopards and plenty of sightings of elephants. It should be noted that leopards are very hard to spot but the guides use their inate knowledge of the park to give you this chance. We are so happy we stayed here and this is an experience that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

Best part of our trip!”
The staff and manager are outstanding. They did everything to make this a perfect adventure. Also, some of the best prepared food that we had in Sri Lanka. You are staying in a tent but you are doing it with style!

Excellent”
The tents in the camp are set in little enclave surrounded by bushes which made it very private. Tents were clean, staff were friendly and efficient; and food was rather good. There were no hot running water in the shower which makes taking a shower in the evening after a dusty safari game drive a very chilly experience! However compared to their other camp in Udawalawe, The Big Game Camp Yala is much better in terms of service and quality of the tents.

If i could give more then 5 stars i would do that”
i do travel a lot but i have never felt so well taken care of as i did here. The living in the tent is a wonderful feeling, even thoug that saingt its a tent is a litle missleading since there is a shower, toilet nad doublebed inside. Extremly good staff. 3 diches lunch, 3 diches dinner very very good breakfast. Al 3 meals was delicius. The invirement is amacing. Safari also good. As a package including everything i would love to give the staff and the staying minimum 5 + rating. FOR SURE I WILL BE BACK

the tents were old and permitted large number of insects into our tent. They were crawLING all over.”
The mosquito net on the bed gaped at the entrance causing insects to enter the bed and crawl all over. Our family of 6 slept poorly and cut short our stay., forfeiting the second night. The dinner was great The staff was excellent The potential to improve should be embraced. The experience living in a tent can be made more pleasant. The owners need to invest in better tents or else it not worth visiting beautiful place. What a shame!!!

Good”
We didn't expect to stay in a nice hotel room when we made the reservation, so it is pretty much the same as we expected. The food and staff are excellent. It is in the jungle, so be prepared to have a lot of bugs! It's a different experience, 1 or 2 nights are good enough.

stayed with infant”
one of the most professionally run property, I have ever came across. Kamal and his team made sure that we felt comfortable with the infant even though we were staying in a tent in a jungle. The location is awesome and you literally stay within yala forest. The barbeque set up and dinner was superb. The introductory speech given by Kamal ensured that we instantly felt comfortable staying there in spite of traveling with infant. Must stay place if you go to yala and if you are a nature lover who want to stay in tented camps. Thank you team for the hospitality.

Fun wild stay!!”
In the wild, we could took a normal show, had a normal bathroom which was good! Also, we had a comfortable bed without mosquito coming after us which made us slept well. The dinner experience was fantastic and tasted good! The safari experience was great of the most!!! The guide was careful and tried to help us to see as many animals as we could. Every time we saw animals, he was really happy for us!! I also have to mention the camp manager Coma who takes good care for each of the guest, the warm welcome and always seek to help actively which makes the service great!

Basic game game”
Camp was good, tents are run down, but ok, resturant was great, had that game camp feel. Staff were ok, needed to be just more enthusiastic , lack of communication with everything. Not much of an atomoshere, my guide didn't speak any English but could point at animals and say there name, also ask for binoculars as I didn't have any

Fun at Big Game Camp”
My wife and I traveled to the camp on the 1st of Jan, 2017 along with two more couples and their young kid. The overall experience was very pleasant. The staff was very accommodating. The tents allotted to us were clean and cozy. We were whisked away for the afternoon safari as we reached the camp and got done with our lunch. The driver arranged was very knowledgable and acted as our guide till the real one joined us. The drive in the national park was extremely educational and a lot of fun. While we didn't see leapords, we got to see a lot of elephants, wild buffaloes and a variety of birds. The dinner buffet was extremely delicious, especially the barbecued meat. The breakfast was to die for. We were served a rice/ragi rotti stuffed with coconut, which was heavenly. Overall, we had a great time at the camp and at the safari.

Comfortable Stay but Expect More”
First of all, let's talk about the tents. Ours is BIG. It consists of 3 little tents combined together. 1st tent is living room. 2nd is bedroom. 3rd is bathroom. You got sofa, proper beds, shower head etc. There is no water heater and air conditioning but fans which are good enough. But this is a basic tent. Not those luxurious beautiful tents you see in Africa safaris brochures. About the food. Their BF is average. Omelette, toasted bread that kind. The pricey packed lunch is terrible. Awful rice and curry (I like curry but theirs is inedible). Dinner is a different story. Yummy BBQ and you dine under the star. With torch lights around, you get the feel of survivor tv series.

Big Game Camp Yala or Mahoora Tented Safari ?”
We booked our trip for Big Game Camp and was surprised when we arrived that we were at Mahoora Tented Safari. Service was great and the staff were all very helpful. There was a fan in tent to cool and with a bathroom attached. Camping just got an upgrade. Perfect for a night's stay and a wonderful experience

Great value camp”
The camp is located on the edge of the park and only a short drive to the gate. The camp itself is well set out and thoughtfully designed. Whilst the tents are fairly basic the whole experience was made special by the staff who really are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to make everything perfect. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. If I had a bigger budget i would stay somewhere with slightly better tents however they were more than adequate and overall this represented excellent value for money. I would happily stay there again
