Escape to the country!”
This was the perfect break we needed to recharge. Set 20 mins out of Walpole centre Billa Billa Cottages offers a perfect peaceful location. The childen loved riding the pony, bottle feeding the lamb, feeing the pigs and chickens and collecting eggs. The host Donna was really informative about the local area and we enjoyed exploring the local national parks and waterfall. Being a little further out of town meant no light pollution and the night sky was stunning. Evenings spent, playing board games, watching a movie and enjoying a local red by the roaring fire. Bliss!
Absolutely gorgeous!”
When we arrived it felt so tranquil and beautiful,it's set out right near national park so in the evening you can see kangaroos. So many birds and other wildlife as well. The kids got to ride Merlin the pony every morning which they loved and also got to feed the chickens, turkeys and the pigs. The host was very friendly and welcoming, cottages were very nice, loved the balcony overlooking the paddocks. I would definitely recommend Billa Billa to my friends and family and would 100% stay again.
Hidden Gem”
Fantastic staying at Billa Billa Farm. Very peaceful and tranquil place with a nice lake and various farm animals to visit. Fantastic cabin with amazing friendly customer service from owner. Definitely coming back again soon.
Very disappointing”
Very Boring, No TV there could be one with a DVD if you ask for it ..The furniture very dated and worn, covered over with throw rugs. The brochure stated barbecue and hammock on veranda there wasn't.. The magazine "Explore the Southern Forests" States in the Billa Billa advert Receive a "Gourmet local produce hamper" Donna turned up with 8 pieces of over grown asparagus. Our first meal when I was washing the plates one of them had old fried egg stuck to the bottom and we had no eggs. The farm is 19 km from the main road and the last 3km are gravel(Not a nice look an a new car) very few animals there was one chook and 2 guinea pigs under out cabin and another chook with chickens in a very small cage with no food or water until we fed them. There were several horses or ponys in a yard out front and a couple of times a flock of sheep wandered past the cabin This is out third farm stay in Walpole area and sorry to say the worst The other farm two farm stays both had TV and electric blankets and were far superior.
So this ones a bit unfair, these guests were offered pony rides and animal feeding and chose not to leave the cottage. They knew very well I was feeding the chickens twice a day, they do spill their water and most guests are happy to help look after the animals if this happens. There is a bbq. It was not inside the winter hamper dates as advertised but in the middle of Spring, the asparagus was a gift. However it was just after the October school holidays and a catch up on maintenance was due, I had 3 back packers arrive the next day to help out (as I was 5 months pregnant at the time).
Lovely Place to Get Away From the Hustle and Bustle of the Concrete Jungle.”
Exactly what you would expect from a farm stay, it's perfect when you want to just chill and wind down from the hectic city life. Surroundings are beautiful with the fresh air and animals to greet you in the morning. The cottage is spacious and clean and the facilities are not lacking in any way. Highly recommended for a relaxing time with beautiful surroundings you won't see in the city.
Breathtaking views!”
We arrived here on a pretty stormy day, which will likely skew our review a little as we were stuck inside for most of our stay. The owner is really lovely and was very welcoming and friendly. The views from the property are absolutely amazing and make a stay here worthwhile - we felt quite mesmerised by the surrounding landscape, with every window offering breathtaking views of the rolling countryside surrounding the cottages. The cottage itself was pretty rustic. It had everything we needed but took a bit of work to get warm. The facilities are pretty basic - no luxuries here! While we sort of expected this being a farm stay, the bedding, towels and shower (which is more like a wet room; located in the same room as the washing machine and toilet) were pretty run down for the price. The shower was barely hot enough / had barely enough pressure to have a shower, which was the main let down. Everything else was adequate. There wasn't TV or mobile reception, or Internet, but there was a good range of DVDs to watch. Be a little wary of the road coming in during winter/spring -- there was lots of debris from the trees and quite a lot of pot holes. Another point to note is there isn't really any parking next to the cottages. Prepare for boggy conditions if you park on the grass. Overall, I feel like a bit of a city whinger to write this, but I have actually lived in a country town before and feel that for the price, the facilities could be improved. For instance, I just stayed at a motor inn in Albany for the same price, which had toiletries, a hot shower, Wifi, TV, etc. Obviously not the same charm, but you get the idea re: price comparison. However, if you're looking for a hardcore country stay, you might really enjoy it.
Hi A - thank you for your review. yes it was stormy and wet. What concerns me here is the shower not being hot - which I don't understand, unless a previous guest had turned the water heat down because yes the shower would normally be hot.
Home”
This isn’t your typical holiday chalet where you feel boxed in surrounded by people staying in exact replicas of your unit. It feels like visiting family or returning home. It’s comfortable and warm. You have everything you need from trays to cook a roast to platters to entertain friends. I wish I took a photo from the main bedroom.. amazing. I didn’t want to leave and they didn’t mind that I was late checking out. Plenty of beds and space. They are not 5 star brand new apartments but this is reflected in the price. It’s quiet and comfortable and an amazing place to relax. We will definitely be coming back, thank you.
nice cottage and farm stay”
We love this cottage for the woodfire and kitchen facility to keep our stay warm and our home cooked meal best. We have a wonderful escape from city life and enjoy the nature with birds, horses, pigs, sheep, pony, miniature horses, cows... The host Donna is very nice and she lend us her iPad for wifi hotspot so that we can connect to our family when our mobile Optus coverage is out of reach. we recommend family with young children to stay here and have pony riding and feeding the sheep... and building good bonding for family and using less mobile phone gadget stuff.
Surprisingly Great”
The cottage was immaculate, the view was lovely and it was a perfect stay with myself and my two young kids for a couple of nights as a getaway. The kids loved the animals and the pony rides each day
Great stay ”
We arrived late so went straight into our cottage and we're pleasently welcomed with a pre stoked wood fire warming up the place. Great facilities and spacious cabin.
Thank you Glen.
lovely farmstay”
very pleasant. My daughter loves the free roaming animals and the pony ride. Donna, the host is excellent and friendly. Rated 3 star for food as there is no dining option since it is in a farm (totally understandable). The heater was also not working well (in winter), that is why it gets 3 for condition. Other than these, I would recommend this place for any one who enjoyed the company of farm animals.
Thank you for your review Boon. I make a habit now of always lighting the fires and turning on heaters for guests arriving in Winter.
The farm is in a magical location! ”
It was cosy with the wood heater. Everything was very basic but clean. My bad back would have appreciated a spring mattress instead of the foam one. Did not miss WIFI or TV at all. Loved all the friendly animals. Some cheeky horses as well. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and if we would have decided not to talk to or wanted to be seen by anyone that could have been done just as easily, as even though Donna and all others on the farm were very friendly and approachable they were not intruding on anyone's privacy. It did feel like the place was just ours. Would love to come back again for a longer than 2 night stay.
Thank you very much Andrea.
Disorganised”
No staff were there when we came to check in. Had to wait for 15 mins or so. We were sent to the wrong cottage. We interrupted a family and had to go back and sort out which was the correct cottage. Cottage had no bath towels or mat, no tea towels and no hot water. Had to go back to the owner a second and third time to sort these things out. Once everything was sorted it was a great, quiet night, off the grid and keeping warm by the wood heater. It was worth the money for a cheap no frills get away from it all experience.
Darryl I apologise for the beginning of your stay, I have now established a notice board so guests can check into their cottage if I am not in the office. I do have a lot of roles to fulfill, so can not sit in the office at all times but this sounds like I could have done better!
Now our wedding venue”

Great getaway from city
Thank you Siew.
Excellent”
Love the animals that were at the surrounding. Enjoyed the fireplace. Donna the owner is very friendly.
water, people need water!”
the farmhouse is beautiful. surroundings are beautiful. we know that water supply is rationed but seriously...there were 7 of us. water is not even enough for our basic toilet needs. we couldn't even wash ourselves properly. we left early in the morning to do our toiletries in a gas station! so we ended up not able to fully enjoy the farmhouse stay.
I apologize for this water situation during your stay, it is not a common experience - the water tank had been used up quicker than expected and I was starting the pump as you left. I should have come and explained that to you.
