Nice Onsen + Kaseiki dinner”
We took on the Japanese style room with private onsen +Kaseiki Dinner+ a view of the sunrise by the lake. The private onsen with the sunrise lakeview was a definitely a plus point! Our room was huge and we requested for dinner in our room- which was so nicely presented. The public onsen with the resting lounge was really clean, nice and relaxing. At first, we were unsure about what we should do and what we can do at the hotel resort. However, we have an excellent hotel manager who walked us through the room/hotel facilities and shared with us a little about Japanese culture- which was much much appreciated. Thank you so much! The hotel also had a shuttle bus pick-up to/fro the nearest JR station which made it easy to get to hotel. It was a very lovely experience for us being first time in Japan.
Thai is our second time to visit”
It is relax but I will not come again because so many tours this time compare with our first time.
Stayed in the Japanese Styled room with a private onsen on the balcony. The room is massive, has 2 couches in the living area space. There is a shower (not a bathtub) with a door to the balcony - so you can go right into the private onsen after taking a shower. The kaiseki dinner was amazing - everything was presented beautifully and every dish was delicious! Wish we had more than 1 night there! The only problem is the hotel is a bit out of the way - need a shuttle to get from hotel to nearest JR station, but the hotel provides free shuttle service so that's helpful.
Divided views ”
We stayed one night with Biwako Ryokusuitei. On positive note, the facilities are great, superb ambience, awesome kaiseki dinner prepared by the chef, and served with care by the attentive dining staff. The private onsen is great too, accompanied with great view of the lake. However, the reception staff seems new and would appreciate the staff to have a clearer walkthrough with guests on the usage of private onsen and do's/don't in a tatami style room.
An impressive traditional hotel ! ! !”
It was a good Ryokan with nothing short of it. Above all, the outdoor spa in the room was impressive. I'll use it again next time.
Best hotel and excellent customer service ”
Hotel service is excellent, room is spacious and hotel provide free transfer from ogotoonsen station. The private onsen in room is the perfect size for couple who want to take a deep together
Thanks to young gentleman who kept helping me with a smile! This was fun and a secret place I can only hope doesn't get out. Beautiful Lake view, private onsen, onsen, and kaiseki meal. Loved it here. Will come back with the family! Take part in a Japanese tradition at this beautiful onsen on Lake Biwa!
The hotel is a bit old, also just a few staffs know English. It is inconvenient to ask them how to wear Japanese bathrobe, especially when there are no guidelines or instructions to teach you. Communication is a little bit problem. But, the staffs are great, who always wear a smile. The view of the room is wonderful. The whole accommodation makes people relax.
Great getaway place! ”
Location was a little out of the way but there is a free shuttle bus, which you can call for using the public phone outside ogotoonsen station. Staff was there to greet us at the entrance, and even brought our luggage to our rooms and briefed us on the room. They don't speak much English, but can understand a little. The room and private onsen was perfect and so wonderful! There's even a yukata for you to wear. Really enjoyed our stay here :)
This is my 1st time tryin onsen. I stayed in room with private outdoor onsen, and the view was very2 nice eventhough it was cold in december. Five star experience. Very2 nice staff, they gave free shuttle bus when i arrived in the station. And he brought my luggage from the bus until in front of my hotel room. He didnt want a tip, whenever i tried to give him :( Lovely breakfast in the morning, so many choice and i grilled my own fish on my bbq table. The breakfast only japanese breakfast, but that was so great buffet for breakfast!
The hotel is absolutely stunning, view from the room is relaxing, we watched sunset in the morning. food are delicious, breakfast is way way beyond my expectation, and a millions thanks to the hotel staffs, as we accidentally left quite some amount of cash at the hotel, thank you so much for searching it and bring it to the station for us, can't imagine what it'd be like if we lost half amount of the cash we brought here on the second day of the trip. And even we would like to offer some tips to express our gratitude, they wouldn't accept it instead they said it's my pleasure, I was touched beyond words. The stay here is perfect and we'd definitely stay here again when we come back kyoto next time for a hot spring night!
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location, while a little away from action, was peaceful for a relaxing getaway. Dinner and breakfast was great and was our first attempt at an authentic Japanese experience. Would recommend it for a relaxing getaway as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!
Excellent service and view! Worth the money spent.”
Everything was perfect. It is not too far from Kyoto station. They have a free shuttle service from Ogoto-onsen Station to. Just email/give them a call. Breakfast was splendid. We opted for a private bath and never regretted doing so. The standard of service and facilities is excellent. Great breakfast, great views. Worth the money spent. Would come here again if I have the chance to. Thank you to all the staf for such an enjoyable stay!
Lovely private open air bath tub on your balcony with lake biwa view”
We had a great time staying at Biwako Ryokusuitei All staff were extremely friendly and the hospitality of customer services were spot on. Nice choice of breakfast(japanese style) , kitchen and floor staff were really helpful. We had an open-air bath in our room which overlooked lake biwa, a very pleasant escape from busy lifestyle!
Lovely place to stay and get a feel for a traditional Japanese Ryokan, rooms were lovely and the experience was fantastic. staff had limited english so sometimes hard to understand the instructions or ask for assistance but otherwise very good. Not a lot of places around to get meals etc.
Onsen was big, with 4 separate rotenburo. Sadly the night sky was covered up, but it still felt lovely. Highly suggest getting a room with an attached rotenburo and lakeside view. Sunrise from the rotenburo was amazing.
Worst onsen hotel experience and food is terrible”
It is my worst onsen hotel experience and food is terrible. Way overprice for this kind of hotel, just for the view; and dinner & breakfast taste terrible. It is my very first time leaving such negative comment for a hotel. There's only 1 public onsen in the hotel and you even have to bring your own towel there. My room "biwa no kaze" has it's own private tub in the balcony but the water temperature is not hot enough, perhaps it is due to the windy weather. Dinner taste terrible and we barely finish any dishes except the Omni beef which we have to cook ourselves and we need to shower right after dinner as we smell so oily after the dinner. Breakfast: same thing as we have to grill the fish ourself. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I tried the hotel across, Ogoto Onsen Yumotokan Ryokan, and would definitely recommend you to go to that one and book the "Karoi" room.
A great way to finish a trip to Japan!”
We spent our last 3 nights in Japan at Biwako Ryokusuitei and the stay was extremely relaxing. The private spring baths are a great touch and the beds were very comfortable (we had a western-style room). We also used the public onsen, which was clean and very relaxing. The hotel shuttle service was quick and efficient to/from train station and out driver even took us to a beautiful nearby town (Sakamoto) and pointed us in the direction of a soba restaurant that’s been in business for over 300 years. It was a great place to spend a couple hours while we waited to check-in. The meals were great and offered a way for westerners to see what more traditional Japanese meals are like. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I would return to this hotel again in the future.
One of the Worst onsen ryokan experince. ”
We are a group of 6 and got 3 rooms of biwa no kaze, the one with private tub on balcony and facing directly the lake view. It is one of the Worst onsen ryokan. Hotel is old and the room way over price just for the lake view. There is only 1 public onsen and however, they do not have towels available there. You need to bring your own towels from your bedroom. Staff is friendly, however, the Omakase dinner sucks except for the Omni beef steak which you have to cook for yourself. The small dishes do not taste good. We couldn’t finish most of the small dishes as it is not very appetizing. And after the dinner, our whole body and yukata is smell of bbq beef. Some rooms are available for smoking. So even our room is the western one which is non smoking, the hallway still has little odor of smoke. We stayed at one of the Karoi rooms @ Yumotokan the night before we checked in at Ryokusuitei. Ryokusuitei is nothing compare to Yumotokan except the view is better, but its way too over price
For the four hundreds price range and getting an in room tub, it's expected. ”
The food (dinner) could be better, but in-room tub with breakfast and dinner for four hundred price range for two people, that's not bad. Location is convenient with hotel bus picking you up at the railway station.
