Great stay in a quiet location”
Spent 2 relaxing nights at this wonderful retreat. The self-contained studios have items like kitchen supplies, coffee, tea and so much more. The bed was comfortable and enjoyable and the studio was well cleaned. The Blickinstal grounds was lovely and guests are welcome to wander around. The view from the dining area overlooking the valley was just amazing. Breakfast is served between 8-9am in the homestead, and the full cooked breakfast was delicious! Daily afternoon tea was at 4pm. Blickinstal also has 2 dogs, Lucy and Max, who are so friendly and loved playing with the guests.
Serene Barossa setting highly recommend”
First time visitors to Barossa and we found Blickinstal to be located close to everything but tucked away enough to be a tranquil little escape. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfasts and afternoon teas were delicious and always served with a smile. Lovely accommodation with a great ambience. Highly recommend.
This was a short getaway for us, for my partner's birthday. We had an awesome time, walking the back roads of Tanunda, hiking up the steep hill to take in the panoramic views of the Barossa below. The accommodation was excellent and very clean as well as private. Sue was the perfect host, breakfast and afternoon tea was always delish. I would highly recommend this to my friends and family. Five starts, outstanding.
Wonderful service and well kept room”
Very homey and wonderfully situated within the winery. Service was very good with lovely home-made breakfast and arvo tea provided. Far enough from the town to capture the country vineyard experience but close enough to be accessible to the Barossa Valley attractions.
comfortable clean room in large size. All facilities are in good working conditions. The host/hostess are very friendly. Excellent breakfast with view of vineyard. An ideal place for you to stay at the Barossa Valley.
Lovely B & B in great location”
my husband and i stayed at this b & b for one night whilst travelling through the barossa on to the clare valley. we had a very comfortable stay, the accomodation is very clean and recently renovated to include modern bathroom and kitchenette. the studios are reasonaly small however they provide everything you need for a short stay. the property is well located overlooking surrounding vineyards and is very quiet and peaceful. the owner sue is hospitable and makes an effort to be welcoming however it does not come naturally. overall we would recommend a stay here on your travels through the barossa. close to the township of tununda with some great cafes, restaurants etc.
Surpised and Delighted!”
We had a great weekend at Blickinstal...the type of place you could stay at and not bother exploring the surrounds. Of course we spent the days away and went out for dinner but breakfast and a rather civilised afternoon tea were not to be missed! The food was of an excellent standard and all cooked and baked by Sue and husband Mark. The room setup was great...the only problem was it was absolutely freezing while we were there and the heating struggled a little. Lots of little extras included...sweets and port in the room...a huge DVD library to choose from and of course all the home cooking...Sue even made GF muffins for us..which were great. Definitely a place we would recommend...and return to given the chance!
Great spot, great value”
Purchased a weekend getaway here for my parents. They were delighted by the area, thought the host was down to earth, friendly and cooked a wonderful breakfast. They thought the afternoon tea was a nice bonus. I chose this place due to the great reviews and because it was reasonably priced for the Barossa. Only complaint with the venue was the bed, My Mum found it was quite firm and uncomfortable.
Perfect lodge surrounded by spectacular views”
We enjoyed the stay at Blickinstal Retreat very much with the hospitality of Sue. It is located on the top a small hill with lovely mountain fresh air and surrounding vineyards.
Superb place to stay”
A peaceful and beautiful place and in easy reach of all Barossa has to offer. Great views but highlights were the complimentary breakfast and tea. Arrived after midnight but no trouble locating our accommodation. All room facilities including WiFi were provided including a decanter of port. BBQ under cover was ideal for an evening meal bought at the local farmers market in Angaston and allowed an opportunity to meet other guests. Jenny the manageress gave us a great vineyard recommendation 'Tscharke' and Helen the chef made a superb brownie and banana cake for tea. I would highly recommend this accommodation.
quiet country retreat”
a lovely quiet country retreat. Breakfast and afternoon tea is included which is lovely. Beautiful views of the Barossa Valley, overlooking vine yards. Jenny and Helen are lovely. room was comfortable.
Pleasant spot about 8 minute drive from Tanunda central. Very hospitable staff and nice home cooked breakfast. Very clean and good facilities. WiFi in the Lodge was a bit variable but tolerable for email exchanges. Would definitely stay again.
What a beautiful place and setting. Koi and Helen couldn't have been more helpful in providing wonderful, friendly service and delicious homemade cooking. We'll be back when we next visit the Barossa. Molly & Ted, Sydney
Christina was great, when she was there, as she came and went. The whole place wants a good tidy up and refreshment. Rooms were comfortable. If I went again I would choose the lodge. Good base for touring the Barossa Valley wineries.
Relaxing stay near Tanunda”
Great staff, breakfasts, afternoon teas, relaxing and peaceful environment a few kilometres from Tanunda. Comfortable beds, lovely ambience.
Lovely back to nature retreat”
Excellent stay. Friendly accommodating staff. Nice breakfast. Enjoyed the wineries in the Barossa very much. Wondering around the grounds with our 2 year old was a lot of fun.
Beautiful location and amazing service”
we spent two nights at the retreat and felt at home with sue welcoming us! the location is great and the rooms and facilities are well appointed. another highlight is the great home cooked breakfasts and afternoon teas!
Peaceful getaway in the middle of wineries ”
We stayed in a studio room for one night in summer, and this was a very peaceful and memorable experience. The place is a little hard to find, but the second you drive in to the cottage you can totally unwind and relax. Got to the cottage at around 3pm after spending a whole morning/afternoon wine tasting in Barossa, and the friendly owner welcomed us with afternoon tea and homemade banana bread. They have 2 very friendly dogs on site as well, they were also very welcoming! The room was quite old but clean and well maintained, didn't have a bathtub but the bed was comfortable. Can't quite comment on food -we slept too well and missed breakfast. The sunset from the garden is a must see. Would definitely come back again!
very nice place”
everthing is good. nice and helpful host. good breakfast. you can enjot very much in the great valley with many animals
Good location, friendly staff, great food ”
Our stay was an all round wonderful experience. The rooms were very comfortable and super clean. The breakfast & afternoon tea (included in the price) were delicious and filling. The staff made you feel very welcome and happy to assist. A bit out of town so very tranquil - but with all the wineries you need to be careful not to over indulge
