Very clean and comfortable hotel ”
This is a great hotel for people with small/medium luggage. The room was quite small and compact but was nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable bed. You have to take the stairs to the first floor where the reception is. It's restaurant is located on the ground floor. If you are taking the tram, the hotel is located near the Gunhale station (just a few steps away, right by the main road). It's also a plus for the hotel as it has elevator to go to the rooms.
Very friendly and helpful staff”
When we reach to the hotel we have a sceptical impression as the hotel only have an elevetor from 1st floor not from ground floor. However hotel staff carry all our four bags up to the hotel room :) . During our registration, the reception provide us Istanbul map and explain in detail all nearby attraction. It make easy for us to plan our activities. Hotel provide 2 key card for one room. Even room is small but we still have space for our four bags. Room equip with coffee making facilities, toiletries and our room has a balcony which connect to spiral staircase...very nice and we love it. Breakfast is variety; fruits, bread, cereal, eggs, juice, tea and coffee. Hotel is very close to the tram, shops and about 1 km to major attraction.
Overall, our stay was excellent. There was some trouble checking in with our Agoda.com voucher, however they let us go up to the room and settle in while they worked it out. The only complaint I have is that the wifi wasn't working in our room at all. We had to go down to the common room order to use it. Breakfast here was amazing, a really great spread.
Friendly and helpful staff”
Phenomenal customer service. Rooms were spotless. Great location to walk anywhere and everywhere. Breakfast was wonderful, the restaurant downstairs was incredible with an amazingly friendly staff. Stayed just for two night and I hated to leave they truely made us fell like family. I would go back and stay at Faros again. I can't say enough good things about this hotel/restaurant.
Lovely hotel, great staff, exceptional location”
Small hotel but beautiful and clean. Food is great. Staff at reception and restaurant are wonderful and helpful and cheerful. The hotel is very close to major attractions like Haghia Sofia, Topkapi, Blue Mosque etc.
New & Clean Hotel”
I like the modern design of the Hotel. The rooms are clean. Shower and WC are separated. The lobby is at 1st flr, you need to climb the stair from Grd to 1st flr as the lift is only available from 1st flr onwards.
The Hotel is located next to the Gulhane Tram Station. The Tram line run in front of the Hotel every 5 minutes but most of the time it is crowded. We ended up walking to most of the attraction in Istanbul. It is located in between Sultanahmet and the spice bazaar, both within walking distance in different direction. There are plenty of restaurant and cafe around the hotel but I would recommend the Faros Cafe which is located at the Grd Flr of the Hotel and operated by the Hotel owner. I would definitely recommend this Hotel for anyone who is staying in Istanbul.
staff are really helpful”
My husband's was delay and their try to helped which we really appreciate as we cant speak turkish. a little bit odd receptionist and hotel accsess (the hidden door inside restaurant) location really near to tram and easy acsess. shops and restaurant around.
The hotel is currently closed”
On arrival at the hotel, they advised that it was closed for some reason and arranged for me to stay at another hotel nearby. While the staff were friendly, the other hotel was not of my choice and was quite run down. The experience was very disappointing.
Worst experience ever”
We booked a 2 single-beds room, but they gave us a double-bed room. They said they would change the beds while we did our sightseeing, but when we came back to our hotel room, it was still the same bed. We called the receptionist, and finally we got 2 single beds. However, the staff gave us a sheet and asked us to make the bed by ourselves. That was very unprofessional. What's worse, they didn't give us another quilt. That was a cold night. The staff just said they didn't have another quilt and left. Also, on the last day before we left for our country, we asked the receptionist where we could send our postcards. He said he could mail them for us the next day, which were supposed to be sent to 4 different countries. We gave him the postcards with stamps on them. Two months have gone by, none of our friends in the 4 different countries has got their postcard. I sent the hotel a message and asked if they still got the postcards. They read my message without giving me any reply. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed.
It was the second hotel during our stay. As we didnt spend much time at the hotel we decided to choose something more of budget but good location. Location was just great in terms that can walk to all landmarks and light train tram was just walking distance. The hotel was very compact but cleaned and nice design. Some people might mind that shower and toilet are inside the room on a glass partition but with film of course. The rate we booked included breakfast but dont need to expect much based on budget. Wished they had fresh coffee free of charge :P The only thing I didny like was that this zone felt very touristic, meaning that all restaurants around will be trying to sell in the street and ask you to come in for a meal. Also since it is a touristic area, watch out of the scams. Twice people asked for lighter and made a conversation with same pattern and ask to go for a drink, I dont know how it works after that but better do not try If you are attentive and looking for budget and good location, recommend to try
Everything (close to) perfect”
Hello, location is a huge plus since you can walk all the way to Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Archeological Museum, Galata Bridge, Tower. Metro Station behind the corner. Well equipped hotel, the only minus would go to thin walls - we had a noisy lady in room close by - I knocked a couple of times, she obviously understood...
Couldn't have been better. ”
Great accommodations. It felt new, clean, and modern. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great. You cannot beat the location outside tokapi palace. Keep in mind that there is a flight of stairs to the lobby before you get to the elevator. With a stroller that was the only incovenience. We added on three nights because it was so nice. Would book again.
we came with higher expectations since its 4 star rated hotel. however, there were a few things lacking but they made it up for it with a room upgrade and good customer service coming from family run business hotel. Mr Murad took the liberty of asking for our well being after my wife and son were unwell during the stay due to cold weather. location is undeniably good with plenty of food stalls and shops around the corner to satisfy our cravings too.
Good decision I made!!”
I felt like making a very good decision to stay there. The hospitality was great. I was a solo traveller who got a lot of good care from both the manager and his crew. It was quite rainny on my last day in Istanbul and my only pair of sport shoes I took with me were like flooded with water. They helped drying them for me without me asking for it. This was supper impressive extra service I got there. The room and amenities were good in place. The food was good. I got a perfect trip in Istanbul after all.
Hotel was located near to all the tourists attraction for eg. Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet, Grand bazaar etc. Checking in was fast and the staffs were really friendly and helpful during our stay. The restaurant located just below from hotel was a great place to dine in or just sit for a cup of coffee and the atmosphere was fantastic. The only bad thing about the hotel is that the rooms only have 1 light and no ceiling lights as we prefer our room to be bright.
Hotel location is great. Staff are very helpfull”
Everything were good Staff: were very helpfull Location just by the tram where you can take it and go everywhere on istanbul. Food: downstairs was delecious The only thing is Rooms are small. Otherthan that everything were great
We arrived at 2am, but as I have informed them earlier, they waited for me. The location of the hotel is awesome as it is just beside Tramvay (station: Gulhane Park) and it is just a walking distance to Sultanahmet attraction area (5-10 mins). The hotel is clean and modern, room is a bit small but it is enough for me and my family. Blu Kitchen also have a good varieties of food, Testi Kebap is must try dish. The only bad side is the hotel lift only start at 1st floor which is lobby. So I have to carry my baby and her baby stroller up and down the stairs from 1st floor to ground floor. Other than that, it is just perfect.
Shopping stop over”
I found that the location was good it was in the heart of the old city. Although this was a bit noisy at night with the tram going past from time to time at night. The internet was fast and the room was although a little small it was however nice and well designed.
Wish we had more time!”
We picked the Faros because we wanted to stay somewhere convenient with our 2 year old. In terms of location, it's great - a 5 minute walk to the Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque and with the tram stop more or less outside, v easy to get to Eminonu for the Spice Bazaar or across the bridge to Beyoglu. Food was also v good...staying there gave us a 15% discount at the restaurant below. Service was v friendly and our little 2 year old was v we'll looked after. The buffet breakfast was good and simple. Our room was small but well designed. Clean, modern but with a Turkish flair!
