Superb African Hospitality!”
What wonderful staff you employ Blue Marlin! I only have the most positive things to say about my entire stay with you. From the friendly (but very efficient) staff at the car park entry to the staff at reception, I can only but applaud every single person. Not once was I greeted with anything other than a huge smile and the most willing (and very capable) attitude. My room was spotlessly cleaned every day and the white linen on the beds and crisp white towels in the bathroom were a joy to my very 'picky' self. I booked a 'superior' sea view room and that was exactly what I got!!! Go Blue Marlin! That's not always the case with online booking. There was always something fresh and inviting to eat at breakfast (I was out until late every day) and again, everyone on the dining room floor was seriously professional and ever so friendly! Seriously, if you want to experience the very best 'South African' hospitality... go and stay at the Blue Marlin. I'm going back. Definitely.

Overnight stay”
Friends and my husband and I stayed overnight on 7th July this year. My husband is disabled and uses a mobility scooter. No problems accessing various areas around the hotel and grounds. The buffet dinner was awesome, so many choices and so little room in the stomach to accomodate it all. We were lucky that night that the hotel hosted a cabaret act, what fun and how the laughter flowed. The staff couldn't do enough to assist us in any way. Definitely recommend.

Neat, clean room. Staff very friendly, food good but there were some renovations happening in the main dining room. It looked like a pizza oven was being installed. Once this is complete then it will be super. I found having to walk backwards and forwards from the vehicle parking into the hotel a bit inconvenient as the only access is though the main hotel door and during our stay it was raining during our 2 nights stay. But other than that the reception staff were super friendly!

Family Beach Holiday”
We are a family of 4 International travelers. Upon checking in the front desk staff greeted us nicely. They had welcoming beverages set up at the door, but no clean glasses for us to get drinks. We were only offered 1 room key for all 4 of us. The hotel lobby was nice and bright. We had a family room, 2 bedrooms 1 bath. The bathroom was very old and outdated. There were soap holders o the shower walls that were completely broken with rusted nails showing. The shower curtain was smaller than the shower so the floor would get soaked when used. There were small nails sticking out of the floor between the bathroom tile and bedroom carpet. This was repaired after asking management. There was not any air conditioner in the room. There was a daily breakfast buffet, which was good, unfortunately there is not an alacart menu. The hotel had a decent swimming pool but not nearly enough seats for the amount of guests staying. The hotel severed its purpose, gave us a place to sleep.

Weekend getaway with the family. ”
Pros Staff were all very friendly. Catered for a wide variety of guests. Good quality and variety of food. Close proximity to Durban so perfect for a relaxing getaway. Cons Dinner time was a bit late for small children. Certain parts of the hotel were looking a bit dated and could have been cleaner. All in all a great weekend away with the family.

Lovely Easter break, not without problems”
We arrived for a 5 night stay over Easter. We were shown to our room which was not what we booked ( a superior room) We complained to the manager and were moved to another room. However clearly they had not expected to use this room as it was not cleaned and pretty dirty. Back to the manager who was not sympathetic, we waited hours for the room to be cleaned. The manager then realised the scale of the problem and was very apologetic and gave us a bottle of wine. He remained friendly and concerned about us for the rest of the stay. Our room was very nice, recently refurbished and nice views. A small issue was the shower door did not extend far enough so the bathroom floor got very wet The food was good quality but to our taste over salted and all the meat and fish over cooked Despite a shaky start we enjoyed the hotel and would return

The hotel is really a bit more of an old school resort. The restaurant is more of a dining room. the food was average to good. The service however was really poor at times, from staff feedback it seems the hotel retrenched a lot of staff before the holiday season, so it would take 20 minutes to get the bill, 10 to 20 minutes to get a menu. The rooms are clean and neat and well sized. I think families with young kids would enjoy the hotel and pools a lot more than we did. One thing that stuck me as odd is that you are threatened with a R500 fine for not wearing a mask, but we saw a number of staff not wearing masks or wearing them on their chins etc. It was hot and wearing a mask was almost unbearable. My only issue with covid regulations in any establishment, is if you threaten people make sure your staff comply. It's been a rough year for the tourism industry and I wish all the best to the hotel and staff for 2021.

Stay without a lift”
Good to excellent. The lift was problematic. We had extensive luggage after the sani2c event, and were left to use the stair case to the top floor. Restaurant staff were not on the same excellent standard as the reception staff.

Very nice upgraded units”
We stayed in room 101, a far walk in heels on the grass ( attended a wedding, reason for the night stay) The staff were so friendly, even arranging an earlier check in in order to get dressed for the event. There was unfortunately a HUGE cockroach in.our bathroom the Saturday evening And we did not get our breakfast pack that we requested when checking in aa we had a very early check out. Overall, a good stay. Would love to visit again and

Terrible Experience”
Room 43, not what was expected as per brochure or location pictures, carpets dirty, window did not close so monkeys got in and trashed the place, lost over R1000 snacks and drinks for the weekend, staircase awful and exterior entrance leads out to back of buildings waste water area, a really sore sight, ants in room , 5cm sign hidden behind curtains warning guests of monkeys did not help.....a really awful and experience and a waste of holiday money.....Would like to be refunded as the place did not meet what was advertised on the website. My family of four stayed at the hotel for the weekend and had booked two rooms. Check in was ok, the staff was friendly and welcoming, especially the male staff. We had requested inter leading rooms which were not provided.The two rooms booked were clean and comfortable.In one room , the lock was damaged ,so the door would not lock properly from inside. The breakfast was good but the queue was always to long due to waiting at the egg station..It would be great to separate the egg station from the main breakfast buffet area.Dinner was average. Overall facilities were good and the kids enjoyed the day activities.
