This centrally located property succeeds in being both hospitable and comfortable. Located in the historic Lower East Side, the Blue Moon Hotel is one for the romantics and artisans with its stylized rooms providing a unique and whimsical New York City stay. The 22 spacious rooms feature high ceilings and an eclectic mix of antique and luxury furnishings. Just like its surroundings, the hotel itself is rich in local history, something the artist owner will happily discuss over morning bagels and coffee. Nearby, guests can experience a side of Manhattan, usually reserved for locals with Soho, Chinatown, and Little Italy within walking range. Complimentary breakfast, a complimentary glass of wine upon arrival, and a complimentary gym pass are also offered at the discretion of the Blue Moon Hotel.

Great for a one night stay”
I needed to stay a night in NY after my flight landed and take a bus to my college from Chinatown. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and felt my luggage was safe in my room, despite having a bunk bed in a room if 4 strangers. Would recommend this place.
They must have serious order management, female can be seem as male, when I check in, they said “there is no female room available bed for you, because I think your are a man, please go to another hotel, it’s not far, just 10min walk.” However, I despair my luggage in the early of the day and the staff confirmed my reservation,How could they made the mistake?
Good location, nice hotel”
Overall, it was nice to stay at this hotel. Great location, not far to walk from metro station. I booked 4 bed females room, and the room didn't look like what they posted on website. The room I stayed have 2 queen size bed, and 2 rolled over beds jam together which make the room really small and no space to put my luggage so I have to put my luggage on my bed. Plus, on checking in, they told me to move to another room on the last night that I stayed there, which was really weird (I asked a few girls who stay there before me and they said they've been move around a few times as well, and they hate that they have to pack and unpack again and again!). So on the last night that I stayed there, they put me in the room with 3 bunk beds that fit 6 people (I thought I booked 4 bed female room!) so I think they really should improve this part, try not to move the guest around!
I would recommend Blue Moon. It is located in a quiet part of town. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room and towels were very clean. I would have to stay though that we onl had 4 TV channels although the menu said there were more.
Paid for 2 nights and they let me check in for only one night”
My flight was rerouted so i arrived at the hotel very early in the morning the next day (I booked for the room the previous night). They sold my room to someone else and said never got my money (though I paid agoda more than a month in advance). They refused to refund me and Agoda never replied to my email. Very bad customer service from both !!!
Blue Moon Hotel totally exceeded my expectations and I'm glad I stayed! ”
I paid $64, *including* tax to stay overnight at the Blue Moon Hotel. I'm giving Nkue Moon 5 stars all the way because you just can't expect something this good for such a budget price in NYC. 1. Location convenient to the subway, restaurants and bars 2. Beautiful appearance from the outside and warm clean European style lobby, smells good 3. The evening and AM staff were friendly, helpful for my check in and checkout 4. There's a back area w tables so you can hang out on wifi 5. I was lucky, I booked a shared room, 6 beds, for women. I ended up in a shared room with three beds, all women. 6. The bathroom big and sparkly. Excellent water pressure for the shower 7. Clean room- it's not fancy, it's a little "tired" but who cares!!! I wanted a safe, clean spot to rest my head for one night in NYC and I got it! For $64 including tax??? Thank you Blue Moon!!! If I can add pics to this I will.
Best price and area”
Blue moon hotel is your answer if you're looking for a good price and nice area. You can walk 4mins to the subway station and there are many good restaurants, bars or coffee shops around this place. I stayed 9 nights. In the future, if I have to stay in NYC I'll choose this hotel for sure! : )
Clean and comfortable!
Much better than I had expected!”
I knew places in NYC were expensive, and I was traveling on a budget, so I went for one of the cheapest places I could find. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very clean room and thoroughly enjoyed my short stay. I would definitely stay again :)
The so-called hostel is like a hotel room for several people. They share the same toilet inside a normal hotel room. There are several beds in the hotel. The facilities are not bad with that price. But just to expect it's not very typical. Somehow I don't feel safe with such setting.
I stayed in a private room which was converted to a dormitory. 3 minutes walk from the hotel are the club's pubs and plenty of other nightlife stuff to do. this hotel is excellent for all the people that wants to party and for those who are not it is quiet during night. I enjoyed my stay there a lot.
Nice place but horrible management ”
But management is horrible.....I book female only with four bed but they try to give me mix gender with six bed.........I have to stand in the front desk and show my persistent attitude and waste 30 mins than they finally give me the right room.
Had a lovely evening at the Blue Moon Hotel. It is located in a vibrant part of NY. The room had a great vintage feel and the room was perfectly sized. The staff was beyond courteous and they accommodated every need. I would stay there again and recommend to anyone.
great space, friendly staff”
great, room was spacious and well appointed, great old style fixtures. in room safe didn't work and balcony was shared (unexpected) but we will be visiting this place again. We kept saying i think we found "our kind of place"
Nice hotel & staff - artsy hotel”
We are a family of 4 and we would stay here again. Clean rooms and larger than average. Attentive staff and eager to help with anything. You need to leave your key or else your room won't get any housekeeping though (sometimes it is hard to remember this in the hustle & bustle of getting out to your next destination!) We didn't really have a problem with this the one time we forgot to leave our key though. We stayed 3 nights and were allowed an early check in - parking garage was within 3 blocks. Initially they said they were full but informing them that we were staying at the Blue Moon opened up a space for our car. Continental breakfast was bagels and some fruit, orange juice and coffee, nice to have but it always seemed that patrons needed to ask for more glasses and mugs for the drinks. Located 2 blocks from the subway was very convenient and we were always within 20 minutes of our destination. We found the rooms to be clean and quiet with hair dryer, mini fridge & a GREAT shower :) The TV also had a DVD player but the tv stations were lacking (no ESPN or NBC?) - not a giant problem just seemed weird when we wanted to watch the baseball all-star game at night and the Today show ion the morning. We had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel.
Never got to the hotel but my money was taken away even though I called to cancel. It’s unfair ”
I was booking through Agoda for my staying in New York on June 28-29 to Blue Moon Hotel. My money was already taken from my credit card and I called several time to cancel but no one picked up or answered or cared. There was a misstake on the booking as I’m a man and made an error to book in a room for females. Called Blue Moon and also my credit card that promised to start an investigation while I was booking again properly to the same place but this time for the same nights on the right rooms. My money was gone I arrive in New York but no place was ever reserved for me So I ended up other places paying several times more I want my money back as I did not use that Blue Moon Hotel and never got a service not an answer Pls reimburse my money for all this mess and the poor service while I had to spend money to stay in New York in other hotels You can confirm with Blue hotel if I ever went there or had the luck to been offered anything from them ( except unprofessional asnwners)
The team is amazing and they will do whatever it takes to satisfied you and make your stay a beautiful experience.
A great base ”
Relaxed. quiet, quirky and convenient for travel.
Excellent value bed for the night if you don't mind sharing a room with strangers!
NOT GOOD ”
it appears a lot of people like the below but i wasnt keen. - tv said 40 channels 2 worked - used the DVD player but oh wait that didnt work either - got told off for using the toilet as i apparently blocked it and i guess it can only handle a single square of loo roll at a time - dont think my bedding was fresh cleaned on arrival. they also didnt make the bed or attempt to freshen the room the next day. someone tried to hoover which felt more like lip service so i asked them not to bother. - grimey place that seems like its being sqeezed for money and not a cent is reinvested. (im now staying at the raddison now for the same money). I have stayed in hostels fair superior. - the cupboard had dirty pillows/cushions/covers piled in like a child had tried to tidy up and sweep things under the rug. - no phone in room (manual says there is one) - internet was awful - coffee machine which was faulty. no milk or sugar included. manahed to work the machine on day 1 (i went out to purchase milk) but not replaced. i would rate this as a 1 star 'hotel' if your stay will cost more than $70 i would avoid. only benefit is now my next hotel feels AMAZING!!
