Blue Ocean Resort Mui Ne”

Setting, pool, and accomodation
Food in the restaurant in the evening disappointing

Stayed at the Blue Ocean Resort Mui Ne from 9th May to 13th May 2010. The hotel is located fairly centrally between Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. The hotel itself is excellently located, right on the beautiful beach in lovely palm shaded gardens. The pool is excellent and there are plenty of loungers by the pool and the adjacent beach. The accomodation is comfortable and clean with a private seating area outside the room. Breakfast was served right by the beach and was excellent. The only downside was that the evening meals in the restaurant were disappointing but there are plenty of local restaurants nearby. Overall the Blue Ocean is an amazing place to spend a few days (or more if you're lucky enough)and I will definitely be back to visit as soon as possible!!

very relaxing stay”

The gardens the beach and the friendliness of staff

This was the second stay at Blue Ocean so we were familiar with the resort. We decided to stay because of a great deal through Agoda and because we knew this was a peaceful place. I had a problem with my laptop while at the resort and panicked thinking that the worst thing had happened and maybe my documents were lost but the IT manager made another profile for me so I could get into my skype and desktop. Both he and the manager were very reassuring for me, offering to pick up an external hard drive for me in Phan Tiet. I hadn't expected such help and was so relieved by their care. If we come to Mui Ne again we wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

Amazing experience”

1) Spacious Room

Let me say first that I'd actually afraid when booking Blue Ocean due to some reviews here on Tripadvice but then I decided why wouldn't we give this resort a chance because in the end, my experience would be much different than other experience here. After a long trip, we finally arrived at Blue Ocean resort at 4 PM, and we were cordially welcomed by friendly staff with their welcome drink and towel. Smooth check-in, take us only 5 mins to receive our keys and were escorted to our superior room. Our room situated near the road, which worried me a bit since I read some of the reviews here stating that these rooms seemed receiving a lot outside noise, but our 2 nights were GREAT with absolute no noise at all, very quiet and peaceful. Ok, here is my evaluation of our 2 nights stays: - Lovely note from the resort, placed on the table when we first arrived in the room. This was the general welcome note, but the great thing is that they had a personal touch - with your name on this. I think this is absolutely the great first impression for me. - Calm lemongrass aroma that lingered around the room. When we arrived, they already put the essential oil burner on the table and suprised us with this fresh smell. Very dedicated effort (and it might be my bias since I love pampering myself with essential oil, so I'm amazed - as no resort I've been ever done this) - Spacious Room!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't express enough how SUPRISED I was when I took a tour around the room and bathroom - very, very huge, and I'm loving it. - Cute bathroom - again, enormous bathroom with lovely wooden bowl storing towels and some personal items. I think I will be great if we have some essential oil burners here as well (but this could be too much to ask for :)) - Nice pool & beach view - very neat and clean place. I didn't see any chairs being reserved, maybe the resort had taken notice on this. Overall, I'm really really happy with my stay here, and would definitely come back and recommend my frien

Wow what a great place to stay”

Location is perfect

What a fantastic room - Garden Bungalow - we even had an ocean view from the front. Would like to spend more time here, the rooms are large and spotless. Some beach left in front but missing up further due to storms. The pool is large and great for laps. The resort along with Mui Ne in general was quite but that suited us. Lots of waves which again was great as we are used to the Gold Goast in Australia. The staff were friendly but lacked english skills, I hired a bike from the resort and rode up the Mui Ne fishing village which is only 25 minutes away while my wife attended the local cooking school which we enjoyed very much.. Stayed at another resort close by last December but will be back to Blue Ocean again in the near future.

Excellent hotel for romance and relaxation”

Beautiful rooms, great beach and fantastic staff

Went to Mui Ne for a romantic getaway and Blue Ocean did not disappoint. First impressions were excellent: attentive staff, attractive gardens and a huge, very tasteful room and bathroom. Our room (Superior) had no beach view but we enjoyed sitting on our porch with a glass of wine. We spent our whole time on the hotel stretch of beach which has some nice loungers (though not loads so might be difficult to get one when it's busy) and has beautiful clean sand. There are lots of kitesurfers but that's standard in Mui Ne and it's fun to watch. We loved the breakfast and had some nice snacks in the day. We didnt try the dinner menu (there's a great Italian restaurant across the street which we went to instead). I particularly was impressed by the restaurant/bar prices - 30,000 for a beer, 120,000 for a burger and fries - not inflated hotel prices at all. All in all, we had a great stay and I can't think of any negatives. Planning on going back soon!

Sun and relaxation”

Lovely staff who were always happy to help. Nice big rooms and a lovely balcony to laze on as the sun went down.
One block of the hotel has its rear facing onto the road, so traffic can be disturbing.

The hotel is located between Phan Thiet and Mui Ne. However, there are sufficient shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood and, of course, a number of other hotels. This area is basically a resort for lying in the sun and the hotel delivers on this score. There's a great pool and it's child friendly. For example, I was there on Christmas Eve and they'd laid on Santa for the kids. The breakfast was good and a good mix of Asian and Western things. The hotel has it's own quiet section of beach, though the beach beds here, unlike the pool area, are a bit tatty. At the time of year I visited, there was a lot of surf, so the sea is not suitable for swimming, but there are loads of watersports available. I was initially placed in the building closest to the road but, after experiencing a restless night (there was a one-off event in the restaurant opposite) the staff were more than happy to move me.

Beautiful Hotel and Location”

Great Food, Great Location

We stayed 4 nights at Blue Ocean in a Garden View Bungalow. We were on our Honey Moon and were staying in a few different types of Hotels on our trip. This was the most expensive one but was also one of the nicest. Our Bungalow was very nice and had the nicest bathroom of out trip. The bed was comfortable and the room was cleaned daily. We were about 30 seconds from the beach so unless you want to be right on the sand you don't need to get a beachfront room. I think the garden bungalows are in a better location the the poolview rooms as they are right next to the pool and you don't get much privacy. And the seaview rooms don't give you that great a view to warrant the extra price. The resort is well kept and the staff were great. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the food of the menu was good. We went to the spa one day and it is very nice also. We were probably the youngest people at the resort (30 and 32) by at least 10 years. It didn't matter much to us as we were just looking for a relaxing place. The beach is very nice but at about 1pm the wind starts to pick up and that is when all the kite boarders come out, so you may want to head to the pool after that. Overall the resort is about what we expected for the price and is probably one of the nicest places on the beach.

Found nothing

Stayed 1 day in the bungalow and 5 days in the Superior room. The only difference is that the bungalow is standing alone, and the superior room is in a building. But if you have the grondfloor one its the same and a little bit bigger. This resort is for relaxing and having some quality time with your partner. We enjoyed staying here very much. If we wil come back to Phan Thiet we will surely stay here again. Note: if you go by bus, just say to the guide wich hotel or resort you're staying, the moment you reach Phan Thiet. Because if the pass by, they will not turn the bus for you. Love this place.....!!!!

My favorite place in town.”

I have stayed at a plethora of different resorts and hotels in my 10+ years of visiting Mui Ne and Blue Ocean is easily my favorite. The staff are great, the hotel itself is quite pretty and they've maintatined their beach area well unlike a lot of places in town which suffer from serious erosion issues. Also they play Toots and the Maytals in the restaurant and have a friendly cat as an impromptu mascot. Highly recommended.

Beautiful location, guest services needs attention”

Pretty beach, nice pool, huge rooms, clean place.

We stayed at the Blue Ocean for 5 nights. The room (superior) was huge and spotlessly clean, with a lovely very comfortable bed, big telly with international channels, bathrobes, coffe/tea making facilities and a very big outside lounge area. Only downside were the pillows, which felt like balloons, but this is a personal matter.Upon arrival the frontoffice welcomes you with refreshing drinks and a cold towel. A porter later on takes your luggage to your room and provides you with a "room tour". Since we were very tired (and ill) from travelling, we decided to order roomservice on our first evening. Now, this turned out to be a challenge, since staffmembers, answering the phone, do not speak English very well. We ended up having a laugh about this, but it took quite a while to place the correct order and make them understand, we didn't want fried tuna, but fried camembert (doesn't sound the same to me??). Also on our last evening we made use of roomservice, but ended up being told that they were out of sushi, out of tuna and out of camembert because the delivery truck had not arrived. So choice was therefor a bit limited. The next morning, the leftovers of your foodorder, are still to be found in front of your doorstep, a bit sloppy, considering the insects around. Blue Ocean is located right in front of a beautiful beach, which is why we choose this accomodation. However, after breakfast it turned out to be a challenge to find a sunlounger every day! There were not enough sunloungers to accomodate all guests staying at the resort, meaning, we had to wait until after 12:30, when people were leaving their sunbeds, to be able to get a sunbed and enjoy the cool seabreeze. This was at the pool, since the sunbeds facing the sea were impossible to get, until after 16.00 o'clock. Breakfast was very varied, with a broad selection of eastern and western food. Breakfast is served until 10:00,arrive around 09:40 at the latest, since they clean the whole place up promptly at 10

Blue Ocean Resort Phan Thiet”

Excellent location, great pool and lovely accommodation. The hotel is a must both for relaxation and locality.

The Blue Ocean should not be missed. Ideally situated on the Central East Coast of Vietnam, it provides excellent accommodation, private beach and a great pool. We used the Sinh Cafe Open Bus to transport us from HCM and the hotel made all the necessary arrangements for the cafe to pick us up at the hotel and take us onto our next destination. The hotel is ideally situated right in the heart of Mui Ne and is surrounded by great shops and restaurants. If you are looking for some beach side relaxation then we rate the hotel as one of the best hotels on the Vietnam Central Coast.

We are a group of 4 travelling from Nha Trang to HCMC and made a stop over at Phan Thiet. The hotel is really near to the bus stop. The hotel staff are friendly, our rooms had garden view which are very near to the swimming pool. The resort is very quiet and like all other resort in Phan Thiet, it's very accessible to famous tourist attraction.

good standard hotel with confortable rooms and lovely gardens, set right on the beautiful beach at mui ne. had a great stay here, blue ocean is a very well kept and clean resort. the grounds are just lovely and the swimming pool is excellent. the only let down was the food. we only ate at the hotel one evening as there are excellent restaurants of every type nearby and their restaurant tended to be pretty empty each evening. breakfast was fine, but not great. a buffet breakfast with lots of choice, but not great quality. however every other aspect of the hotel was very good and we would definately recommend it.

Vietnam Coast first stop”

- Beachfront location - Room standards - Pool
- Cost of food and drink for the area

Our first stop at the beautiful resort of Mui Ne was at the Blue Ocean. The hotel is very up to date and in a fantastic location where you can just wander from the pool area to the beach right in front of the hotel. We were staying in a superior garden view room which was very spacious and had a lovely wet room style bathroom. The room was literally less than 10m from the pool with a ground floor balcony with day bed in front of it. A nice touch was a bowl of fruit delivered to our room on the first day, including some lovely passion fruit, Unfortunately this led to the only real gripe with the hotel. The next morning, the cleaner came and did her duties around the room and the finished fruit plate and knives were put out onto our verranda. These stayed there until our checkout over 24hrs later! I was extremely surprised by this seeing as hotel staff walked past the room very regularly! We ate at the restaurant for lunch on the first day and have to say that the menu looked a lot better than it tasted, this was mirrored at breakfast as well. You could tell that this must have been the general feeling of the guests as the restaurant at the hotel looked very quiet at lunch and dinner, I guess that most people were trying the numerous other restaurants in the area which provided better value as well. Overall, for the room and the location I would recommend this hotel but for food and drink I would say go out and explore! For a better overall experience I would recommend going to our 2nd hotel in Mui Ne just down the road which was The Sailing Club. I can't review on this site as we could not book there at the time through Agoda, but do know that they usually do deal with this hotel. Check trip advisor for the review of this amazing hotel

Best in Mui Ne”

location, beauty

this is the second time i've been to blue ocean and i will be returning next time i go to vietnam. what more needs to be said other than the location is perfect, the grounds immaculate, the food is tasty and you can kiteboard right off the hotel ... the rooms are spacious, the staff pleasant and mui ne is one of my favourite places on the globe.

Great hotel, great pool and very good services”

Great pool

i spent few days in this resort and very happy because my room has great view, the staff are friendly, i enjoyed so much the pool and the garden. but the only sad thing happened to me is eating at the restaurant opposite of this resort. i want to share my very bad experience at that restaurant called golden sand. while eating with my husband there i simply asked them to serve my a bowl of rice which i ordered earlier, but they said ' no more rice' without excuses or giving another suggestion. i went to ask the manager why they did not warn us when we ordered, he said ' we do not serve you vietnamese, we only serve foreigners don't you see it? get out of here'. i was so surprised by that answer for the bowl of rice. we wanted to leave tips for the staff, the waitress said ' please do not leave us tips because the owner keeps them all and we do not have tips from clients'. i left quite upset and feeling ashamed of my own country because i have eaten with my english husband all over the world and the only place i suffered racist, insults and humiliation is in my own country. i strongly feel so sorry for people who work in that restaurant. after my experience i heard that the owner in the past have aggressed and beaten up some clients of the hotel. anyone suffered racist treatment would understand and share with me how much i feel. thank you for reading and enjoy blue ocean resort but please do not eat at golden sand restaurant opposite the hotel.

Great hotel with a relaxed atmoshpere.”

Fabulous position, well maintained, large rooms with great balcony.

Blue Ocean Resort was a savior as we had been travelling around Vietnam for two weeks and were really looking forward to a quiet relaxing break on the beach. The hotel grounds were beautifully maintained and our room was well appointed. I would definitely recommend Blue Ocean Resort to anyone looking for a beach break.

2nd time at this resort + still a very nice place.”

Location, comfort + peacefulness.

We are a family of 4 with 2 young children + 2nd time at Blue Ocean. It's a quaint peaceful resort with a beach. Breakfast is rather good with fresh fruits + a mix of Western + Vietnamese fares. Internet is fast + comfortable room. We had a standard Queen bed (but they refer it to a double) with a balcony which was great. My young son could sleep on the balcony chaise's mattress which was removable. The only issue with MUI NE is the long, long trip there. Whether it's by bus or car, it will take 5 to 6 hours, not 4.5 hours as advertised everywhere. We left on a Thursday + back on Saturday which had rather light traffic. Restaurants across the street are double the price of most local ones. Try Lam Tong restaurant (92 D Nguyen Dinh Chieu) for a local beach side ambience + food. It's not too bad + very reasonable. Same side of street as hotel + a 20 minutes walk or catch a taxi for 25,000 VND. ($1.15USD).

Good resort hotel”

Pool, beach, room

This is the typical resort hotel but only breakfast included. Breakfast is buffet and very good but eating at the hotel (excluding breakfast) is expensive. Location is good since Mui Ne is very long and this is in a central area close enought to town center. Hotel is clean, beach is good and quiet, pool is great. Very large and clean room, great bathroom, very good staff. The only bad thing we had was that internet was not available in our room all the time but they fixed it later.
