For resort lovers”
We stayed in the Maribago Bluewater for 10 days. Never been to Philippines before, so destination Cebu was chosen when being not based on previous experience. Cebu itself lacks of good sand beaches, so if you are interested of them when out of resort, you really should consider another destination, like Boracay or Palawan islands. Mactan island itself for my opinion has beaches inside resorts´ area. Maribago Bluewater is a hotel for purely resort-lover type of people. Service/price relation in my opinion was good. We payed something like 900 euros for 10 day stay breakfast included. When arriving to Mactan Intl Airport you are met by helpful taxi "pimps", getting to Maribago Bluewater takes something like 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. It is not reasonable to pay more than 300 pesos for taxi trip from the airport.
One of Cebu's pride”
My husband and I traveled to Cebu to celebrate Valentine's day in Bluewater Maribago. That was actually our long and overdue honeymoon trip that was highly recommended by a friend. My husband is laid-back type, while I is quite an on-the-go person. The most fitting place for us to stay is where we can both husband could relax and have some activities, to which Bluewater Maribago can both offer. They have water sports activities, a nice view of the beach and you'd feel really having a vacation when you're there. We brought our 3 yr old daughter with us because she longed to go to the beach and build sandcastles. When I research about the resort, pools were kid-friendly. It's not just ideal for couples, but also for families too.
Nice and Safe”
I really enjoyed my stay at Maribago Bluewater Resort. As soon as we entered the area we were greeted by a huge gate for security reasons. I like this place already I said to myself. I arrived at night so I didn't get to see much of the grounds then but in the morning when I walked around the area I was very impressed with everything. Very nice layout that was well kept. The pool was very nice and they were remodeling the other pool but from what I could see is going to be a nice touch. The beach was very clean and offered service at your table. The food was good as well not great but good. There are shops within walking distance and a couple of restaurants around the area as well. You are about 15 minutes by taxi away from anything on Mactan Island and 30 minutes from Cebu city. The resort will call a street taxi for you and take down the drivers info to help with the cab ripping off the tourist concept. In which case I thought was a great little ammenity. The ride from the resort to Cebu city ranged from Php 200 to 350. I stayed in the Amuma Spa suite and wish I would have picked a place on the beach but maybe next time. I like this resort and I would give it a 8 out of 10. The staff was great and the resort was very clean. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to any of my friends looking to stay in this area.
Absolutely loved it!”
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of service and amenities, given the relatively low rates. We didn’t expect the resort to be so beautiful. Some additional costs may be considered pricey by some, but it was worth every penny. PROs: - gorgeous and spacious room with bathtub - good variety of food options inside the resort - close proximity to other restaurants, cafes, grocery, etc (either walking distance or via tricycle) - wonderful and attentive service - clean white-sand beach - well-maintained facilities (pools, grounds, etc) - offers resort activities (we took the island hopping tour with lunch and snorkeling. The staff was friendly and took great care of us. The food and service was amazing!) - themed buffet offers a diverse dining choice. We tried the Thursday buffet (Southern Delights) and treated to a great selection of food and desserts. Cost is php 1k-1.5k pax. CONs - did not respond promptly to our email inquiries, and website was down and not too informative - cost of in-resort food and activities may be considered pricey for some (we were able to check out the resort rates ahead of time, so we were prepared. Rates may be comparable to standard Makati, Manila rates) - sink in our room was semi-clogged, so it took a while for water to go down RECOMMENDATIONS: - contact the hotel ahead of time to check out rates of restaurants and activities, so that you can better anticipate the cost. If you find it too pricey, there are several nearby restos (we recommend Maribago Grill, Cafe Rico) - If you can manage the budget, head over to The Cove for lunch. Fresh seafood, and fantastic view - if you choose to go island hopping, avail of the freshly cooked lunch vs the packed lunch. For 2pax, we were served food enough for 4pax (grilled chicken, fish, pork, puso, and fresh fruits) - make sure to bring all your necessities as the in-resort store is quite expensive. Or you can purchase what you need from the nearby groceries (Savemor
A holiday at Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort”
I enjoyed my stay at the Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort and would recomment it to anyone wanting to stay in Cebu. The food in the hotel was of a consistently high quality and the staff well trained and attentive, The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. Unfortunately there is not much happening outside the hotel and one has to make the 40 minute trip to Cebu City to shop and look around.
We will stay here again”
the only negative was the water in the shower as it was not fresh. the entire stay was perfect. the breakfast was plentiful and the service was so kind. cebu (and mactan island) is not famous for the beaches (other islands have better beaches in the philippines)...but bluewater resort has a large amount of beach front and (as all beaches in cebu) its private. the resort (again, like all in cebu) are far from the city center...and the island itself doesn't have much to do. if you enjoy staying in the resort and eating at one of its 3 restaurants...then there will be no problem. again, this is a place we would 100% visit again.
Great Value-Service and Amenities”
Overall, I would definitely go back to the Maribago Bluewater for it's nice beach, water sports, island hopping amenities and it's swimming pool.the resort staff is very friendly and courteous. The food in the restaraunts were also good avoiding going out in the crazy traffic that surrounds the city of Cebu.
maribago bluewater beach resort have a private beach, you can go to the beach by the small boat or even swim, the private beach is very nice with the white sand, we can stay there for whole day, is really relaxing. the 2 swimming pool is very nice also, the hotel room is big & nice. we always stay at the hotel & haven't outside very much, coz we really enjoy the hotel facility & we had a wonderful holiday in maribago, we will come back again.
Magnificent stay at Bluewater Maribago Beach Resor”
We had our honeymoon at Bluewater Maribago on March 3, 1996. We just returned to show our kids how beautiful Maribago is. I can say that the way their treat their clients improved a lot. The staff are approachable and knowledgeable about the need of the customers. How I wish the rate could be lower next time. We are still planning to return in Cebu and stay again at Maribago
Good for 3 days”
Bluewater Beach Resort is an outstanding place to spend a few days outside the chaos of the city. It's peaceful and the staff will make sure you have nothing to be worried of. The surroundings and buildings (2 floors maximum) are convenient and will give you a cozy feeling. Unlike some neigbouring resorts with huge buildings. The place is not too big, so I assume a getaway from 2-3 days is enough. If you plan to stay longer, I suggest you move to another resort after those days, so you see different things. The food is simply said: amazing. I have been living in the Philippines for almost a year now and always been disappointed with the food. Not in this resort! It starts with an amazing intercontinal breakfast buffet (from Croissants to Korean/Japanese soup, from kanelbule to rice). In the evening you can choose between various places and there is always a buffet with a theme. Everyday day another theme with a band/singer. Since it's a resort, the prices are above avarage (compared to the city), but still very acceptable compared to back home. I read somewhere that you should not stay on this island and that all places are like fortresses! Well, if that is so, then lock me up in those fortresses forever :)
Great location, facilities and good value for money”
After a slightly disappointing start, we were welcomed by Gene the food and beverages manager who made sure every aspect of our stay was comfortable and memorable. We would definitely stay at Bluewater Maribago next time we visit Cebu/Mactan.
Great breakfast buffet.”
I enjoyed my stay at Maribago. we stayed at the amuma suite. The resort is huge and well maintained. There's a lot of staff to attend to your needs. I loved their breakfast buffet and lunch buffet. Its quite pricey though so it might be a good idea to eat out! Grocery shop outside for water and nibbles as the resorts' food is quite pricey. We did parasailing and jetski and enjoyed that very much. Island hopping is a must do here. I am not so sure about swimming in their beach as its not that inviting. You want to go to bantayan island if you want nice clean beaches. The only thing i did not like was that there wasnt any internet in the rooms. You had to pay extra to have internet in your room. Otherwise you have to hang around in their cafes if you want wifi. So i basically hang around in the cafe near the pool. I suggest they put some LAN in the rooms if they dont want wifi. Our tv in our huge room was tiny. A bigger flat screen would have been nice.We basically stayed at the resort while we were here coz it was enjoyable. The gym is good. The big malls are in the main land so if you wanna be nearer to the malls you might want to stay in cebu city and not here in mactan island. I would stay here again.
Very nice beach with very friendly staff ”
My family enjoyed this stay at Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort so much! It's nothing like what some others said. The private beach is nice and big enough for its guests! The hotel also offers a variety of water sports for guests to take part in at okay prices! This hotel is the best for people who want a relaxing holiday without venturing outside too much.
A paradise retreat in Cebu”
My group had a wonderfullly relaxing week at Bluewater resort. We were upgraded on arrival as rooms were available, and despite our very late arrival, were given a comprehensive tour of our rooms etc. The breakfast was exceptional for the price...huge variety and all very fresh. The 3 different pools meant residents were spread out well and the spa pool area where we were was so quiet and relaxing. the staff were pro active about checking our needs and amenable to food delivery to different locations etc. The happy hour at the Oyster bar was very good value. We went into the city each evening and the staff were prompt to find us taxis. My group preferred to go into the restaurants and bars of the the city, but the resort had such a variety of meal themes that it would have been a pleasure to stay there each night should you prefer. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort as a perfect oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of Maktan and Cebu City.
When I was looking at all the possible beach resorts my partner and I could book in Cebu, Maribago was one of the first few options that we looked into. I read a lot of reviews online because I don't live in the country and I trusted that a resort with at least 75% positive feedback would be worth the research. I'm happy to say that Maribago lived up to the hype. The room we initially checked into had an air conditioner that wasn't working properly, and upon contacting the front desk we were told that someone would look into it. We waited about half an hour to have it checked, and within a few minutes they offered us another room. It was convenient and we weren't charged extra. The only thing I can comment about is that the resort is kind of pricey for a student/young couple and I wish we didn't have to pay as much. Overall, my partner and I got the rest and relaxation we wanted out of this trip.
We had a great time in Cebu. Maribago hotel was a great choice. It had three swimming pools and they were all very nice. We hung out at the beach most of the time and the private beach was big enough and very nice. Hotel was clean and the food was good too. I would stay there when we go to Cebu again. There is a really good restaurant in front of the hotel, Maribago Grill. The price is good and the food is excellent.
The facilities were very nice, the staff was fantastic and everything was kept up and in good shape. Nice equipment in the gym too. The pools were nice and clean. The grounds were nicely maintained. The beach was clean too. My only gripe is that the water in the ocean was not clean. Unfortunately there was a lot of trash floating around in it. Not the fault of the hotel, just something to be aware of if somebody really wants to swim in the ocean. Mactan Island is just not the best place to be at if you are planning on spending time at the beach. That was not the reason I picked the hotel or location though. I picked this hotel because location was much better than staying in downtown Cebu and because of the closeness to the airport.
Stayed here for 4d3n with my husband and 11yo daughter. It was a nice vacation for us. Stayed at the Amara Suite which we got for a very discounted price. The area was perfect for us. I think it’s the most quiet area in the resort. One of their pools (there are 3 in all) were just right outside. The room is very spacious and the bathroom was enormous. My daughter enjoyed “swimming” in the tub after swimming all day in the beach and pool. Loved staying in the balcony area at the end of the day. Although it’s quite the farthest area to the beach and the restaurants. (The spa, gym, juice bar where you can order all the food from the other restaurants, lobby, and the front desk were all just within the area.) We actually preferred it cause it was far from the noise and busyness of the whole resort. The pool was also the less crowded compared to the other two. The place i think is perfect especially if you have young kids. They have a lot of kid-friendly activities; they have a kids club where there are daily activities. A pool area specially designed for kids, although all their pools are kid-friendly, Playground and even shark-feeding (tresher shark). Food was also exceptional. Especially from their Italian restaurant and The Cove (seafood). Although if you want more seafood selection at a cheaper price, try going to Lantaw Floating restaurant, a 20minute cab ride. It also has the 10,000 LED roses and a perfect view of the entire Cebu City Island. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. Overall an excellent vacation for us.
Excellent experience in Maribago”
The overall service is quite good although this hotel is only a 4-star hotel. All the staff are very nice and helpful. The environment is very quiet, comfortable and beautiful. Also, I can feel so secured inside the resort. Although the restaurants in the resort are a bit expensive, the quality is quite good compared to a restuarant (Maribago Grill) nearby the resort. I ate the same dish called "Lechon" (roasted pig) at "Allegro Restaurant" in the resort and Maribago Grill. The Lechon offered from Allegro Restaurant was so juicy but the one offered by Maribago Grill was very dry. All other foods in resort from Italian, seafood to dessert are good
Peaceful hotel with great service”
a friend and i stayed at the room and we were so surprised to find that not only was the room huge, but the bathroom was huge as well! i liked the fact that it was an open air bathroom, with nice smooth pebbles on the floor. we were in front of the swimming pool, so that was convenient. maribago bluewater resort is also huge and there's a lot of things to do. the water is clear, but be careful of the sea urchins at the sides of the beachfront. overall, its a great place for relaxation and rejuvenation.
