Bolgatty palace and island resort is located in the heart of Kochi yet a serene place to stay. I stayed in the marine view room and it was a good choice. Most recommended for families . Food is good, service personnel are very warm. Rooms neat, nice pool. This place also has a original Dutch palace that can be hired for about 10 k INR .

It is a visual treat to eyes, environment is pollution free, people working there are excellent. People in Kerala requires a smile to kick start the smile and hospitality just like any other place. I would love to come back but fully booked..

I traveled with my father and found the staff responsive but extremely slow in the Dining Area. There is one senior staff member there who is rather aggressive. I happened to ask them if there was a provision for Masala dosa at breakfast and he rudely responded, "No. Just Buffet." The next day however my dad asked for an extra and they did give him. I think the restaurant is terribly managed. Housekeeping and even reception area directly starts talking in Malayalam without asking if the customer is okay. What I loved is the ambience, the facilities, the room with a view and much time to spend by myself.

Ferry to Marine Drive and Fort Kochi make this a convenient location (much less so by car). Grounds are extensive. Boasts an outdoor pool (near dining area). Room smelled of mothballs. Not much room for cot, which turned out to be a foam mattress on the floor. Breakfast very Indian. Coffee is instant only. Nightly Kathakali dance performance with introduction to the form available. This 45 minute performance is a terrific introduction for foreigners curious about the form but not wanting to commit to the traditional 3-4 hour performance. Historic palace building quite interesting. Front desk staff helpful.

apparently this hotel is state-owned. The staff is sometimes not helpful and unfriendly. Hotel charges for Wi-Fi-Use, 100 Rp per hour. Location: Far from Kochin City center. But good park and water view. There is a small ferry from the hotel to Ernakulam during day time.

Not a good experience”
We did not enjoy our stay here. It was very far away from everything (which makes it nice and peaceful) but inconvenient. Have to get a taxi anywhere you go. Staff were not very nice. The WiFi didn’t work in our room, so they moved us to a different room and kept telling us “we have moved you to very expensive room”, which we did not need, we just wanted WiFi, which also didn’t work in the new room. Breakfast is very basic. One day they had a buffet, and one we asked to just order off a menu. They kept changing the price of breakfast everytime we asked, and charged us different amounts for both days. For the price, it was not what we expected. You could get somewhere much nicer in Kochi for less money - avoid Bolgatty Palace.

NOT UPTO EXPECTATIONS”
A very good property to stay and enjoy, but a lot of improvements required. The room interiors to be modified to taste of inmates. Walls and floors to be renovated. Many areas are like storage, old beds are kept in piles at guest entrance. The restaurants are modified and modernize to meet guests satisfaction. During breakfast, the toaster was not working and controlled by the staff. No hot water for black tea, which is to be brought from far away kitchen. cups and plates are not enough for guests. No fruits are kept for breakfast. Since the property is by public sector, the expectation to meet guests satisfaction from the staff were limited especially on facilities provided. The room was reserved for couple with double occupancy and requested large bed , but wrongly entered as single guest by providing double large bed. Agoda was not reachable due to poor customer service contact for three days both in India and UK numbers and the property charged extra
