We stayed here after our Koh Lipe trip. When we arrived, we were greeted with delicious welcome drinks and we were so happy when we were told by the Manager (I believe) that they have upgraded our room. The room is clean and beautiful. The place is peaceful and quiet. The cats are so cute and friendly. Might not be a place for those who don't like cats and dogs though. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was so good. The view is so stunning especially during sunset. Truly one of a kind. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and we would definitely come back.
Stunning array of Malay heritage villas, reassembled around a lagoon and swimming pools, is an absolute delight to experience. Beautiful old world decor, wonderful staff and exceptional food in a relaxing atmosphere make this a very unique experience.
Nice experience staying in an old fisherman's house”
It was a nice experience staying in an old fisherman's house albeit refurbished with mod cons. Stayed in neighbouring Temple Tree some years ago; the feeling is similar but the bathroom in Bon Ton we got was more open to the environment. Food at the restaurant was good (expensive for local standards) although we thought that the signature laksa lacked oomph. The desserts and drinks were outstanding. The friendly staff were an asset and we also enjoyed having the company of the cats. Could hear planes until 1am but they didn't really bother us. If I have to nitpick, the front doors and bathroom doors couldn't shut tight, leaving gaps that allow mosquitoes to enter the room.
Room is so unique yet cultural, the food is superb, staffs are friendly, would definitely come back again!
Temple Tree and Bonton are SAME”
Booked through agoda for bonton. when arrived, hotel told it is not bonton but temple tree. if want to stay at bonton need to add 500rm. called agoda for help, agoda questioned me back what is the different. first and last bonton.
Good support from the staff”
My mate had laundry sent a night before , even if we were not able to collect it the time we checked out, the staff offered us the help to delivery to airport. Towards the end, we didnt manage to catch the laundry by the time they reached airport, as we had to board the plane back to Penang, the staff were kind enough to utilize the courier shipment for the laundry and ship them back to Penang te same day. For that I would give 5 stars for the support and we would definitely come back for more. ps: China house brand is special to me as it was the place I had first date with my wife and the place I proposed to her as well. Bravo!
unique place , nice environment”
open outdoor shower place and bathtub that are suitable for couple and small family , cat are all around , comfortable bed , OK breakfast (no option for your breakfast) , quite a memorable stay , just the price is little bit high
very satisfied with the stay”
overall we were really happy staying there. Especially the staffs hospitality was excellent, helpful and friendly. The environment was really relaxing and calmed with lots of nature and cats. I would love to stay again.
Just loved it”
I was completely charmed by his place. It manages to be tranquil and friendly and is absolutely beautiful.
Don't miss this place! If you are not staying here at least visit the shelter or have dinner here.”
This place is amazing. We booked for 2 nights but ended up in staying7 nights. We really liked the atmosphere here. The people who worked here are really really nice! The intern from KL working at Bon Ton was on of the nicest guy we met in Malaysia. Stay here if you like animals and historical buildings!
Beautiful setting and fantastic food. Great period accommodation and equally good food and customer service.
Boutique Kampung (Village) Experience - 100% Recommended ”
Perfect place to stay if you want a different experience from standard hotels or resorts. Instead of a room, you get a nice traditional Malay house fitted with modern amenities. Lots of cats on site but they don't bother you unless you want them to. Excellent restaurant albeit a bit expensive compared to other local options. Excellent service. 100% recommended.
Bon Ton is a wonderful and unique place. The antique kampung houses are beautifully restored and furnished to give a true feeling of Malay history. The property is also an active cat and dog rescue facility, and the cats roam freely throughout. This may be a concern for some, but anyone who loves animals and /or history can't go wrong by staying here. The staff are all exceptional - friendly, engaging and truly into the whole project. It's great to see the singular vision of the very involved owner so fully executed.
Wonderful resort if you are comfortable around cats”
Great set up with antique Malay houses. Not suitable for everyone though, as not perfect in the sense of a modern resort. But lots and lots of character and ambience. We did love that aspect. As much as we applaud the animal welfare, there are too many cats, and cat droppings, not very hygienic. Staff is incredibly accommodating and the restaurant is VERY good. However, as the location of the resort is far from ideal, it would be great if a hotel shuttle would be offered to get guests to Chenang beach.
Totally unique experience”
We lived 3 days in BonTon's Cahaya villa and as early bookers paid a standard price for it. The resort is something you cannot experience maybe anywhere else. If you are searching for a typical 4-5-star holiday resort, don't go. But if you are curious and ready for a totally unique experience in a very discreetly modernized 100-year-old "living museum", GO! The staff is lovely and the saved cats around so cute. The resort's Nam restaurant is also super good.
I want to go back there again !!”
It was our first night in Langkawi, and it was so good when we arrived there, stayed in the wood house with cool design, and a small but nice swimming pool, even if they are not close to the beach but still nice and I would like to stay there again !!
An unforgettable stay!! I want more!”
Truly memorable. I have read about how fantastic Bon Ton is, but man. Hubby and I was totally blown away by the experience. Firstly, the owner (Amir) personally checked us in and set us up at our Blue Ginger Villa (and let me tell you, they meant it. Blue as in the loveliest wood-painted blue on the outside with combinations of rainbow colors inside which will make your eyes blast and heart laughs). The villa was awesome, very pretty, clean and totally romantic haha! Baths were out in the open :) Then best of all, Amir and his staff threw a surprise birthday song and cake for my husband at dinner. I didn't have to sweat out any arrangement, signed in time wrote down our particulars and they must have caught it then. Asked if we wanted dinner at the resort (like who wouldn't in such a lovely place!), and wha-la, a magical evening! Then the cats and dogs, very warm companions to the guests! All the villas were set up so that the pool and restaurant need not take me a min to walk to. Do check out the House on Stilts, they keep their wines there. Amenities wise, they provide you mosquito mats in the villa (2 actually!) and mosquito repellent to spray on yourself if you want to. Also mosquito netting for the bed, but to me the netting made the villa all the more romantic and so pretty to sleep in! There is a TV and DVD player, you can rent DVD at the front desk or from neighboring Temple Tree resort (same owner), and a whole load of pillows and rugs enough to take a floor tumble with the resident cats and dogs! Will want to be back for a longer stay there next time!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Yellow Orchid Villa. Comfortable bed, nice interior and layout. Has a private balcony and enjoyed relaxing outside. Very windy and we were lucky weather was good during our stay. Only drawback is the aircond wasnt cooling enough.
it was a nice and interesting stay”
this was my first stay in an original old malay house and an interesting experience! its perfect for honeymooners, location is quite (ok, sometimes a plane is starting/landing but not loud at all!). the staff is attentive, good in english and very friendly. only cons: pool needs refurbishment and more care (not very inviting), very weak internet in my malay house (blue ginger), but was good at pool and restaurant area. will come back there when i'm in langkawi again!
Truly comfortable. No rush, relaxed. Quiet and peaceful. Friendly staff who were very accommodating. The place does attract insects and as we were afraid of anything that flies, we told the staff and they took extra measures to keep them away especially in our villa. The place is also a cat sanctuary so expect to see them around. The villa was different, it's a refurbished wooden kampung house - and not the usual concrete hotel.
