Borella hotels & places to stay

We really enjoy our stay in Rockwell. It's a nice hotel located in Borella area, which is not too far away from the Fort railway station (about rs400 by tuktuk), and you can walk to Odel and The House of Fashion in about 15mins. The outside of Rockwell is more like a private house than a actual hotel. Interior decoration shows the owners really have taste. Our room was not big, but felt so good.  Comfy bed, large LCD TV, and a balcony, although you can only see the street from the second floor balcony. The owner and staffs are very friendly. Breakfast is served in the ground floor dinning area, and there is a small yard, very in style. Here you can imagine you're on vacation in anywhere of the world. Overall still a good hotel, convenient location, quiet environments, friendly staffs, and most importantly, really t style.

The hotel is at a very reasonable location. it is abt 4 KMs from colombo fort but is very near to borella bus stop. even a tuk tuk can take to colombo fort in less than 200 sri lankan ruppee. another train station i.e., Maradana (which is better option than fort railway station as it comes earlier than fort station so the passenger has more chances to get seat) is at abt 2 KMs frm this hotel. Wifi is just OK as other hotels of SL. the per night fare is very low keeping in view d location of hotel. other hotels are of very high cost in this area. the persons working for room service are very nyc also the owner is very nice person. he arranged budget taxi for us for final departure in very less price. overall a good option for people who dont want to spend more money on rooms

This is a small boutique hotel with about 5-6 rooms. It has two stories in what looks like a house in an alley with other houses. The whole house is open so only the rooms are air conditioned. We had asked for a room with two beds but this room is downstairs , has musty smell and air conditioner that did not work, so they switched us upstairs to a room with one king bed. The upstairs is much nicer with a sitting area in front of the room but we did not spend any time there because it was non air-conditioned. The room size is small but equipped with refrigerator and coffe/tea making, with a little balcony but the bathroom is big and clean with a proper shower stall. The staff/guard downstairs is very nice.

The experience was fantastic even before arrival, Chamal e-mailed us twice to ensure that we have Airpot pick up. We were greeted by Samanthi and their son Dasun like family and of course a fantastic Lime Juice! The room was very clean & tasteful we had total privacy as their was an attached washroom. We were treated by Chamal and Samanthi as family and felt very much at home, my 13 year Old was spoiled by Samanthi like he was her own son. I have family close by and they kept dropping in to see us and were accommodated very well. I can write a book about Samanthi's cooking which was fantastic! The Breakfast everyday was different her presentation was great. I miss our chats over breakfast and would go back any time. Fantastic place to stay.

Ellens Place at start was a let down when one saw that the picture on net does not match the building before you. But best part is that was the only disappointment. The place is neat clean and small- but the rooms are large and so are the smile- not only the only they wear but one that they put on your face. Let me say- it is a different hotel- puts you at ease. Ok. They do not have Hard Drink license or a BAR. They can serve you beer. They don't have a restaurant but a neat 12 seater dinning place - what else would you ask when the hotel has just 7 rooms. Do check if you are renting the room in the 7 room property or the Villa- the charges and the experience is totally different.

I cannot fault this hotel. Everything about it was sublime. The rooms are gorgeous, the staff attend to your every need. Even preparing a wonderful and very early breakfast on the morning we left Sri Lanka. If you want to enter and leave Sri Lanka in a happy and relaxed style then book this place. It was one of the best properties we stayed in in our 11 days in Sri Lanka

We stayed at Foozoo twice and found it convenient - easy tuk tuk ride to the centre, quiet and safe location, very clean and the owners were extremely helpful in organising PickMe (Colombo Uber) taxi service to Nuwara Eliya and the airport. We were given fresh coconut juice on arrival which was a great welcome and the owners were very friendly and interesting. They also looked after some luggage. We could make ourselves free tea and coffee and use the washing machine. There's a rooftop terrace too. Hard to beat for this price near central Colombo.
