Great relaxing budget place ”
We initially booked 2 nights and finally stayed 2 weeks at Borneo Gaya Lodge. Higly recommended lovely budget lodge. Clean room and lounge/Kitchen. very nice and helpful employees. Very central in the city which is really good for tourists.
Situated in the middle of the city”
the borneo gaya lodge is situated in the heart of kota kinabalu city. they have very friendly and honest staffs. we left our camera last march and just got them last weekend but they still gave it back. when you go down borneo gaya lodge, there are a lot of malay food nearby. these is also the street where they have sunday market and it is very nice to see different stuffs.
The hostel has everything you'd expect and more for the price and one star rating. The location is good, the staff are very helpful, the room and common room were both clean, quiet and easily found in the centre of KK's central city area. The free tea, coffee and biscuits were great. The free breakfast wasn't - but that's the only downside to the hostel
Budget & strategic location”
the location was really strategic. It is Jalan Gaya where Sunday market was just downstairs. i booked a family room with two queen bed. Unexpected, the room was quite big, which we can put one extra bed. overall its ok. But they just give us one key, not really suitable for us as we have 5ppl.
Great location with nice room”
overall, i am satisfy with the environment there. the room is okay and comfortable. but, the staff in the lodge is quite silent, they did not communicate much with the guest.
Feels like hotel lodge”
Being in this lodge wont make you feel total strangers because the staffs are very friendly and very clean lodge.
Great location, value for money”
Located on the gaya sunday market street. Hence, difficult to find a parking on sunday. Near to famous restaurant and shopping mall. I stayed in a family room (2 double bed) with attached bathroom. The room was ok with body shampoo and towels provided. Hair dryer is not provided but can borrow from the reception counter. The room is located on the second floor (without lift). It would be difficult if you are carrying heavy luggage or travelling with the elders. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is provided on 7am-9am. It will be great if there's dustbin inside the bathroom. Found two cockroaches inside the bathroom.
Great location with nice environment”
I like my day at Gaya Lodge for 1 night and i enjoyed my day at there with my friends eventhough we stay for 1 day
Nice location but with some old building smell”
there is no lift for this lodge & building is a little bit old.drinking water have to get from the 1st floor of the receptionist counter.morning breakfast is just the bread toast by yourself. downstairs of the lodge is the famous "yau kee ba kut teh" & already try about it, but i just feel so so on it.the place is near to many banks & shops.very convenient to all the attractions.the day i stay over there, just a walking distance will reach the jesselton point for the boat travel for snorkelling at the tunku abdul rahman park.
arrived almost midnite, and was greeted friendly by the staff. yeap..they were good. i booked a private room, and it was good enough for a backpacker's place. for a private room, you can get a better deal at other place around gaya street.
Best location for pasar gaya”
for budget hotel dont expect to much.. but the location is the best because, it located on gaya street no need to find parking or you can go pasar anytime
I kind of liked it!”
This is a budget hotel/hostel. The common areas and rooms (I stayed in 2 different doubles) are clean. The staff are pleasant. I think the location is pretty good, and yet it seems tucked away also. The large doubles are worth the rate, the small doubles (rooms towards the back) sort of fell short for me - they are very small and without any amenities. Overall, it proved to be adequate budget lodging; I understand there are several other places with major flaws in the area.
Quiet but overpriced”
This place was nice enough, small but in a great location.Surprisingly quiet too, given the busy location. 24 hour staff on premises was a good feature. The rooms were pretty sparse, not as clean as I would have liked, but nice enough. The showers weren't amazing, not the cleanest or well ventilated, but fine for a hostel type place. The toilets were very small. But overall, an ok place to stay. Really good location, and there are Sunday markets on just downstairs. Close to many restaurants. But a bit on the expensive side for what it was (we stayed in several other hostels that were cheaper but nicer than this).
spend 3 days in double room. room was standard as its price. fine. but facilities were bit old. (such as the towel and bed cover..) wasn't dirty actually, but was worn down, so dirt of the time was remained. in contrast with they noticed in web, it was hard to connect wi-fi in the room. and the shower pump machine in the room was so noisy when using. the weird smell was came through the drain hole in the bathroom.. anyways lobby was cozy and nice to take a rest using wi-fi. breakfast was fine. and the location is great.
Changed from 3 people to 2 people ”
Good, I previously posted a review about the site. Look for my name again in the past reviews. Overall a lovely chilled out hostel, everything we needed.
Budget but perfect location”
Would love to have had a window but my four-night stay was fine. Room was ample And, let's face it, you only sleep there. Great location and close to malls, restaurants and pier for island hopping. Very nice, helpful staff and no real noise. It's budget and you get what you pay for but I'll definitely stay here again ... Hopefully with a window.
Good location, ”
The water heater is spoiled on half way. My room did not has window. There's a blackout for 2 about 2 minutes and worry to go outside the room. However, the service is good and the room is clean. The bedsheet is too thin and not comfortable. The location is perfectly nice as it connected with sunday market and some famous restaurants.
Affordable & Acceptable Lodge”
Well place and recommended to stay in. Booked a Double Bedroom, utilities and bed are fine. Good location as its a short distance to all attractions as its located in the city central. A lot of good food below.
It was pleasant for a short stay. But as we were staying on a Saturday night, it tend to be quite noisy as you can hear hawkers preparing for the Gaya Steet Sunday market the whole night.
Great accomodation with great service.”
I love the accommodation of this budget hotel and I would like to commend the great service they offer. When you're looking for a great value accommodation, come to this hotel.
