Vincent is very good guide and we saw lots of wildlife. Too bad they allow smoking in the central deck area... we didn't go to the jungle to experience second hand smoke. Food was not fancy but good and plentiful. Bedding is clean though a tad weathered and stained. I'd definitely recommend it if seeing lots of wildlife is the priority. This is jungle luxury, but if you expect a 5 star resort, you may be disappointed.
Joanne was fantastic”
Our stay at the Borneo Nature Lodge was highlighted by are exceptional guide that was with us both Days. She picked us up at the airport and was with us the entire time as we explored the river and she pointed out a ton of wildlife. She went out of her way to help us out with every detail and every adventure and every question and every request we had. The Borneo Nature Lodge is an exceptional place and a perfect location to explore the native Flora and Fauna of this ecosystem and they are lucky to have Joanne as one of their guides. Shec was hilarious, fun and great at spotting wildlife. Somehow she could spot them better than I could even with my binoculars. She must have bionic vision or something. This is an eco-friendly resort and they even have an elephant crossing right in the middle of it so that they can move through if they need to. The rooms are about as comfortable as you will get the middle of the rainforest (very nice) and we were happy to come back to air conditioning after being out in the hot El Nino weather and the food and coffee we're all so awesome at every meal. Thank you!!! :-) :-) :-) to all the staff and for letting me use your hot spot phone connection! Larry Losness
our stay was really perfect, staff were very helpfu”
our stay was really lovely. we met lovely people on their honeymoon, and had a really interesting stay learning about how palm oil plantations are ruining the area for the wildlife, who rely on the native forests to feed, breed and exist.
very overpriced with not so good management”
we were quite happy to look at the lodge. it should be the best among the other lodges in the same area. however, we were very disappointed about the price we paid and also package we had. which we could have done a bit more at our stay there with more activity or so the bathroom is very basic which is ok. however, we found a leech in the toilet bowl and that freaked me out. we also found the room full of insects and a big one even crawling on me. i think they could make a better way to balance out the insects and the wildlife out there such as setting up a mosquito net or something that keeps the mosquitoes out. air conditioner electricity supply stopped at night and luckily that it wasn't too hot
Great staff and excellent foood”
Excellent. The tours were led by highly knowledgeable guides and we saw plenty of wildlife. The food in the lodge was excellent and it was all very peaceful.
Welcome to the jungle!”
We had a fantastic time in the wilde. Wildlife spotting by boat was amazing. Nice food and very attentive staff. Room price rather expensive.
very good hotel adventure in borneo jungle”
Great jungle experience and comfortable facility”
It was more than I expected, good and clean room, tiny but everything just more than average, we are really satisfied with the people and facility there. Of course, it is a little bit cosy than the homestay style but worth paying more. About the river cruise, the afternoon cruise it really nice, it was not a plenty of wildlife, still we saw hornbills, long-noise monkeys, some other monkeys, some birds, not really much, but typical. Also, we pay for the night cruise additionally, however, we just see some birds like kingfisher for a two hours cruise, the wildlife guide tried really hard to find but nothing more than the birds, then we are not paying for the morning cruise, but the resident joined the morning cruise said, they saw something different to the afternoon cruise, like some frog, and birds, the guide also try hard to find elephants, but just find some droppings of the elephants. hehehe...
Comfortable lodge, fantastic experience”
BNL is located in the rainforest. The package include 2 nights accommodation, 3 meals a day, 3 boat trips into the rain forests with guide and transportation to and from Sandakan city. The lodge is new and clean. The food is ample and decent. The guide is very knowledgable and all the staff are genuinly friendly. We saw many different types of monkeys, hornbills, kingfishers, put vipers etc.. The Bornean rainforest is mystic and fascinating. It's an experience of life time. The area is not very touristy (yet), maybe due to lack of direct flight to overseas. The palm oil plantations are eating into the rain forests.- although the government has set up a wildlife sactury. We haven't been so relaxed, yet excited for long time. Would highly recommend this trip and this lodge to anyone loves nature.
Great wldlife location on river”
A really memorable experience. The river trip was particularly good. Our guide, Jamie, was very knowledgeable and helpful in co-ordinating the transfer to our next wildlife lodge. The food was OK but restaurant supervision was below par. Couldn't have done it without Agoda's special website rates offer.
Great location & wildlife expeience on the River”
Memorable 'wildlife' experience mainly centred on boat trip down river. Our guide Jamie helped overcome lack of Resort organisation. The restaurant supervisor needs customer-handling skills training.
We stayed for the 3D2N package and enjoyed it very much! The river cruises were excellent, especially when we saw the wild elephants! It was however a bit of a let-down that the guide asked for extra money for fuel, because the place where the elephants were spotted was further then they usually go. For the money we paid for our stay I think this should be included... However, staff were all very friendly, the resort looked very nice, and the rooms are clean and well maintained. Food however is not that great.. But the conversations of the waiter Along (or Alung?) made eating a pleasant experience
Calme, nature, animaux”
