Stunning location. Best beach for swimming in Cape Town. Warm water and lots of penguins. Lodge is in need of repairs and upgrades. Restaurant closes early and no TVs in rooms. Staff is awesome.
Good location although booking was messed up . Beach policy discriminatory. Parking an issue.”
Staff service excellent parking easy a real issue especially when entertaining guests at the restaurant. Turned away at beach for penguins because of it being too full then later some people were allowed through. International visitors favoured cause their rates are higher. I'D required now who carries ID to a beach? Restaurant has limited menu more affordable options are required.
Well worth value fir money ”
best spot I stayed in South Africa. quiet, peaceful and safe. Great Penguins and close to Cape point for bicycle riding. beautiful sunrise. loved it.
Yes and no”
GREAT location for penguin viewing., reasonable price for lodging but restaurant was a bit pricey for the quality. Bottom line: accommodations and restaurant we’re OK but not great.
Comfortable with a home away from home feeling ”
Warm and cozy, really good food at restaurant and Nicole was sooo nice. Perfect little spot right near penguins for a little get away from reality
Am pleased with the service!”
They don't have TV in rooms...otherwise am happy!
Best location in the Simon's Town/Boulders Beach Area”
Our room was great! (Once we finally were put in the right room). We really enjoyed our brief stay here. However, if you plan to be arriving late, make sure you make arrangements. We arrived in the evening and the office was closed and no instructions were left. The security guard was friendly and helpful but also was not left with instructions and so the three of us were put in a small room with two twin beds for the evening. When we checked in the next morning the staff moved us to the larger, nicer room with two bedrooms and a kitchen that we had booked (or possibly even an upgrade, I am unsure). The location is great. If you are there to see the penguins you will not be disappointed. Some of them even nest in the parking lot. You can walk easily to the beach and the protected nesting grounds. Town is also not far. The food at the restaurant was great and our room came with breakfast which we ordered directly from the menu. I would stay here again.
Boarders Beach Lodge location is perfect, quiet and elegant to smart business people. But not satisfactory to people without own transport. Try to find transport to pick up your customers to and from Airport inclusive in your costs.
Good for one night to see the penguins”
Close to see the penguins. They offer a nice breakfast, but it doesn't have air conditioner or fan - the room didn't smell good -, no safe, no frigobar, etc.
good accomodation, friendly staff
The accommodation and the restaurant is very close to the penguin area and quiet at night. You can chose breakfast menu but I recommend you to have Bold Boulders Breakfast fist. In total it is good place to stay but I found a used towel in the cabinet dresser.
Pretty room with a great location”
Pretty room, kettle and tea making facilities. The locationwas great, on the coast near the penguin colony. No secure parking and the street parking near the hotel was full all day. The alarm in the hotel went off 11.30pm, 3,00am and 3.30 am and went off for some time before security arrived. Someone ran past our room at 3.00am and it made us nervous for our car parked in the road. The staff at reception in the morning were not apologetic, which was disappointing. When pressed for an explanation said the wind was causing the issue repeatedly.
Showing its age, but still nice with a killer location”
If you're looking to hang with the penguins at Boulders Beach, this is where you want to stay. The hotel itself is a bit threadbare and spartan: no tv, no phones, but it has a very nice restaurant with an excellent deck, and the location cannot be better. We found the staff friendly and very helpful. Also, the hotel has onsite parking, is about a 15-minute dramatic drive from the entrance Cape Point park and is an easy walk to Simon's Town proper. Win, win, win.
friendly staff, good food and clean room - would highly recommend - we had our own private penguin too !
Amazing Propert In Every Way!!”
African penguins are everywhere near and even on the property!! The views of the ocean ( False Bay) are unparalleled and the staff are exceptional.
Great location to see penguins!”
Old fashion hotel, right by the Penguin
Not what we expected at all”
Our car was the only vehicle in the entire parking lot. We didn't see 1 security guard on the premises. It felt remote and unsafe. Our room was nothing what we expected. Not modern at all. I think the lodgr is more suited for large groups that want to book out most of the rooms and only need it to shower and sleep, who don't mind old fashioned bedding, flooring and basic facilities. We stayed in the room for 2 minutes and left immediately. I think they shoudl put more photos on their website so people know exactly what they purchasing.
Good little hotel well placed”
One line booking indicated 1 room left. This was a lie because we were the only occupants. Hotel is ramshackle, badly in need of a paint and general maintanence . First breakfast , no orange juice , coffee machine broken and no mushrooms. Lack of security both in rooms and car parking. No TV , no phone in room ,no toilet spray.A bad experience.
