Home away from home!”
We've been travelling the world for around 3 years now and stayed in alot of hostels. This one was a big surprise and by far the best we've stayed in during our time in Australia. Warm and cosy, a chilled playlist playing on the TV in our room, bed lamps on, diffuser plugged in. It was perfect! We feel like a traveller may be the owner as it was all just right and what a backpacker needs every now and then!! Comfy beds and pillows too and friendly staff at check in :)

Nice and clean hostel, provide breakfast, you can borrow bike from the hostel and free gym. It also has a bar, but will be quite after 12. Highly recommended here for all the traveler.

It’s good location to go anywhere such as Woolworth, Central shopping center and Gilligans club. It’s a bit far from Lagoon but not much. Room condition is good. There is private light and power point at all single bed. Air conditioner work well. You can buy any drink at the bar and breakfast menu is also good. It’s best budget hostel in Cairns city.

I bought lot of cheap and nice fruits from the markets. they have huge and nice fan in the lounge. it's gives you natural wind, enjoy your relax time! The hostel is okay, super friendly staff but the photos and actual hostel are very different. It's been run down and doesn't look like any recent renovations were made. The bathroom was not at the best cleanliness standards but the room was good. Comfy beds and pillows, clean. Just the bathroom bothers me. The hostel is actually much smaller than it looks in photos. Massive deck and kitchen. It's okay for a night or two but don't expect much.

Great hostel if your young and want to party and meet other young travellers. Rooms are clean, nice size with plug socket and light next to bed and bathrooms are also clean. The only issue is the kitchen, appliances could be updated, cleanliness could be better and there were small flies within the kitchen.

Good for young backpackers who wants to party at the bar. The bunk beds are squeeky and the bathroom dirty. Nice staff and good overall vibe but not great for quality sleeping.

everything that you can expect from a hostel really. Full of youngster with no manner and drunks. They partied all night until 2 AM. Surprised there arent noise control or something. Location is perfect in the middle of downtown Cairns. Close to everything. But I will stay at other places next time.

So disappointed of this hostel... First of all, the price we paid on internet is not the good one and we had to pay more when we check in at the reception.. Secondly we paid for a room of 10 people with a bathroom and toilet but when we came, the shower wasn’t working, so we had to go to the commun bathroom but the water was cold.. Also the staff was very unpleasant! They were partying in their room with drugs/alcohol and music so we think that it was relax to drink some wine in the room but they came to us at like 11 pm when we were just smoking a cigarette on our balcony to say to shut up and they confiscated all our alcohol. In the morning (around 10-11 am) the housekeepers came to clean the room with music and they just wake up us whitout any respect. So please avoid this hostel, they just take advantage of the backpackers to make money on them!

We understand your need to voice your opinion, however, you were ejected from our property for not following house rules, aggressive behaviour and breaking social distancing regulations. As we explained, the price is shown in USD, not AUD. We offered to change your room as you were unhappy with the facilities and you did not want to do so as you were hungover. Our house policy is that we don't allow alcohol, you were informed of this at check-in and there is signage on every room door. Staff are held to the same standard as guests in which any alcohol found is confiscated and we work off warnings until ejection. Drugs on site is an immediate firing/ejection. We had a report from other other guests about noise from your room, when we entered you were drinking so this was confiscated and a warning given. The next night you were partying and were rude/aggressive to staff stopping this so you were ejected. We hope you find somewhere to stay more suited to your requirements.

2 main things: The facilities are pretty dirty such as the kitchen and fridge area And if you want to sleep before midnight it is very noisy as there is literally a bar right in the middle of the whole hostel

Hi Thai, We apologise that the hostel was not what you expected. All our dorm rooms have an 18-35 age limit as we are typically aimed towards young travellers. As we are based in the centre of cairns close to all the bars this creates a more social atmosphere with lots of our guests partying at these venues and returning late. Our bar is currently only open 5pm-11pm or midnight at the latest with the music playing from here during these hours. After midnight there is no music from the venue and a night manager is working until 5am to prevent noise as much as possible from returning guests. They are available via the hostel phone if there are specific issues. The communal kitchen is cleaned multiple times throughout the day by our team and deep cleaned twice weekly including the fridge. We are busy at this time with lots of guests who are also expected to clean up after themselves in this communal space which does not always happen as needed. We wish you the best for all your travels!
Great hostel, definitely the best in Cairns”
I booked this hostel based on the good reviews and I totally agree with them. In fact, basically the whole of Cairns seem to agree, because luckily I booked in advance but a lot of people were disappointed to find out it was fully booked, and not just around the eclipse. So the good points about the hostel: clean and big rooms with ensuite bathroom, the atmosphere was great as there is a mix of people travelling alone, couples and families, younger and older backpackers etc. The deck is great to hang out and socialize and they have movie nights and bbq nights there etc. The location is good, about 10 mins walk to the Esplanade and supermarkets and restaurants around the corner. The kitchen is large and clean and has plenty of cooking space and the free breakfast is a nice bonus. The staff was overall very friendly and helpful. A negative point for some people may be that the dorms come in 6 beds only, but I liked it and the nights were quiet. Although the apartments offer other types of accomodation, but don't know anything about them. All in all, a great hostel. Even though it may be a bit more expensive than other hostels in Cairns, it is definitely worth its price!

Best hostel for groups & long termers!”
The rooms are quite nice, large, and clean equipped with a closet, lockers, kitchen, balcony, and own bathroom! It’s on the same street as Gilligan’s and is only a 6-8 minute walk to the esplanade and lagoon! Honestly, it is next to everything you need in Cairns city! It’s def not a party hostel, but it’s great if you are already traveling with a group then just head over to gilligan’s. For long termers, it provides a very clean and quiet place to stay. However, i don’t think many ppl know about it so there isn’t as many long termers here. Note that WiFi doesn’t work well with phones but better with computers. They give you a password that expires in 7 days, but you can always request a new password from reception. Def recommend this hostel!

Comfortable, well-priced and centrally located ”
This backpackers is located in an excellent position with regard to accessing the main sights of Cairns. It is convenient and close to the main attractions and amenities. The room in which I stayed was clean and spacious. Noise pollution was kept to a minimum thanks to the maintenance of strict rules regarding silence after 11pm. The staff were friendly and amenable if help was requested. My stay at the Northern Guesthouse was enjoyable. The location alone makes this place great value for money. Everything worthwhile visiting is only a short walk from the front door.
