It's perfectly adequate ”
It's a bed. That's what I paid for, that I expected, and that's what I got. They even provided hangers, a toothbrush and soap. The towels and sheets were clean and it was 2 minutes to one subway, and five minutes to another. IT WAS FINE.
Value for money and good location. Upon check out, the hotel could not store my baggage even for an hour. This implies limited baggage storage space. Also, the receptionist explained it "proudly", rather than being and saying sorry. That was a minus. Otherwise, it's a good hotel I can recommend to friends.
If you have standards, don't stay here”
For the cheapest hotel in the city we didn't expect much but honestly if you can afford the extra few dollars to upgrade, DO IT. I don't have the highest standards when I stay somewhere, it's just a bed, but this was bad. The staff at the counter were nice, but they are incredibly loud til the late hours and early morning. The bedroom wasn't big enough to open 2 suitcases in at a time. The bedding was stained brown, the blanket was covered in hair and had holes in it,and the curtain was falling off the window. Oh and there's some nice mouldy stains in the bathrooms haha Enjoy your stay!
Sub-par.. this place is like a chicken coop... toilet stinks and dirty... I think they clean only once a day... room is extremely small and uncomfortable.. air-cond is centralized.. location is good.. but there are others... look elsehwere
The rooms are about 6 feet by 5 feet”
This has to be the worst place I have ever stayed in NY City. There is a net for the ceilings that lets light and noise from other rooms in. You are not renting a room but a closet and a small closet at that. The beds are ultra small and not comfortable. They are smaller than a twin size.
Tiny but clean”
Rather happy such an option exists. I really only need a private bed Shared toilet facilities were decent but smokey. Bed bugs existed in my room (saw and ended one), so you might wanna avoid this if that irks you / don't want to bring some back home.
Adequate but a little Noisy”
It was quite sufficient for my needs. Very clean, 4 bathrooms on the floor so one was always available. The staff mostly spoke Good English and took care of whatever I asked them for. The only unfortunate things were the WI-FI kept dropping off and the ceiling was damaged so I had to deal with all the TALKING, LAUGHING, SNORING, & everything else that I constantly heard from all the rooms around me.
Convenient Location with Lowest Price”
Great location as it's easy access, however with such low price at NYC, the actual size room was even lower from our expectation. We were actually placed at a room beside the laundry place where you could smell the detergent. And for a double room, the whole room was occupied by the queen size bed,you can hardly walk or put your luggage. Plus they only change their bed sheet once every week.
cheap but thats all”
its a cheap room yes, but a prison cell is cheaper luckily my height was exactly in the length of the room so at leat i fitted in. the shared bathrooms are in horrible condition and they are not maintained enough. the room had no windows but it did have an old fan. shortly its not a place for people above 1,84 m and certainly not for claustrophoibic
Accidently booked wrong dates, a day later than intended, staff was unhelpful in helping us change our dates and we ultimately decided to cancel our reservation which we had made only an hour beforehand at around 1am. Motel offered no refund as if they had hordes of people fighting for their one star hotel which was not well kept or clean from what we'd seen.
We barely have any space to open up our luggage! It was so small! The walls are so thin, we can hear conversations of other guests next door. The common toilets are not always clean and the blankets are dirty.
Recommend place was nice. ”
I was travelling with my wife and we booked for one night. Hotel was over booked we moved out by hotel management next their sister hotel. We really didn't see much nicer things to display about this hotel but the hotel they recommended us was much nicer then their hotel. If you are lucky enough you may get the same chance as me.
Quick Trip to NYC”
Luckily we were only there for one night, but I guess we got what we paid for. We were in a windowless room roughly the size of a closet with a hole in the ceiling that was covered with a towel and barely enough room to turn around in. The bathrooms were shared, but clean. The TVs are from the 90s at the most recent, and get really poor reception of only one channel in Chinese. This was all fine, as we just wanted a cheap place to stay, and the Bowery Grand is actually in a really great location. The real problem was the walls are paper thin which resulted in a really terrible night's sleep. At 1 AM a tenant and the desk attendant got into a loud argument where they were threatening to sue each other. Worse, at 3 AM someone in another room's alarm went off and they didn't turn it off for hours, meaning we couldn't sleep for hours. People walking around was really loud too. I would still go back for a cheap, terrible place to stay in a great location, but I'd bring earplugs next time.
I felt I was misled and re-directed to a partner”
When we arrived we were told that "due to a water leak" we were advised to go to another hotel that was situated two blocks away. The other location was dirty and the room itself was completely 100% unsatisfactory!!! I was so upset that it took me this long to even respond to this request for feedback. I was charged for the room even though I refused to stay. Customer Service was non-existent and I have informed everyone I know about the horrible experience I had with The Bowery Grand Hotel. They are a fraud and untrustworthy.
Meets basic needs”
This is a no thrill hotel. It has all the minimum basics, a bed just big enough for one person plus a couple of feet to move around the room. It is in an old building with long stairway. No elevator. Rooms are clean, but no linen change in over two weeks. Shared bathroom. Sewer drains in the bathroom are left opened. It would be better if they could have the plumber cap them. This appears to be one of the cheapest hotel on the net. It is affordable and is near to everything a tourist needs. Wifi is available inside the room. I wish they could put in a printer in the common area. That would meet the needs of business travelers.
At least it's something.”
If you are taller than 1.8m (or about 6ft) expect to sleep curled up into a ball! A hotelroom that looks more like a prison cell is always fun to sleep in! But on a serious note: the double rooms were 1.8m by 1.8m, very small! But this is what I expected it to be when we arrived there. The staff was friendly, but the problem was that the walls of our room were very thin. So expect to learn a Chinese word or two during the night. Other than that, no big problems, other than a few of those pesky bed bugs. Also, toilets weren't the neatest in the world. Whatever, there's probably not too many places in Manhattan that are cheaper than this, so if you don't mind discomfort: go for it - you'll survive.
A dirty bed in NYC”
Literally a small bed when you open the door. It smells funny. Dirty sheets. No space for bigger luggages. Shared bathroom. Good location though, near to several metro stations. A good sense of humour and survival instinct is required to pass the night unscathed. When they say no frills, they mean it.
Poor living condition.”
There was no housekeepinf service the two weeks I stayed at this hotel. Street construction was none stop. There were two bathrooms shared by all the tenants. Most of the rooms are very small and has no window. The hotel is on the second floor, there is no elevator. The janitor did not even picked up my trash.Location is very good. It is in the heart of China- town and Litle Italiy. Food is inexpensive because restaurants, markets and grocery stores are everywhere. Buses and subway stations are within 10 blocks distance. Fare is $2.50.
Last resort desperate grasp at not street-sleeping”
I was very disappointed with this hotel. For more than 50$ a night, all you got was a short bed in what i can only describe as a closet/large wardrobe. If all you need is a bed (coz that's all you get - and not even much room to put your bag down next to it) then go for it. but other than a last resort, for this price, i wouldn't recommend it.
ıt was a nightmare”
It was horrible. Please do not go there, if you are in tight budget and must stay somewhere like this, take your time and save more money or delay your trip. No human being deserve to stay a place like Bowery Grand Hotel unless you wanna feel like "rat". Dirty, ugly, full of bugs and nasty peaople.
