Find hotels near Perfume River in Hue, Vietnam

We flew to Hue having spent a few nights in Hanoi and Halong Bay. We were met by the hotel driver, in a Mercedes (very nice!). It's about a half-hour ride into Hue itself. The Huong Giang is very well located, right on the Perfume River, within easy walking distance of everything we needed. We had paid a little bit extra for a room with river view; having spent a few nights in a boutique, Old Quarter hotel in Hanoi and a couple of nights in Halong, we wanted somewhere that had a bar to relax in overlooking the river, and the Huong Giang does exactly that. It was dark when we arrived, and we were shown to room. When we opened the curtains, we could not see the River. It's entirely possible that one can see it, in daylight, as it rounds a bend in the distance, but it really wasn't what we'd been hoping for. We went straight to reception and gently aired our disappointment. Within a few minutes (and a Festival beer watching the river), we were re-allocated to room. This turned out to be a suite, bang-smack on the river! The hotel is of medium size and clearly caters to vast numbers of short-stay visitors from all over the world, so we were probably just fortunate. However, the change was accomplished quickly and courteously, and the chap who moved our cases had even picked up my reading-glasses which had been left in the original room. Our room was very clean, comfy bed, perfectly nice. There were one or two small things: the robes could do with being replaced, and I had to ring down for the hairdryer, but these are tiny, minor things. Breakfast is served in a large, attractive restaurant and offers plenty of choice at various stations. We needed to arrange a car transfer to Hoi An, and again this was accomplished very easily and to our specification rather than than to a hotel timetable. Overall, we were very happy with our choice, particularly given the upgrade.

We love this Hotel,this is our second visit.The room we were first given was on third floor looking over Restaurant,I asked if we could have one on side with a better view.No problem happily changed us to a room on the side on the 4th floor with a wonderful view. Breakfast downstairs in the restaurant is amazing over looking the river. Hotel is showing its age a liitle however is amazing value for money.Pool is really good over looking busy river.(Nice big towels provided) Lots of great and so cheap restaurants near by hotel,DMZ bar restaurant even has good wine at reasonable prices. We went on an all day tour with Lunch which cost about $14US, about two thirds in on the trip we got a phone call saying how sorry they were as they had over charged us for trip should have been $10.When we got back to Hotel they were falling over each other saying how sorry they were ,we thought $14 was so cheap. The Hotel is getting a little dated,however large room, comfortable bed, Flat screen TV plus a an amazing view across Perfume River,one of the best breakfast views ever. We are looking forward to staying here again.

we stayed 3 nights in the gerbera, hue and had a very pleasant experience. the staff were very professional, helpful and kind. there's always a smile on everyone's face - and they're always willing to lend a hand whether it's offering ideas for children's activities or suggesting a restaurant to try. we enjoyed a wonderful new year's gala dinner at the hotel with other guests. the hotel location was perfect - right by the river and central area - lots of nice shops around. we took a day tour of the nguyen emperors tombs which ended with a boat cruise along the perfume river docking just a few minutes walk from the hotel. though the weather in hue was very cold at new year, the staff at the gerbera hotel provided the warmth.

I knew Saigon Morin Hotel from an earlier stay in 2004 and booked it because I did want to return to this historic hotel. Once again, I enjoyed the breakfast in the inner court yard with its peaceful atmosphere. This large colonial style hotel is beautifully located on a street running parallel to the Perfume River. It is at walking distance to the Imperial City, the Huê Antiquities Museum and also to the Dong Ba Market. Having lived in Vietnam for many years, I was surprised to see that the city authorities have kept the shores of Perfume River green, which allows one to stroll along the river and enjoy nature and fresh air.

I booked a bed in a dorm room and there was no one staying in the whole room. Only stayed for a night. The bed and the room are clean and large. But the bathroom is quite old and small. However it is acceptable for the price. The location is great as it is on the main street of Hue where you can go on one walk and discover a lot along the Perfume review. The boutique is situated in the Foreigner area so it is very easy to find good place for eating, drinking and coffee shop nearby.

had a wonderful stay here. the hotel is a short tuk tuk ride or a 15 minute walk along the river into hue. it's a beautiful place with a feeling of laid back luxury and decadence - a trip back into colonial times with wonderfully attentive staff, a beautiful room on to the terrace with views on to the perfume river. staff are wonderful and helped us arrange airport transfers and daily excursions. i got trapped water in my ear while staying and struggled to sleep. i went to the spa to ask for some almond oil to help dislodge it. though a little lost in translation, one they got it they found a small dropper bottle from a facial product, emptied and cleaned it and topped it up with oil for me, which was more than i expected and got me a much better nights sleep til i could make the pharmacy the next day. loved our time here and would return again and again if i could.

The Tran Ly is a straight-forward, basic hotel which is well kept by a lovely team of staff who are genuinely there to make sure your stay is the best it can be (without being intrusive or overbearing). Rooms are basic but clean (if you are expecting 5* luxury amenities, fixtures and fittings then don't) and more than sufficient for a few days stay. Breakfast is also good - the pancakes come highly recommended! Located just across from the river and within easy walking distance of the Citadel and some great restaurants / bars. True value for money at just over $15 per night.

Pro: none Con: noisy, dirty, old I checked in with prepaid booked bill by agoda. The manager was puzzled and reluctant to accept, saying he had never worked with agoda. He accept after calling agoda support, anyway. The room had no slipper, no pyjama, no intercom, no guide for wifi, no airconditioning remote, many switches not working. The toilet would not drain even after informing the manager. Never again.
