Great location, I stay here for business whilst in Preston. Rooms are adequate, breakfast is good, pool is nice. Not ideal if you need to be close to Melbourne CBD, but there are restaurants around the Preston area. Good comfortable budget hotel with lovely staff.

Sleep & Go, Bell Street”

The view from the room on the top floor was unreal. Room clean & well presented, great pool & BBQ area plus the added bonus of a gym & social area was great.
That there was no BBQ equipment available for use as well as the BBQ's....who is going to travel with that stuff ready to go???

The Sleep & Go really provided luxury accommodation at a budget price. From the second you walk into the building you are met by the staff at the front desk who are extremely friendly & helpful whilst maintaining a very professional manor. Upon entering the room itself it is easy to see by looking around that you are in for a treat; the room is presented excellently with great modem décor that is complimented by the fantastic view that stretches to Melbourne city & beyond. Back downstairs in the bar/activities area there is something for everyone; the bar/restaurant itself provides generously priced food and drinks plus specials that include cheap pizza's & Bulmbers that suit a sunny afternoon lazing by the pool. With BBQ's, a basketball court & comfortable deck chairs by the pool a chilled out relaxing day is made easy. All of this at a reasonable price with easy access to public transport Sleep & Go is an awesome & comfortable place to holiday.

Review on Sleep & Go Suite rooms- Bell City.”

The Suite had a Spa- great after lots of walking. The windows are full floor to ceiling with great views. Helpful staff. Free shuttle bus to the city.
The room really needed a microwave.

I enjoyed my stay at the Sleep & GO but as the name says it is sleep and go there is a small bar fridge which is stocked with milk for coffee & tea which gets re-stocked everyday and only a kettle no microwave of toaster, so you do need to eat or buy out all the time, you can get take away from the JD's bar and grill in the hotel to take back to your room. The suite room i stayed in had a Spa bath. and has full floor to ceiling windows with great views. The room was a good size. Pretty clean and the housekeeping came everyday to clean and replace towels, make the bed and general tidying- which was great. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Everything is in the hotel that you need. Including a coffee shop -the pantry to buy some grocery items and a newsagent. Transport was very simple too- to get to the city you only need to walk across the road to the corner tram stop catch tram 86 and it takes you right into the city central area past the best shopping areas like Smith street and Bourke street mall ,down to the Southern cross station where you can also catch the Sky bus to the airport, A taxi from the airport to Bell city There is also a free shuttle bus provided by the hotel which runs s few times a day to the RMIT and Melbourne Uni, which are both in the central city shopping area too- Supermarkets like Safeway are within walking distance to the hotel. Also to finish on -booking through Agoda is very simple and very safe.

Great value”

Great price in peak season Very clean
Out of town but still in Zone 1 and public transport very good.

Helpful staff allowed us to checkin at 11am because the room had been cleaned. Taxi from airport was $39 but cheaper alternative was a $5.80 2 zone public transport day pass. Get bus to Broadmeadows or Essonden then train to city then train to Bell. Takes a lot more time but saves money. For single travellers the East bus from Airport was about $25 and drops you at hotel. The Airport bus [$16] takes you near Southern Cross Station then get train to Bell. We were at Tennis Open and used a $29 weekly metro Zone 1 pass which does unlimited trains, Trams and buses. Although a 10 min walk to Bell Station, trip to Jolimont or Flinders was only 20 mins. Tram was only 2 min walk from hotel but takes 30-35 mins to town. Supermarket was only 2 tram stops away or can walk. We stored milk, refreshments, fruit etc in our little fridge if you want to save food expenses. Would recommend to others.

I am happy to stay there and would recommend other travellers to give it a try on your Melbourne trip. Valued hotel for the price. Great price on Agoda and much cheaper than directly through the hotel. Bus/tram stop is right outside, and that tram takes me directly to the city(20mins). There is a Post office (i bought my Metcard there) & pharmacy outside, very convenient.

Cheap and cheerful in the Melbourne suburbs”

Bell City is a complex with several bars and a decent range of eating options, free parking and a wide range of accommodation options.
The room could have been quieter, but you can't blame the property for its guest.

The sleep and go on Bell Street Preston is situated in a low to mid range property located to Melbourne's north, towards the airport. It provides more facilities than the price would suggest, and a level of customer service that impresses. The eating and drinking options suit several budgets and the customer service culture shows the hotel chain parentage.

some where else better”

I was stayed in Bell City Breakfree for 2 nights. The staffs are nice and friendly, but the facilities are really old, the location is not that good, there is nothing around for you to enjoy. The manager need to find a solution about the key card, i was not advised that not put the key card near by the mobile otherwise the keycard would deactivate, so during my first day stayed there, i had to run to the reception 4 times to reactivate the keycard. Also the smell soon you walk in the upstair floor. The room is really small and old, the bathroom really tiny. The room has the kettle but the power in under the study table, there is no power point near you bed, no hair dryer. The parking is really expensive $16 per day as it is located in suburb. Really this hotel is good only if you need a bed to sleep, or you are working nearby Preston or it neighbour.

Clean comfortable and excellent service”

Great views, easy onsite parking, 20mins for airport and city avoiding tolls

We stayed in the King Balcony room which is probably the nicest room we have had in Melbourne. Being on the sixth floor the views were amazing with floor to ceiling glass windows. The balcony is a must. The room was well appointed, quiet and very comfortable. The menu for room service and cafe was very reasonable and quite comprehensive. Toiletries supplied and wonder of wonders they even included a shower cap, which is rare these days. It is a good twenty minutes to the airport avoiding tolls but may be ten minutes as advertised using the toll road. All in all we were both very happy - great value for money and would stay there again.

Fantastic hotel”

Fantastic rooms and great pool area

We booked a king balcony room but unfortunately due to a problem with air conditioning we were downgraded to a king room without a balcony but we were offered breakfast every day as compensation. Our room was fantastic, it was on the 6th floor on the corner with floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides. The view was amazing especially watching the sunrise every morning whilst still laying in bed! The food in the pool bar/restaurant was great and good value. The only downside to this hotel is that it takes around 35 minutes by bus to the city centre, however the hotel does provide a complimentary bus service to and from the city around 5 times a day. There is also a tram and train stop close by if the bus times are unsuitable. We would definitely stay here again.

Chill out @ Sleep and Go Hotel, Melbourne ”

Clean, great pool and bar, friendly staff.
A bit out of town. No free internet.

I had a great stay at the Sleep and Go Hotel in Melbourne. The staff were very friendly and always did their best to help and they had good knowledge of Melbourne and the surrounding area. The pool area was clean and the security maintained their strict policy of no glass around the pool. The bar had a games room and there were several outside smoking areas. I tried a few of the dishes from the menu during my stay and the food was great, it wasn't gourmet, but it was reasonably priced and plentiful so what more do you need! The only negative points were the hotels location (it took about 1hr by tram to get to Flinders St. Station were all the bars and clubs are) and there was no free internet any where in the hotel (there was a business centre, but even then you had to pay per hour.) But they were the only 2 small bad points I found. Overall my stay there was very relaxing and comfortable and I will be using the Sleep and Go Hotel again in the future.

Cheap and good location”

Cheap, Good Location, Basic

If you're looking for a cheap and simple place to crash for a few days, Bell City is perfect. Close to tram and trains and not too far from the shops, cafes and markets of Preston. Rooms are very densely packed - tv, microwave, fridge, and shower curtain separating a tiny bathroom/toilet - with shared cooking facilities on each floor. The staff are friendly, but they might not be investing in infrastructure or upkeep as much as they should. My stay was plagued with technical problems (key card keeps failing, flushing system failed). More than once I had to go down to replace my key, and at one point had to change my room. Though if I had to stay somewhere for a few days in this area, I probably would stay there again.

Feel like a celebrity on the cheap”

If you need to feel stylish in Melbourne, without the big price tag this is the place.Resort ambiance, pool, palm trees, breakfast in or outdoors, it's got the lot. Staff very kind, yes sir this, madam that. All the trimmings. The room is a cupboard, but you expect that. A cupboard that has all the things you need: a loo hidden in the shower, TV, kettle, place to hang your clothes. Transport is goo, 2 trams and a train to get you to the city in 25 minutes. Your wallet will thank you.

Went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and important as their guests. Room was fine but a tad cramped. Coat hangers (only one( hanging too high. Non reachable. Lacked some paint work and repair work on the doors in our room and also there were some holes in the carpet. Bathroom brilliant and extremely spacious. Linen tops and white! Great! Attention to detail when one first enters the Foyer would be advisable. Grubby outside appearance. When coming out of the lifts there was always untidy linen, crockery on view either on the floor or in cupboards open on level foyers. Trouble with the lift constantly. It is such a busy place but to keep its level high and reputation above average, recommend more care to the cleanliness in places. I want to be able to feel confident to return and also to recommend the Motel to others.
