Very surprised by this hidden gem! ”
Blink and you’ll miss Breakfree on George, however this is a very impressive hotel nestled in the busy streets of Sydney’s central area. We stayed for two nights and were surprised with large rooms, apartment type facilities (e.g. kitchen and laundry) and really enjoyed the close proximity to all of Sydney. The benefit of being so close to Chinatown means there is no end to the tasty, fast and cheap eats around! We walked between the hotel and Darling Harbour, Oxford and Pitt street, although public transport is nearby it is certainly optional.

Lovely and basic hotel in a fantastic location”
This hotel was no frills but it had everything we needed. We didn't come to swim in a pool or receive room service, so if you are looking for that look elsewhere. Our 1 bedroom family suite housed 2 Adults and 3 Tweens, with an additional bed provided. I loved that the hotel also ensured we had 5 cups, glasses and towels to accomodate extra person. Conveniently located on George St, opposite Campbell St and also backing onto Sussex St, we loved exploring the city. China Town for brekky was just outside the Sussex St door. Within very short distances additional to China Town there is also Paddys Market, Powerhouse Museum, Capitol Theatre, Entertsinment Centre, Darling Harbour and lots of choices for eating and other conveniences, like a $12 haircut. If you are happy to walk, you will be able to walk everywhere, there is an incline into the city. Otherwise there are buses, taxis, light rail close by for local area down there, you can walk to Central station easily as well as Museum and Town Hall stations (if you want a train to Circular Quay). The hotel and our rooms were clean and housekeeping provided. Our room had 2 bathrooms which was a great bonus for a family of 5. There were 3 lifts so not waiting for long. We were given a very early check in, which we appreciated and paid $20 for a late check out, which was awesome too. Another plus for us was that with our room facing inwards, yes it meant view of building but it also meant next to no street noise for a sound sleep on the comfy beds. All in all, I would recommend this for families who want to explore Sydney. Being on the outskirts of the inner city meant that we saw more than we planned. My family loves eating do bring so close to China Town and everything it offers was a definite plus for us.

Spacious rooms and great location”
this was our second stay at breakfree on george and we definitely wouldn't look to go anywhere else in sydney. the rooms are extremely spacious and well appointed and are completely self-contained. the location, right next to chinatown and close to either central or town hall stations is ideal and there are buses right outside the door that go to circular quay. just across the road you can catch the tram to inner suburbs such as glebe which has a great choice of restaurants.

Awesome Stay”
Our stay was pleasant. We arrived early and decided to drop our luggage first so we can go around the city. Once we go back into our room they already put our luggage inside the room. Great service. We booked 2-bedroom apartment and Queen room. The rooms were clean and quite spacey. They even have a balcony. Luckily we stay in high floor and we served with Beautiful view of the city from the apartment. The apartment filled with kitchen set, refrigerator, washing machine and dryer, sofa and dining table. It’s really convenient since we stayed for 5 nights and had to wash our clothes. One of the best things is Location! It’s located right in the center of the city, George Street to be exact. They have everything around the area such as Starbucks coffee, pharmacies, World Square mall, Capitol Theater, Bars and pubs, food stalls, Town hall, Queen Victoria building, Darling Harbour, Westfield mall, etc. If you are Asian, this hotel is a plus cause it’s right besides Chinatown and Paddy’s Market. You can get great and affordable souvenirs to bring back home. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Location is great. Clean rooms and great view. Everything is wonderful. I would recommend for traveller who first time come to Sydney.

Close proximity to several tourist attractions”
Walking distance from Sydney Central from where many local tours start, half an hour to Sydney International airport, the hotel is conveniently located near to China Town(short walk from Sussex Street entrance) and Market City, and a little bit further to Darling Harbour. The 555 bus to Circular Quay is to be relocated from October. But supermarkets and City shopping area is a further walk away. There is no lack of food choices nearby. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant. The reception counter was well and efficiently manned by helpful staff. No problem in getting to the airport through their help. We had 2 open plan family rooms for 4 persons. The one facing Sussex Street had a bigger living area with a sofa bed for an extra person, if required. A kitchenette in the living area, but no pots or pans for cooking. They do have a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge plus crockery, etc. I wonder why toothbrush and toothpaste were not provided. Daily housekeeping. The place is a bit aged, but still comfortable and adequate. On the whole, since we got the sale price, it was value for money.

I am loving it! Great hotel! China town just right down stairs, clean and confort, big balcony and there is a small ketchin for who wants to cooks a litte. Great place to stay! Next time in Sydney I'll still choose "Breakfree on George Hotel". Make early reservation can get the most bargain price!! The only thing is the room I stay in which, the TV is old and when changing channel it make a big noise

Strategic location ”
The hotel is located in the Sydney Chinatown and very close to various shops and restaurant. The room is spacious, clean and beautiful! However, the hotel itself doesn't have carpark at the same building which slightly causing inconvenience when you got a lot of luggages.

The best of the best in Chinatown”
I stayed in their sister hotel, BreakFree on Clarence before I moved here which was in the centre of Chinatown. I searched for a great daily rate and when I found it, I booked immediately and stayed for 4 days. If you have the opportunity to search on-line for a low room rate, you will find it. Keep searching. For the price I paid it was one of the very best hotels I’ve stayed in. Everything you could want, you will receive here. I stayed in a Studio Queen room which was spacious and very well appointed. All staff members were great. Thank you for my great stay.

Excellent hotel with great rooms”
breakfree on george is an excellent hotel at a great location. we practically saw the city attractions by walking, like the opera house, the rocks, the harbor bridge, the sydney tower, botanical gardens, the aquarium, etc. all these places were 15 to 20 minutes walking distance from the hotel. the rooms were very nice, modern looking including a balcony. as the rooms are non smoking, it is great to have a balcony for smokers. the lobby is not very impressive, but everything else is top notch.

A most enjoyable 2 night stay”
We stayed 2 nights, Thurs and Fri night. Check in was easy with super friendly reception. We had booked a queen room. On entering the room which looked fine, we realised that the bed would not be big enough for us(it didn't look like a queen). A quick phone call ensued and straight away the very nice deputy manager moved us to another room with a king bed, getting a free upgrade! I couldn't thank them enough. The room was large, clean and had a great view. The location in Chinatown is amazing, close to everything. The price was also very reasonable at $125 a night. The only negative, which is very minor , was the smell of what I describe as Asian 2 minute noodles in the lobby.

Ideal apartment for Asian family.”
My family of 4 were on a short vacation to Sydney and have put up Breakfree on George street apartment. This is a wonderful location and all amenities are available within short walking distance. Along the streets they are ample restaurant of all types (japanese, korean, thai, western, chinese) and Starbuck is just across the road. Also Chinatown, paddy market, capitol theatre, apple store, sydney tower and darling harbour are nearby. Will definately a favoured apartment for me. Sam Malaysia.

Great location and comfort”
Although it is the first hotel I have ever stayed at where no staff take your bags to your room, the lifts were easily accessible making it easy. Check in and check out was fast, however, you do need to have photo ID of the person who made the booking. There is no mini bar snacks at hand and although there were cooking facilities, utensils were lacking. With Chinatown so close, you do not need to cook. A short walk will take you down to the Chinese Gardens in Darling Harbour. East access for public transport. Loved this hotel and will be back.

"Great location but small rooms"”
Close to PaddyMarket, Japanese Resto, Bakery, bus stop (such as bus to go to circular quay) - train station (near Sydney Central station) - Malls and etc. So it is easy to find something to eat, to shopping, to take a bus or train to other place.

Quite spacious”
Hotels in Sydney CBD area are too pricey. This could be the best deal we could get. We stayed in a studio apartment topped up with additional bed so that 4 adults and the 2 kids could have more space. It has a small kitchen top and a small dining area, which is nice when we bring food back. Balcony has no view. It's next to Chinatown and a turn to Market City (buy your souvenirs here!). Starbucks & 7-11 right opposite the street. Two pharmacy nearby. Love the light rail which is 2 minutes walk away. Getting to Central station, Fish Market and Darling Habour is easy (via Light Rail) if you prefer not to walk that much. The room has 2 bathrooms, clean. We arrived at 1pm and our room was not ready. Left the bags and luggages with the hotel staff and when we returned, we just need to collect the keys and our bags are in our rooms already. The hotel provided some mini cards in their foyer. We used the one which got us 10% discount at Taronga Zoo.

hotel was fabulous... would stay again!”
I really enjoyed my break at "BreakFree of George". Close to Capitol Theatre, which I wanted as I had tickets for a show. Nearby to the Markets and also Darling Harbour... a great place to wander around. The room/apartment was extremely comfortable and very pleasant to spend some down time in. The staff were fabulous... very friendly and prompt. They even helped me out on a couple of matters (not to do with the hotel!) I will definitely stay again... am looking forward to my next holiday in Sydney... at BreakFree on George!

Great Location & Hotel”
The hotel is very central to everything - shops, restaurants. It is very comfortable & clean. The staff was very helpful & polite. The only minor issue was the pillows were too soft for me & the toilet seat was loose - needs tightening up the screws. Overall I enjoyed the stay there & definitely can recommend to anyone who wants a hotel close to all things in Sydney CBD. The room I stayed was spacious.

Superb location and spacious room”
It is located centrally in Chinatown, out at George street is the bus station and Paddy's market, light rail are only few steps away. The studio has a dining and living areas, though small but bigger than a standard hotel room for the similar room charges.
