Better than expected!”
Our stay was just about ideal. We were welcomed warmly at the front desk, our reservation was correct, and we were offered flutes of delicious hard cider. It just got better from there. The location is beautiful and quiet, and though we could hear people walking or using their jetted tubs, in other rooms, no conversations or TV sounds came through. When we got to our room, we found a few lights on, a small, artistic flower arrangement, and soft music playing. It was another unique and warm welcome. "Garden View" just means that you are on the ground floor, with some hedges and other plants between you and the water. All rooms face the harbor and have lovely views of the water. There were essential oil soaps which were pleasant enough even if not our favorite scent, and the room entirely lacked that "hotel room" odor which is so common. When we came home, our clothes still smelled normal instead of having the hotel travel smell. We tried the jetted tub, which was really more of a bubble tub, but we enjoyed it. We also liked the gas fireplace. We loved that the room had an elegant, creative design and was of moderate size. The inn is beautiful and artistic, with sort of an updated mid-century modern feel. Lots of wood and glass and art. We did not use the pool area or spa, but both looked inviting. The pub was pleasant, and offered the most delicious, unique vegan "burgers" we have had. Good veggie sushi and martinis, too! We enjoyed high-quality live music one afternoon. The restaurant looked fantastic but did not offer meals for our diet. All of this luxury and sophistication was accomplished without coming off "snooty." The atmosphere was professional but relaxed. SO nice! The only downside for us was the half-hour drive to Victoria for other dining. But this was more than made up for by the quiet, beautiful setting and the convenient access to Butchart Gardens just a few minutes away. We can’t wait to stay here again!

We stayed for 2 nights in April. The pool and hot tub were lovely and the room was spacious and very clean. Beautiful location with views of the ocean even from our ground floor room.
Comical restaurant experience”
The hotel and room are lovely, but the restaurant had a few issues. Went to the bar and the restaurant. Service at the bar was slow, but to be expected because it was Mar 17. Service at the restaurant was glacial. We were finally served breakfast after close to an hour of waiting - and this was after watching the hotel management eat their meal at the coffee bar. Food was great and our server was lovely, however.
