      Above average”

You know what, we saw the many different reviews for this spot and decided to try it for ourselves. The staff were ok, nothing outstanding. The room was the same. Everything was pretty much average. If you need somewhere to rest the head for one or two nights on a budget, go fot it. It did the job!

      Good for emergency only ”

The room was clean & spacious. Key wouldnt swipe but Staff were excellent & helpful . Wi fi was crap ... poor reception at 8th floor. No Parking of hotel so had to park in high gate parking which cost extra & was a rip off. Was charged £12 for one night when the hotel stamped my ticket . Only one lift was operational so long wait to commute between ground floor & 8th floor. Book if you really need to be in the town centre & have parking options.

An old run down hotel in an excellent location, where no taxi can come.”

Good location in city centre walking distance from two train Station. It is an old run down hotel, with bath room fittings damaged or worn down. No free Wi-fi, need to pay for wi-fi in room or come down to lobby. Some staff too curt or casual but one fellow was friendly. Cramped lobby. It is ok for business travellers who has business around the area. Taxi can not come to hotel need to carry your luggage to some distance.

      It's worth the money”

I stayed here because it's so convenient for New Street Station and although I know Britannia Hotels normally receive bad reviews, I took a gamble. To be honest, it was a bargain, the location is excellent, staff were lovely and the room was smallish but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was included and excellent and although I would have avoided this chain in the past, I will definitely stay with the again. I can't remember exactly how much I paid for the room, but it wasn't much for the excellent service and facilities that I received. Give it a go and you will be pleasantly surprised.

      Bad experience ”

Hotel need renovation as it’s not well kept and not clean. My room was black out many times during my stay as there is electrical fault and have to report this many times to reception. Lift is awful as only one operational and you have to wait longer time.

Location of the hotel is most valuable factor! Bit disappointed on the quality of the rooms which can be improved slightly & not having free WiFi in rooms is a big negative. Overall the hotel is value for money considering the price I paid!

      Dump”

Dirty, filthy hotel that is awkward to get to because it is in the middle of a no vehicle zone in Birmingham city centre. Car parks are a good 5/6 mins away although there is a discount for staying at the hotel. The staff were inefficient and lazy. Because of a queue, the checking in process took 15 minutes due to only 1 receptionist being bothered to attend to customers. I counted at least 3 other members of staff doing nothing. The room were dated and dirty. Altogether a bad experience and the worse hotel I have ever stayed at booked through Agoda!

Fantastic location and good value for money”

Can't really complain for the price. Followed a mouse on the fourth / third floor stairs, who didn't seem too sure where to go, started going downstairs then decided against it, and headed back for the fourth floor. Would have taken a picture but he didn't stay still for long enough. Wi-Fi range isn't brilliant, but works fine in bar and reception area.

Okay, not the worst place I stayed. ”

I was comfortable in my room. Only problem was the noise level next door and the bathroom suite could do with refurbishment (toilet handle came off when tried to flush it.). No bin in the room which was awkward. Could not turn heater on. Only perk was smoking rooms.

No free WIFI in the room??!”

Strong Points 1. Location; next to station, easy to go out for travel points. 2. Price; this hotel was the cheapest hotel near station. Week Points 1. No free WIFI in room. Free WIFI is allowed only in lobby, restaurant and bar. You have to pay additional pay for free WIFI in room. 2. In my case, TV remote controller didn't work. They changed my remote controller but it didn't worked either. I could not use remote controller until my check out. 3. They doesn't clean my room day by day. I think they clean your room and change towels in every 2 days while you stay. 4. They had 2 elevators but only 1 was available. 5. The building seems to be very old. There was a big scratch on the wall in my bathroom. Conclusion. If I visit Birmingham again, I would like to try another hotel. But for the first time travelers, location is remarkable value. And it takes only 5 minutes from station to this hotel. So if you are not familiar with Birmingham, you could try this hotel.

      Basic, ok for one night”

I would recommend a friend if they were only staying one night and they were looking for a basic stay. The room needed a major update, the window was mouldy and looked like it would fall out of the wall, one of the walls was covered in a something from a previous guest that had been sprayed all over the ceiling too which hadn’t been cleaned off! The bathroom was very old and we were glad that we didn’t need to use the shower for our one night stay as it wasn’t the best. During our stay we had the fire alarm go off at 4am which was not the hotels fault but did not help the whole experience. The only good bits about the stay was the fact the beds were clean and even though they creaked when you moved it wasn’t the worst nights sleep. The room also provided a kettle and tea which was good and the tv worked, I heard another guest complain that theirs did not work at all. The location was the best part which was straight onto the high street which was great for our shopping trip.

Room spacious location good main problem the air conditioning no window room stuffy and airless ”

As above main problem was the hot stuffy airless room and no natural light meant you had to use artificial light even in the day there was a fan but didn't help much wouldn't have thought you would experience this in the middle of winter it was a shame because the room was spacious and well furnished location good as well and fairly quiet for a Saturday night in the city centre

      Awful Staff except Two Persons”

Awful Smell all over the hotel. Despite the fact that most of the hotel was empty we were given the most awful, dirty room # 0612 of the hotel by the most absent minded receptionist namely Abdulla. Later it was changed by the Trainee from Portugal and his boss ( name unknown) but the only two professionals who know how to look after guests. The room 303 was a suite with two bathrooms but it seems under repairs/refurbhishing. the entire shower fittings fell on me and mostly everything was just loosely hanging. Very dangerous situation. Wish I had time to make all those complains and photographs. Anyways it was a mistake to book this hotel. Never again and no recommendation at all.

Really well located so makes getting around gown easily. Unfortunately the room I got was nothing like the photos in the description. Main photo is also out of date and is from before the Main Street was pedestrianised. Nice staff though. You only sleep in the room.

      Good”

Location of this hotel is superd. Due to its excellent location and we have to bear with the street noise which can be disturbances to someone of they are sensitive to noise while sleeping. Hotel deco seems to be old and same style applies on the room deco as well but was reasonably clean and the room size is of reasonable good sizes. Disappointment is that it does not come with free 24hrs WiFi in the room. The free WiFi applies only at lobby and public area but room entitled free surfing for only first 20mins, thereafter u need to purchase £7 for 24hrs surfing.

Typical Britannia hotel. Do not pay over the odds as it is not worth it. I paid £40 for 1 night, I wouldnt have been happy if I had paid more. Location is good but that's about it. Oh, and watch out for the windows, really old and can hear everything outside
