Great Hotel in the heart of it”
Hotel Buaraya is a great hotel, the lobby is outstanding and very very clean. It's a good choice for Chiang Mai although we found ourselves going to the old city every night and this hotel is located outside of the walls. Not a major issue though If you want a large hotel, clean rooms and all mod cons with great wifi, you can't go wrong with Buaraya
Nice clean, spatial, budget room for city explore”
We enjoyed our stay at Buaraya Hotel. Parking space is ample. The location is great and convenient to walk around the downtown Chiang Mai. There are plenty of restaurants and food stall in front of hotel, including several convenient stores. This is not the hotel you will spend all day chilling out. It's just a cheap and clean hotel so you can conveniently explore the city center. Breakfast is quite poor and nothing to talk about but you can find many alternatives in front of hotel.
Great Location & Reasonable Price”
A very low price hotel with breakfast. The location is well as well. We can walk to the Old Town, major temples and night markets within 15 minutes. Room is big and comfortable. Breakfast provides a variety of Thai, Western and Chinese food. Car parking is also provided. Convenience stores and roadside restaurants are also located outside the hotel. It is great to have a such hotel in the city center of Chiang Mai.
my stay at the Buaraya Hotel was lovely. I walked there from the van station and found it really easily. 7/11 was just up the street and as I walked I passed many food stalls and restaurants setting up for the evening so local food was really easy to get hold of. I checked in quickly and easily and was given the keys to a lovely and very spacious room. Everything was clean and neatly laid out. I have no complaints about the room or the bathroom at all. I had a full sized bath with over head shower and everything was fresh and well maintained. My twin bed room was comfortable and everything I was promised in a room was successfully delivered. Breakfast was the usual buffet of food but I was particularly impressed with their honey pancakes which were delicious. I'd happily stay here again.
It was my 6th visit in Chiang Mai and this time I was very happy to stay at Buaraya Hotel for 6 nights. Excellent location, large and cool room, satisfactory breakfast and very kind staff. I hope to stay there next time.
Room was clean and bed was comfortable though view is disappointing. There are ATMs and convenient stores (7-eleven and Tesco Express) practically next door. It is also near one of the "gates" of old Chiang Mai which is ideal for the casual holiday photo-taking. There are also public buses (songthaews) lined up near the hotel every morning which you can take to Doi Suthep (and other places of course). At night, you can also find street food. If you are a Muslim, the hotel is near a mosque and two local eating places which are open during the day. The hotel though quite new, is well-known. If you need to return to your hotel from anywhere in the city, just tell any taxi driver or bus operator the name of your hotel or the road it is located at and they'll know where it is.
Excellent family value hotel”
We are traveling alot in Asia in 2012 and 2013 so need good hotel bargains as we are paying for a family. Buaraya meets this need perfectly. The place was spotless, and the staff was lovely. We got good tips on where to shop for furniture. It is a basic hotel, so no luxuries. easy to get transport outside, and easy to access the Old City through a nearby gate. Only complaint was the rooster who started to fuss very early in the morning, but that is likely an issue anywhere in the town. I saw complaints about the breakfast on another comment but we liked it. it is Asian, not Western, so just a question of setting expectation. There is a large fridge in the room, as well as a kettle, so if you want your own special cereal with milk, or oatmeal, easy to bring along.
Excellent! Great hotel! ”
this is a great hotel. staff is very accomodating. very very clean rooms, with perfect lanna style yet modern. great location for short or long term stays. the staff are so kind and helpful. the local businesses around the hotel are friendly, accomodating. when i come back to chiang mai, i will stay at buaryara again. the local buses to get to all the sights are parked early outside each day. highly recommend!!!! love the hotel. love the staff. love the location.
Convenient lodging near walled city”
Not many of the staff were friendly but not well versed in English and I have no Thai skills which created some challenges. Wi-fi was unreliable and there was not public internet access. It was close to the Sunday Street Walk and tuk tuks were easily available at the hotel. The real challenge I had was obtaining information on how to depart Chiang Mai - no information on bus schedules were available at the hotel or at nearby "travel agents". I ended up booking a flight back to Bangkok was the train was not available due to weather conditions that had damaged the tracks.
Value for money accommodation with great location”
Stay in Buaraya Hotel was very good. Room was spacious, beds were comfortable and bathroom was clean. Had difficulty conversing in english with some of the hotel staff but they were very helpful in booking us a tour to Dao Suthep temple and getting us a taxi for a trip to Mae Jo area. Location of the hotel is very convenient as it is on the perimeter of central area/walled city and is walking distance to where most of the restaurants and shops are. There is a 7-Eleven and another convenience store a few meters from the hotel and at night there is a makeshift food market where you can try some street food.
Tasteful, but a few signs of age”
The hotel (especially the lobby) is pleasant with ample northern Thai decor. Spacious and welcoming. The guest room (superior double) has older solid wood furniture, and a mattress that passes, but isn't outstanding. The bathroom is clean, a bit cramped. Nice bathtub. Good view (sixth floor) of the mountain. Parking is convenient. Did not eat the breakfast, but it appears to be the basic level of breakfast buffet. The street food market in front of the hotel in the evening is a lively experience with crowds of both tourist and Chiang Mai residents. Easy to get transport from the hotel to anywhere else. Staff are capable and pleasant, though not overly invested in the guests. Finally, the hotel caters to Chinese tourists, though that was not a drawback during our stay. Overall, clean, tasteful, convenient, but some worn edges aesthetically. I'd go back.
Lovely accommodations at great price!”
My stay at the Buaraya Hotel was wonderful. The room was large with comfortable bed and fairly good internet service. The check-in was quick and the bell service was very good. I thought the front desk person could have been a bit friendlier, but her English was quite good. They were very gracious in allowing me to leave my bags while I went to hospital appointment. This stay was a very nice experience at a good price.
great place to stay,”
i loved it here. the staff were friendly, happy and very helpful. I honestly could not find any problems with this hotel. the location was easy to find it was very nice atmosphere. the large lobby area was perfect for watching the rain and planning the days activities. we spend many hours talking on the balcony with Chiang Mai busy around us. There is food close by with a large variety of types of eating choice.
Good , clean ”
it is a good and big hotel, reception very friendly and good helping. The hotel is near foodshops and the old city. Rooms are good, big and clean even the beds. When we were here there were a lot chinese people and they not think of other people sleeping in hotel. A lot talking talking loudley in early morning 6 oclock. The breakfast is a buffet, you can take what you want and there is enough for eat. So this hotel is for this price good.
Authentic Thai Hotel ”
It was in a good location North of the old town. Outside the hotel there was a number of street good for sale. This is where all the Thai people eat for very cheap. Some of the food was really nice. Good looking hotel from the inside. We chose not to get our room cleaned just to make sure our valuables were safe. We enjoyed our time in Chiang Mai. The town was quieter than we expected it would be. Very cheap place in Thailand.
Nice place, helpful staffs”
Hotel is near by the city center. Hotel staffs were helpful through out our stay. Helped to rent the motor bike. They gave suggestion on where to go and lot more information on touristic places near by. Book the Chiang Rai trip from the hotel reception. Enjoyed the room service food. Food was yummy and huge. Breakfast buffet was fine not so many food items.
Good Room (Deluxe) but location far from bazzar”
Very good room, spacius and the bathroom is big enough so you can have your shower on a separate place from the wc jaja. If i come again to chiang mai i would stay near to the night bazzar where the tourism is developed, restaurants etc.
The hotel is located old city. Very easy to find "Song Tiew" at front of hotel to any where like night market,Chiang Mai Zoo etc. The price is 20THB each person. Many Thai food booth neighbouring the hotel.
enjoyable stay ”
good value for money hotel, plenty to eat at breakfast.good location for getting around in or outside the city and hills, tuk tuks outside and songtheaws pass all the time.slow internet in some areas of the hotel but managed to access enough for myself. would stay again when next in chiang mai.
