Communication was clear. Directions for how to enter building were also clear. Young man at desk was exceptionally helpful. Room was very clean. I walked for hours in the walking streets behind the hotel. I would stay here again.
Dear Joan. Thank you for your review and for choosing our hotel. I’m happy that you enjoyed your stay and I’m looking forward to having you again as a guest in our hotel. Kind Regards, Tibor
A gem in the heart of Budapest”
This is a great hotel ! Highly recommend as its got everything you need especially if your on a budget. Located opposite the national museum your close to all attractions . It's about 30 min walk from the train station. Staff are Superb , rooms clean, shower , cable and free tea and coffee !
Amazing, Great staff, a hidden treasure”
Stay at the Mecure (in the same building) for 200 plus euros a night or discover the "museum central" for a fraction of that. This is one of the hidden treasures of Budapest, It is a little hard to find (its only drawback) because it does not have a direct street entrance but this adds to its authentic local charm. It is easily reached from the airport by the metro and the station is a very short walk away and once inside it is truly a home from home. The staff are young, fluent in english and obliging.
End day to Budapest”
Very convenient place before the morning flight (several meters to the Metro or stop to the airport), but there is no electric kettle, no heating for the bathroom radiator, no air conditioner console, very audible corridor sounds, deceptive photo with balcony and noise outside the window (public transport, night bars ).
Hi Rolandas, thank you for your feedback. I was disappointed to read that you did not have a pleasant experience and can assure you I will be personally investigating the matter. Hope your stay in Budapest was otherwise enjoyable and hope to see you back some day.
Nice spacious room!”
Pros: Had a good 2 day stay here. Very good location and friendly staff. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Would stay there again. Con: Initial check in was scary and confusing as the hotel is on 2nd floor of building with huge locked gate. Very big instructions should be put on main door on how to contact the reception.
Dear David. Thank you for giving us a perfect rating and for recommending our hotel to other travellers. I’m sure our entire hotel staff enjoyed catering to your needs as much as you enjoyed your stay. Take care!
Good location with cosy rooms”
The location was perfect. It was situated central to all the major attractions such as the central hall market, and close to the bus-stop with direct airport transfer bus. The room was cosy with just enough space to put our luggages. All the required amenities were available and staff was very helpful. Only thing to take note is the entrance to the hotel can be slightly tricky when first arrived. You will reach a door where you have to press the number 10 at the entrance for the reception to unlock the door for you. You will hear a beep sound to indicate the door has been unlocked. Same thing to be done once you are inside as there is another locked gate.
Great Location and charming building”
Don't be fooled by the reasonable price. The Museum Central is conveniently located (close to the airport bus stop and other public transport) and slap bang in the middle of the city making each tourist trip easy and convenient. The building is a charming historic period with great architecture. Don't bother booking here if you are of the posing type as you need to enter the hotel using a single lift and the reception is on the second floor.. I had a great stay here and rate this hotel as a Budapest hidden boutique gem.
Lovely hotel and very helpful staff”
The hotel was brilliant - well located once you get your bearings. Staff were very helpful, kind and polite. Room was spacious, exceptionally clean as was the bathroom. TV in the room too and a complimentary bottle of wine - thank you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back. It is slightly difficult to find and you go through two sets of doors but once you know where it is, it is a little gem.
Could not have picked better”
Great location, value for money and comfortable room. Stayed in a studio which are one of 3 in a separate flat on Puskin street around the corner, but they are just a few minutes walk from the hotel building - but something to bear in mind when checking in late. Room had Jacuzzi bath and kitchen and was immaculately cleaned every day, towels always replaced. Staff were very helpful in checking in and booking the shuttle buses for the airport. Had full control of heating so room stayed warm. Would definitely stay here again if travelling to Budapest.
Nice and cozy hotel. ”
Great place and very comfortable to stay, definitely recommended. Cons: Finding hotel and getting in is challenging for first timers as it does not have that big name plates to give it visibility. It is just next to Hotel Mercure with a small sign on wall. But getting inside is challenging.
No breakfast, No TV (fault)”
1. Two subway station neer. Good! 2. Big room. Good! 3. Difficult to understand how to open the entrance. Bud;( 4. No bathtubs. Bud;( 5. No towels change everyday. Bud;( 6. TV system fault(mayby my room only). Bud;(((( But, cheeper than around area hotels.
excellent base for exploring Budapest”
We had an excellent time at this clean, central hotel which had all the amenities one would desire and excellent, friendly staff. I could not recommend this place more for the its price. Room was cleaned daily, all directions/questions constantly answered, endless supply of free tea and coffee etc, good wifi signal....etc
hotel location is great”
Hotel was great with pleasent staff. Location was easy to travel around. It was unlucky that the aircondition was down and promised of having it fixed was delayed. Fan that was given was taken away and replace with a tiny one. Windows had to be left open but the the main road was rather noisy. 2nd day the water heater was not working as well. Staff were helpful to make me feel better just unlucky that things was broken during my stay. hope they are fixed :)
Great staff and great room”
This hotel was very clean and spacious and the staff were excellent, always willing to help with organisation of activitity and providing information. It was centrally located and easy to navigate from. The only negative was the lack of air conditioning, we were originally promised a fan however this was given to a different room. Other than the hotness of the room, a great stay.
Very helpful staff”
Great hotel in good location with very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Location was good for me with a metro station within 50 yards or so and a tram stop also nearby and only 10/15 minute walk to the river. Cannot comment on breakfast as I didn't include but there is a free drinks machine for coffee, hot chocolate etc in reception. Plenty of bars and restaurants very close by serving local cuisine and European food.
A hassle to get in.”
No instructions on website or outside main door on how to call the staff to let you in when arriving for the first time. The entrance is hard to find. I was fortunate that someone was just coming out and he let me in. It will be frightening for solo female traveler if she arrives late at night, no phone connection and no idea how to call hotel staff
A little gem in the centre of Budapest”
I am happy to recommend this hotel to people like me who want a small, friendly place in the middle of town and have no need for hotel swimming pools, restaurants, etc. all of which are available in abundance elsewhere in the town.
Great location. Very clean place”
We really liked this place. Everything is really close to this place: metro station, all city bridges, amusements, and picturesque places and buildings. Staff is helpful, not annoying. Very- very clean so we felt ourselves like at home. There was a complimentary bottle of wine for us we should it mention :)
Great base for exploring the city”
We stayed in one of this hotel's studios (we've no idea how the standard rooms are) which are very large in size, has all you need - kitchenette with electric kettle, plates, cuttlery, etc. There is also a laundry machine (don't know if it works, we didn't use it). It was very clean, in good condition, and a nice wine bottle, on the house, expected us when we arrived. Wifi was available for free, the connection was very good. The location is great: about 3 minutes walk to Astoria (which offers good metro and tram stations) and from the great synagogue, 5 minutes walking to Vaci Utca, less than 10 minutes walk to the great market. We also felt very safe coming back to the studio late at night. Just notice that the studios are not located in the main building, which is exactly opposite the National museum (but they are about 5 minutes by foot, and the hotel offers to take you there in a taxi, free of charge, at least when you check in). The studios are located in 20 Puskin Utca, in a nice apartment block. The reception is open 24 hours (we arrived around 01:00, and had no problems), and the staff was very kind and assisted us with some weird requests (translating few things to Hungarian...). At whole - we had very good experience and definitely recommend this hotel to anyone we know who intend to visit Budapest.
Museum central was an ideal place to stay for a long weekend. It is in a good, safe location, the room was of an average size but because the ceiling was so high it felt very roomy. The room and ensuite were very clean and well decorated with soaps, hair dryer, full length mirror, phone, free wifi and even a complimentary bottle of wine. The windows were triple glazed so street noise was less intrusive. If you're looking for a big fancy hotel with a foyer etc then this is not for you. Museum central has a more homely feel to it but everything you would want for a short break. The staff were very friendly and even looked after our bags for us after we'd checked out. For the money, would definitely recommend this hotel. Don't be put off by the dark stairs - all part of the charm.
