Basic hotel ”
Budget Dam Hotel was alright value for money. Private room was in another building, be ready to carry your luggage up some very narrow stairs. The room was ok but very small. Has a cupboard for clothes and a bed side table and an ok bathroom. Location was amazing! I could easily walk to tons of international restaurants and sight seeing spots. There are lots to shop near hotel as well.
If you need a location near the Train Centraal and on a budeget.”
I stayed in a tiny, single room. It was fine for what I needed. I check every place I stay for Bed Bug’s but didn’t see any signs. It was freezing outside and I was concerned there was no heat, but a man at the front desk verified that every room has heat. I found the tiny heater hidden behind the curtain below the window. Once I turned it up it was fine place. The doors aren’t sound proof so you hear every slamming door and conversation that passes by. I asked for an extra pillow, which the front desk received for me, though I had to wait 15-20 minutes for them to get it. If I ever go back to Amsterdam and I’m traveling solo again I’d stay here again, mainly for the price and location. I also LOVE Amsterdam which helps.
Perfect location! Five minutes walk from central Amsterdam station
If you just need a shower and bed in a convenient location ”
The room was tiny, don't expect anything. No facility, if you just need a bed, shower and towels in a convenient location in central Amsterdam, it's ok. But don't expect anything nice and fancy.
Central, but bad smell from outside”
Its easy to see that this hotell is just a 2 stars, its an old and tired building. But the nice thing about it, is that the hotel is very close to the cebtral station in Amsterdam and what the city offers. I ordered just a singel room with toilet and shower, so I didnt need to share with others. The room was very smal, but ok for a place forj ust to sleep and take a shower. Only seriously problem was sometimes a very bad smell from outside, coming from thru the window. It was just like shit or bad food outside of the window. It told the service people about this, he said he was going to talk about the boss about the problem.
Best location with a reasonable rate”
its was great as we able to move around Amsterdam easy.
Great location. Nice staff. Good value”
You are not entering a 5 star resort. This is a little motel, small with surely some little fixing to do but, beds are nice and location is amazing. It was the cheapest room we could get in the center and we paid 75€ for a 2 single bunk beds room. We arrived early and got a room immediately (11am) lucky us. They supply towels, soap, shower gel and maps of the city. Only 4 mins walk from the main train station (centraal). We even had a perfect view on the canals. Check in : 2pm / Check out : 11am
Convenient, but uncomfortable.”
The hotel was not very comfortable. My room was too small, no writing table was provided, so that I had to sit and eat and watch TV all on the bed. The lights were too dim for reading. The shower room was a bit faulty, with leaking found on the toilet floor after every shower. The lift was out of order, so that I had to carry my heavy trunk along a squeaky, narrow staircase, which was in fact dangerous. The staircase was too narrow, even for people without baggage. The hotel is not recommended for the old and the sickly.
closely to main train station, and have everything around hotel, however if you come with heavy baggage, I have not recommend because high and narrow stairs and without escalator.
the room itself was decent, and clean . The hotel lobby and hallways are really run down but the room and location makes up for that for the price
Overall was OK, no complains.”
Pros: excellent location (just next to Inter Toys) and super near to Centraal, good staff, clean room, storage for luggages before check in time and after check out time. Con: stairs !! 🥵🤪🤪
Bill from Australia ”
While the hotel is a budget offering it is in need of some love. The staff were great and the location is fantastic. We would not visit again while it is in current state of repair and cleanliness
The hotel appears to occupy 2 separate buildings. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room itself was very tiny. Narrow staircases and elevator is available from the second story only. The hotel is very near the train station and city center.
A small bird's cave in Central Amsterdam”
Chose this place because of its location near the central station. But the single room is in next building than the dorms and the reception, narrow staircases, very small narrow room. Could fit at most 2 person at one time. Not advisable for family with kids, not a romantic getaway hotel. If you are desperate for a place in the central amsterdam then this maybe the place.
Expensive and uncomfortable ”
Hotel is in city center but not comfortable at all. Reception is in another building and rooms in other building. No lift from ground floor and narrow stairs. Difficult to climb with luggage. Rooms extremely small and tight. I booked double room but unable to sleep on bed as it’s only one person size. Location is great close to Amsterdam central station.
Central location, small room, but expected in Amster”
Very compact, but expected in Amsterdam.Close to all the good things in Amsterdam.
Cheapest place in the Centraal area. The room was small but clean and provided an adequate place to sleep on our long layover. The stairs are steep, so not really conducive to moving luggage up and down. Ok for just carrying a backpack.
As central as it gets but not noisy at all. Had single room, it's very small but you don't really need any more. Old rooms but newer bathroom. Friendly staff
The location is good. The staff was kind. The only thing i didn't like was that there's no lift but a staff guy helped us to carry our luggage.
Too expensive for an old and shabby room ”
It was very near the central railway station, so the location is very good. The staffs were very nice and helpful But the room rent was too expensive for a small and shabby room. The wall between room was too thin, so you could easily hear people talking in the other room. The fire alarm always beeping accidently. The room was too dim, that makes the room look even shabby. In addition, the pigeons were always staying and murmuring outside my window at the 1st floor ( though I understand it was not the fault of the hotel), but it was really noisy for the whole night. Overall, I just don't think it worths 6.2 points.
