Such a lovely house, and such a lovely family!”
...and such a lovely experience, staying here. The host/hostess do not speak much English, but with the aid of Google Translate we had great conversations at breakfast. Do yourself a favor, download the app now (Google Translate) and book the hanok for a truly unique and beautiful stay. 정말 고맙습니다. 우리는 다시 당신을 볼 수 있기를 바랍니다!
Thank you so much! ”
Such kind hospitality. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay smooth and well-coordinated. ขอบคุณ!
It was such a great experience staying in this hanok - the building itself is beautiful and it's surrounded by a lot of cultural and historical sights nearby. The family running this guesthouse are very warm and friendly. Each morning they prepared a delicious traditional breakfast for the guests and were happy to chat and provide recommendations of places to go nearby. The owners helped me with getting on a bus to my next location and even when there was a bit of trouble with english, they whipped out their mobile to translate what they wanted to say to me. A big bonus of staying here is getting to try hanok on for free! The family helped me pick out my hanbok and as a solo traveller I didn't have anyone else to take pictures of me, so they took some for me and they turned out really good! If you pay a little extra you can also take the hanbok out for the day. They also had a washing machine and dryer that you could use for a small fee. I would highly recommend staying here!
Great traditional stay”
It was great to show the kids a traditional Korean house. Sleeping on futons was such a different experience. We spent 3 nights here. The staff were amazing. She even drove us to the bus stop at 4.30am when she couldn’t get a taxi for us. The location was excellent. Room clean and nice shower. Would definitely recommend for a traditional stay.
A nice experience staying in hanok”
Friendly owners, we reached at 2am which is later than the timing we have informed than. But the lady owner still greeted us with a great smile especially to my children. We booked a family room with privare bathroom. Its really clean, room is comfortable even for a pregnant lady like me who is used to sleeping on a bed. The location is great with bus stop right in front of the house, convenience store is a walking distance. Its really a great experience
Owners of the hanok are friendly old couple. Not a big issue in communication as they understand simple mandarin & they are IT savvy...they also use online translator. Breakfast was simple but delicious. Very quiet environment especially at night. Overall, it was a great experience for us.
Excellent Hanok Stay”
The hosts were truly accommodating, preparing delicious breakfast for us each morning. It was just hard to communicate freely because of language barrier, the couple have a hard time communicating in english, but their son is a great help in explaining things. We really loved our stay here!
Experience traditional hanok homestay”
Excellent location near Anguk station. Take exit 2 and you can take bus number 1 to the Guesthouse. It stops right in front of the Guesthouse. Great shopping around Bukchon Hanok Village with lots of local designers' items such as handbags, accessories, clothings and others. The prices are on the higher end as it's unique (one piece per design) and designer's items. The staff speaks Mandarin well and minimal English. Enjoy the daily homemade breakfast at 830 am (Korea time).
good traditional house with very nice hosts!”
It was very good! We got to stay in a hanok house for experience. The host also cook korean breakfast for us, yummy! They speak very good english and mandarin as well! Location is nice, & we got to wear hanbok! Thumbs up!
Highly recommended for chinese-speaking, because the staff there speak Chinese very well and there was not an issue at all communicating. Minibuses were a saviour after tiring days of too much walking around. Transport was very convenient, Anguk station. Very near to Insadong as well, we dropped by almost everyday to do a little shopping. Wifi worked very well for us. We stayed in the biggest family room they had, one thing to note is that the bathroom isn't in your actual room, and halfway during our trip apparently the other guests used our bathroom as well (would've appreciated it if the guesthouse staff enforced stricter regulations regarding this). Also, the toilet was really narrow and the heating system isn't very good/consistent, hence more troublesome to wash-up during winter (especially since the 'private' toilet isn't actually in your room). Ondol & comforter was sufficiently warm enough to sleep, and even sleeping on the floor got rather comfortable after a couple days of stay. Would definitely recommend this place to others!!!
I and my friends enjoyed one night stay at there. We were warm welcome by the owners. They are very friendly and helpful. They helped us a lot in planning our trip and getting around at jongno-gu area. The place was clean, quiet and cozy. Besides that, we were served their traditional breakfast which prepared by mama.
Cultural experience. ”
The family was reallly friendly. Their niece working there could speak good chinese and english. Beakfast provided by the grandmother was halthy and delicious. She even prepared food according to yor preference. Grandfather there is so friendly, even though he cant speak good english. He will use actions to replace the words. Totally had fun there. Just that the room is a little too small.
Love my hanok stay here! ”
The location might not be the most convenient for senior citizens but my parents most definitely enjoyed their stay at this homely hanok. The friendly and endearing owners prepared delicious Korean breakfasts on both days and that's really our highlight of the trip! Love the pictures we took with the hanboks provided too!
Good cultural experience, but not the most comfy”
I enjoyed my 2-night stay. The staff can speak simple English and fairly good Mandarin, so communication wasn't a problem. Breakfast was a wonderful spread of home-cooked Korean dishes. Located uphill but in the heart of the Bukchon hanok village, quiet and central at the same time. Could be inconvenient if you have a lot of luggage, especially since the hanok itself does not have much space. Rooms are quite basic, and though I appreciated the spartan and clean environment, sleeping on a mattress wasn't the most comfortable - a small price to pay for the immensely enriching cultural experience, I think. Could be nice to take 1 or 2 nights to stay here and leave the rest of your bulky luggage somewhere else, but I wouldn't recommend it as a base from which to explore Seoul.
Interesting Korean Home Stay”
Quiet and Nice Place to stay. Family running and give a warm home atmosphere with home made breakfast served. Located in Bukchon. Thus it is nice to walk and sightseeing around. Yet, it is close to Inssadong and can reach the city by 10 minutes walk. As it needs to be quiet at night and there is no TV, it will be more suitable for adults and well behaved kids.
Warm & Comfortable stay ”
Our 3 days stay was wonderful with great homemade breakfast being served. Great place to experience hanok stay. Like the surrounding with nice landscape, good scenery and lots to explore in the Bukchon village.Even the restaurants & shops around the area are worth patronising. The host are friendly and warm. They treat us like friends and even send us to the airport bus stand. Probably the only complaints is on the small room size.
Very Friendly & Helpful Staff”
This is our first time visit Seoul. I travel with 3 others girls, the staff is really Helful. The homemade korean breaksfast by the landlady Is very yummy. Her son is the one who help us to book a minibus with a local driver to go to Nami Island, La Petite France, etc. Before we check out, they even let us to try a Hanbok (Korean Traditional Outfit) for Free. P.s. There's a lot of Guesthouse there, so make sure tell the Taxi Driver it's "Bukchonmaru" not the "Bukchon Guest House". Because, at the first time we got there, the taxi driver drop us in the wrong place. Althought we just stay 1 night in Bukchonmaru Hanok Guesthouse, we really hv a blast there.
Undisputed korean traditional origin starts here”
The stay is truly unforgettable with good memories. The first look of the house makes you get ready for the authentic korean lifestyle. It satisfied you from the bedding, decorations, to breakfast. We were luckily enough to able to join and witness the making of soy sauce and say paste. You are guaranteed by knowing how healthy the food they make out from and you would feel very much refreshing during and after the stay.
A traditional experience.”
Great hospitality provided by the owners. Home-cooked breakfast better than anywhere. Great city view from the room. But toilet is small. Try to bring small luggage if u wana stay here, as theres many humps along the way to the house. All in all, its comfy and cozy.
I think it’s difficult to feel old good Korean atmosphere if I travel ordinarily because Seoul is a big city like Tokyo. However, the guesthouse here not only has an ondol, traditional floor heater, but has been saved as it was since Choseon Period, so I could experience the real life of Korean. At night and early morning, it got very cold, but this guesthouse served us a comfortable, warm and clean room and nice Korean breakfast! On the way from a station to the guesthouse, we could see lovely scene of small korean folk houses!! It made me feel that I am just in Korea then. I want to come again! It’s true recommendation!!
