Bukit Bintang is part of Kuala Lumpur’s ‘Golden Triangle’ shopping district. It’s named after the road that runs through the heart of the district, where many of the most popular shopping centers in Kuala Lumpur are located. There is no better place for shopping in Kuala Lumpur, and many fine hotels in Bukit Bintang are within walking distance of these commercial centers.
The main shopping venue is Bintang Walk, a commercial strip with some of the best shopping malls, restaurants and hotels in the area. The walk is busy at all hours, and it has several trendy cafés and a few dance clubs that are as popular with locals and expatriates as with tourists.
The biggest establishment in Bukit Bintang is Berjaya Times Square, served by Imbi monorail station. This is one of the largest malls in the world, with luxurious boutiques and department stores, an indoor amusement park and an IMAX theater.
Other shopping centers include the recently refurbished Lot 10 Mall; KL Plaza, which is now known as Fahrenheit 88; and BB Plaza, with its affordable merchandise. To the north, the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Mall is joined by two five-star hotels. It also has a 7-storey high rollercoaster.
All of these shopping centers have onsite restaurants and food courts, but there are independent dining districts also worth exploring. Jalan Alor parallels Jalan Bukit Bintang in a section of the neighborhood that houses many hotels in Bukit Bintang. Jalan Alor also boasts hawker stalls selling inexpensive local food.
