Great location
Great location
The room was clean and nicely done up but quite small. Be prepared to do without even a small wardrobe or desk and chair. Make your own bed. But of course, you are not paying much either, especially considering the location being 15min on foot from the Kremlin! All reception staff speak good English. They are not prone to smiling but are nonetheless without a doubt helpful when approached.

Good location
location and price
There was no hot water during my stay. The lady at the counter matter-of-factly pointed to a piece of announcement saying that due to pipe renovation, there will be no hot water until the next week. I wished they had informed me ahead of time so I can cancel my reservation. Also, the bathroom is added to the original bedroom. The smell was unpleasant. I also find the regulation prohibiting guests to do their laundry in the basin unreasonable.

Bulgakov hotel review
Location, friendly staff, room quality and complimentary coffee as much as I want
The hotel overall was very pleasant: location was close to everything in center of Moscow... It was a little hard to find at first, but when we called hotel staff came out and led us to place, rooms overall we're very good, with the exception of toothpaste, toothbrushes missing... The place had complimentary tea and coffee... Unlimited. That's about it, really good place in my opinion.

Great location for visiting the sights of Moscow
Centrally located, safe & comfortable
The Hotel is a little difficult to find, the nearest Metro is Smolenskaya then walk along Arbat Street until you see the black & white cow, turn into the courtyard and look for the OTTO sign, above it is a Bulgakov Hotel sign and the entrance is around the back of that. Not all that staff speak English but its not a problem, they are all friendly and helpful. Arbat Street is not far from all the sights of Moscow and most are all within walking distance. There's lots of restaurant near plus a MacDonalds & Burger King although only the souvenir shops speak English. The rooms are small but clean & bright, you can feel the bed springs and the bed squeaks but was comfortable, the curtains are see through and the street lights glow orange but its not a problem to sleep, it's quiet and warm. For the price & location its the best you'll get, there's a small kitchen with free tea & coffee, there's a 24 hour supermarket on the main road and you can put your food in the fridge for when you need it. All in all if you're on a budget and want a central location then this is the place, it's not 5 star but it's perfect for a few days. The walls are thin and you can hear the other guests but no reason for any negative comments.

Peaceful
Cozy coffee corner, helpful staff, light and airy room
It was lovely, a little boutique hotel around the corner from Arbat Street in Moscow. The proprietor was wonderful - helped us with restaurant recommendations, stored our extra bags, registered our visas, and gave us advice about how to find the train. The place is a bit hard to find - it's accessible from the backside of the main street, and the door is tucked around a corner. Look up, there's a little sign that says "Hotel Bulgakov" in Cyrillic halfway up the side of the building.

Very comfortable hotel for the price.
Location was great! In the middle of downtown. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were a bit small, but comfortable.
My fiancé stayed here for a week while going to her visa interview at the U.S. Embassy. The hotel was close to everything and comfortable for the price. Was a lot of noise from neighbors and partiers, but what do you expect from downtown Moscow in the summer? Staff was very friendly and helpful as this was my fiancés first time to Moscow and was essentially "lost"! They went out of their way to help her find Metro stations and give her directions to everywhere she needed to go. Overall for the price it is a great little hotel. My fiancé was very pleased with her stay and had no major complaints.

The worst hotel experience so far.
Only the location
The worst hotel experience so far. We booked the room on the top floor just to find out that the whole floor was under construction. Nonetheless, the receptionist still put us in that room which was full of dust. In the end, we decided to confront her about this but she wouldn't let us move down for free. We had to pay extra for the upgrade. The best advice I can give you is stay away from this hotel
