I stayed for 1 night in the 2nd floor. The room is small but good enough for single. The bathroom is small but with basic facility. The room has a window with good air flow. I recommend this guest house and would like to stay here again.

really good location- close to the temples and walking distance to pub street though far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. the owner, staff and tuk tuk driver were all very friendly and extraordinarily helpful. definitely recommend it!

Most comfortable beds so far in S/E Asia. Run by an Cambodian family they offer excellent personal service with a local touch. They know whats going on and give you good advise i.e. how to find Somnean, probably the best tuk-tukdriver in town. He is highly recommended

Location is near good food and convenience stores, yet in a quiet and safe enough street. Also, many tuk-tuk drivers on standby outside the hostel, so it's very convenient to travel to Pub Street / Old Market. The owner and staff were very kind and always smiling, I felt very welcome in the place. The room they gave me was big (they upgraded my accomodation when my previous room got booked). The free daily breakfast, though modest, was also a nice touch. Also, I appreciated that they let me borrow their computer behind their desk for an online transaction I had to do. Overall, a good hostel I would recommend to friends and family.

          Great stay ”
We crave for authentic local guesthouses everywhere we go, especially in South east Asia, and this one ticks all the boxes. It's run by a lovely family that smileys all time and wants to make sure you are happy. All my emails before booking were replied within 2 hours. the bedroom was huge, clean, with air con, fan, good pressure on the shower and 2 windows. The breakfast was simple but good with a choice of baguette or toast with eggs the way you like it. It felt comfortable and safe and it was quiet . It definitely had the feel of a guesthouse rather than a hotel, even during breakfast we always end up talking with other travellers which was so good... There are hotels with swimming pools nearby where they let you in if you buy some food. It's 15 min walk to Pub street or $2 on a tuktuk. Speaking of tuk tuk: Mr Khunna that works with Kun Bao was fabulous and so patient, we were in some temples for hours and he never got grumpy, we loved Mr Khunna, best tuk tuk driver in SEA.

Bun Kao Guesthouse ist not new or fancy, but there is a warm atmosphere due to its charming owners. They really provide great service, whenever you need anything, they will help you. The included breakfast is not elaborate, but it seriously was one of the best omlets I ever had in Asia! A great asset are the common space balconies where you can watch the sun go down. I can definitely recommend to stay there.

Peaceful guesthouse run by friendly family”
Quiet and peaceful guest house run by a friendly family. Mr Kao is always ready to help answer any queries. Bus or tuk tuk or temple tour booking can be done here which is usually cheaper than what I was told on the street. Its not too far from the main areas of the town. There are a few other hotel/guesthouse nearby too, so if you find one full or not to your liking, you can walk into next one. This guest house is a bargain for the price I paid. Note: The family keeps the guest house very clean, but don't forget to hang the 'clean my room' sign outside your room, if you want it to be cleaned too.

friendly and approachable owner and staff, homey atmosphere and clean room and linens,
Mr Bun Kao and his son, Noy were very friendly. Their overwhelming hospitality makes me feel to come back again to their humble place. As regards to the rate of the room, the price was affordable; it was also clean and quiet/peaceful at night... A home away from home! Further, the place was situated in the area wherein many expats were renting; thus, I didn't feel separated from the civilization. Food was accessible in the area and tuk-tuks were parked in front of the guesthouse which made it easy for me and my friend to maneuver around. Nevertheless, the only drawback was the road going to the guesthouse. It IS not paved well. Overall, i did enjoy my stay in Bun Kao Guesthouse.

The helpfulness of staff, the location, and the deal
Location to the north of town is perfect for visiting Angkor while still being close enough to the city to check out downtown. Mr. Bun Kao is the nicest guy you'll ever deal with: along with a good breakfast you get water refills all day and everyone is super helpful; arranging visas, suggesting plans for the day, etc. it's just a real pleasure to be there. I'm normally too lazy to write reviews but the people here were just so great, I had to write something. I highly recommend this place.

Nice guesthouse but I don't recommend the dorms”
          location, staff, price
The guesthouse itself is nice : clean, quiet, in a nice location and the staff is lovely. But I can't recommend the dorm I stayed in. It looked nothing like the dorm in the picture, so maybe they have two different dorms, but the one I was in was on the last floor of the guesthouse. Actually, it was on the roof, with only a tin-roof on top. The temperature up there was unbearable, making it impossible to stay in the dorm once the sun was up, even with the fans on. The walls don't reach the roof, so the room is wide open for mosquitoes! Even with mosquito-nets on each bed, it wasn't enough protection. The fans are attached to the "fence" on top of the wall (it's hard to explain unless you've seen it) so they sometimes vibrated so much that the door started to vibrate too and made a lot of noise. One of the fans fell on my bed once, it was vibrating that much! It's a good thing visiting the temples tends to take all your day and I spent as little time as possible in that room.

Very kind and hospitable - will return to Bun Kao”
Very kind and hospitable owner ; reasonable/good tours and bus tickets ; Bun Kao's charity work
I only booked for one night at Bun Kao but was actually there from 7:30am on day one and didn't leave until 9:30pm on day two. The owner was so kind to pick me up at the bus stop as I arrived to Siem Reap very early in the morning and allow me to hang around and use the facility (restroom, shower, free drinking water, wifi/computer, furniture) until I had to go the next day. Since my return bus wouldn't pick me up from Bun Kao, he made sure that I got a tuk tuk at a very reasonable cost that took me to the bus safely. Bun Kao had reasonable/good tours. The 'small circuit' 16 km Angkor Wat one-day tour was $13 and included pickup from hotel, all day transportation, English-speaking tour guide, and water. Entrance fee to AW of $20/day and lunch were not included but the tour was worthed (make sure to check if it will drop you off at your hotel at the end). Half-day tours to the floating community on the river at $16 or $18? were also worthed and included round trip transportation hotel to pier, round trip boat to the floating community -which alone costs $25, and the tour of the community itself. Bus tickets Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, Saigon, etc were reasonable, e.g. a SR-SGN direct bus was $18. I also liked Bun Kao's charity work. The owner would buy and bring school supplies and clothes to the poor children from time to time. There was a little school donation box at the Guesthouse. He also helped bring free medical/dental care from volunteer doctors/dentists to poor communities around Siem Reap. I really appreciate Bun Kao's hospitality and will be back in my next trip to Siem Reap.
