Frog Beach House
Koh Phayam,Koh Phayam (Ranong) - View on map
"The Frog is one of the most remote accommodations on Koh Phayam, so do not take a taxi when you go there, rent a motorbike right in the village when you arrive, you'll need it for the duration of you stay at the island. The bungalows is not on the beach or beach facing, they are placed in the forrest, where there is no wind. It get's rather hot during the afternoon and will stay so throughout the night. The bungalows can just accommodate a bed, nothing else, in the night you only have 1 light bulb in the room, so if you need light you must bring you own battery operated torch, because power cannot be provide from the installation in the bungalow. Beds are hard, sheets to cover yourself are only provided on request. Bathroom is connected to the room, but is under the open sky. So expect to have the floor covered with leaves. Daily cleaning is not part of the services. The restaurant serves good food, and their breakfast deal is a good deal for you. The neighbor is Rasta Baby, and they will provide music from sometime in the afternoon until 2.00 AM. The beach is with white and gray sand, clean, but the water is rather shallow so you tend to walk a long time before you can swim. The water seems clean but the waves rolls up the sand to make the water unclear."

Phayam Coconut Beach Resort

"Very good location on the centre of the beach. Very basic accommodations, but it's all you need when in koh phayam. Would be nice if you received 2 bottles of water each day as most places do. Also having to ask for toilet paper everyday was a bit of a pain, but honestly it's a very chill island so no big deal.. All the staff were extremely friendly and the food was good as well. Would consider returning next time in phayam. "

Himmapan Resort

"We stayed here for a couple of nights in November and it was amazing. The loft bungalows were nice and clean and the pool was really nice! The walls opend like windows so it was easy to get fresh air into the bungalow. The best parts of our stay here were our host Jay, he's probably the most wonderful and helpful person we've ever met. (He told us which places on the island We should go check out and how to get there. And he helped us to book our trip to Koh Tao!) On our first night there Jay organized a barbecue for all the guests so we all ate together, drank some beer, chilled and talked by the pool. It was really fun! The annual Loi Krathong festival happend to be held on the second night of our stay at Koh Phayam so we all went together to the pier to watch the full moon and few of us sent a kràthong in the waterways. After that we all went together to eat dinner at a local restaurant. Our stay was amazing and I would definitely recommend this place! "

Little Hut
Koh Phayam,Koh Phayam (Ranong) - View on map
"If you're looking for a cheap, but fine bungalow to stay, Little Hut might be a good option. However it's definitely not a 3-star place as they claim themselves to be :) Pros: Location (2 mins walking to the beach, close to lots of cafes, and in general Aow Yay beach is probably one of the best place to stay on the island), simple but nice-looking, fine bed and mosquito net has no holes in it, complimentary water, shower and sink are new. Minor cons: Expensive food in the place itself (however you may find cheaper food nearby), no cleaning during our stay for 4 days (which is not a big deal, since it's a bungalow, not a hotel), you may hear all your neighbors' private life even their bungalow is 50 meters away, no safe box in the bungalow (but we haven't encountered any problems because of that), wifi is extremely slow (so I couldn't even open gmail) There might be similar options for a slightly lower price, but you should search for it on the spot..."

Phayam Garden Bungalow

"I hired a motorbike at the wharfe and started to drive to Aow Yai beach.I spotted Phayam Sport Bungalow. It looks different and interesting. I really enjoyed my stay. I joined in with the other guests and played various sports. What a great idea. The rooms were clean and I slept well at night. It was a short walk to the beach along a shady path. I loved my morning swim. I will stay here for sure again."

"Very beautiful surroundings and seaview, but very poor conditions for swimming. The bungalows are basic and simple., only cold showers. Good restaurant and kind staff. There are hammocks around but no comfortable furniture at all. We saw rats a couple of times."

M.P Resort
Koh Phayam,Koh Phayam (Ranong) - View on map
"The only 2 things that arguably make this place worth the money are that they have A/C and that you don’t need a mosquito net. Other than that, everything else was a bit uneven. You get a sense that they were trying their best, but lack of professionalism lets down their effort a bit. Breakfast was okay, but minimal and forgettable. We paid for the most expensive bungalow, the front one, but it turns out that that was for nothing because the resort chose to put dining tables right in front of our room, so it was loud, crowded, and smelled of food and smoke most of the day. The biggest problem we had was that there seemed to be a problem with the water. It was yellowish most of the time, and smelled of rust and dirt. They tried to fix the problem, but it was persistent. If you’re open to roughing it a bit more (fan instead of A/C and a mosquito net), the place next door (Vijitr Resort) is heads and shoulders above this place in terms of service, atmosphere, and food. They usually fill up early for Songkran, so we were forced to book with MP. That said, because this is our preferred beach, we still had a good time nonetheless. "
