Traveler impressions of Osaka
Wonderful place for shopping and going easily around with various public trains system. Good place for business and traveling.
Osaka castle is a must visit. Universal City is cool. Skiing at Biwako Valley was awesome! Food cheaper than Tokyo
Best for people who loves Japanese cuisine, U get best deal for the high quality food wagyu, sashimi, etc
I have been here in Osaka four times and I still love seeing the place! It's always a memorable time for me in this City :-)
Lovely city if you intend to go for the street food, dining and shopping. Osaka itself has not much sightseeing.
But you can do a day visit or stay longer in Kyoto and Nara - much more cultural and lots of temples to visit.
subways are so convenient for travelers to reach anywhere an ease. a busy and modern international city.
Shoppers can find everything in here. Easy to go Kyoto or go south for nature in Wakayama.
actualy osaka is business city but if you go for holiday there is alot of place u can visit for culture nature n sightseeing.
Great location for anyone that wishes to cover Osaka, Kyoto (only 30 minutes by JR Train from Osaka Station) and Kobe (only 30 minutes by JR Train from Osaka Station).
Lots of great food to explore
There is no way to see everything that Osaka has to offer in one night. It'll be at least two or three days before you can explore all the neighborhoods well.
My girlfriend and I hit the Pokemon Gym in Expo park, the Pokemon Center at Osaka Station (and the surrounding areas), and Shinsekai along with Denden Town. It was awesome and lots of fun but everything closes around 8 so we missed out on a lot of things.
I love Osaka. Osaka has almost everything. Main attractions such as Universal Studio, Aquarium, Dotonburi, Shinshabashi Arcade (+ many more arcades), Kuromon market, Housing and Living Museum (can rent Kimono with small token), Osaka Castle, etc etc are MUST visit places at Osaka.
Not to mentioned about Osaka food, Okonomiyaki, Takoyaki, ramen, etc. Basically you will not feel boring with Osaka even if you stay there 1~2 weeks.
You can enjoy all the Japanese food in Osaka. Almost all worldwide branding can be found in osaka. But I especially like local brand.
Osaka is the best place for Japan lover starter. It's got everything -great location to visit other great cities and its own shopping places
Great shopping places and good food from all over Japan can be found in Osaka. People are generally friendly and helpful especially to tourists.
Another big city which is very convenient to travel around. Good food and lots to shop around. But may not offer you relax time as limited countryside areas
The Universal Studio Osaka is one of the attractive point must go but have to avoid weekend. Too many people & everything is long queqe.
Convenient starting point to vist Nara area, Himeji and Kobe area by train. Popular places to visit are Osaka Castle, Todaji Temple, Nara Park, Himeji Castle & Kobe Harbour.
So much to see and do- make sure you can speak a little Japanese at the very least. It'll help you get around, people are friendly and will go out of their way to help you find where you're looking for.
In a 24 day span, 2 separate trips, I seen so much of Osaka and its tourists attractions most locals told me they didn't see as much as I did.
Once you master (it is seriously complicated though!) the train/subway system, you can easily get to places. The train/subway system is super precise about being on time, being punctual. I traveled to Kyoto and Nara and Kobe/Hyogo all within under 1 hour time each. There are a lot of places to visit/sight see/experience, just ask any tourist information center. Or most people are friendly in giving directions, speaking some minimal Japanese will help tremendously.
the only place in japan that you have to stand on the other of the escalator. Interesting souvenir 'making fun' of the famous one.
Umeda sky building is worth a visit to check out their city view. Visit their Orange street for cafes and home and deco shopping indulgence.
Osaka castle and park are beautiful. Dontobori street has lotsa nice restaurants but very crowded with tourists at night. Universal studio is highly recommended!
Sagano Scenic Railway is a good transport to enjoy the beautiful scene of Hozu valley located in the Katsura River.
Arashiyama is worthwhile to visit if you love rural area.
We were only there for half a day and a night but were very impressed with what saw during this short stay.
Kansai International Airport is a long way from the city centre and plenty of time need to be allowed for getting to and from there
We have difficulty to find the people can speak English, also have problem to use the ticket machine as they have no English to advise how to use!
Osaka Castle is quite nice the around environment view. Dontobori & Shinsaibashi is quite good for shopping.
Great place to try lots of food, esp. the local "okonomiyaki". Kids Plaza Osaka is a great place to take children.
Subway is fairly easy to use. Lots of places to shop and eat in central Osaka.
The beauty of Osaka or Japan as a whole is the people. The history , cleanliness , relaxation is all there.
However , I have not seen a culture more disciplined, respectful, honest, and very helpful towards tourists. They really take time to help out any stranger that they encounter even though they do not speak English very well. If only there is a little bit of Japanese in everyone the world will be a better place.
Overall, I have great experience with no Japanese language knowledge. People are nice and helpful. But, I feel that the information stated by the brochure or attractions are not informative.
I am so disappointed with Universal Studio that, there were not much English information, especially there were some announcement, its only in Japanese. Closing time mentioned were not accurate, whereby some of the park close 2-3 hours before the park closing time. We bought the express pass, but not able to utilize it.
It is worthwhile to pay a short visit in Osaka. It can be that arriving by plane from overseas in Osaka Kansai airport and visit Dotonbori, Peace museum, Osaka Imperial Palace (a must to go), Osaka tower.
Then move to Kyoto for a different fun.
Just a friendly city ..easy to get around..great restaurants and shopping..with staff so very courteous and helpful.
.however, still not open to outside influence as japanese Es only spoken in major tourist locations..can be frustrating
