Busuanga Bay Lodge
"Staff was excellent, made our stay so pleasant"
November 28, 2018
Busuanga Bay Lodge is nestled in the peaceful, integrated resort enclave of Puerto del Sol in South Western Busuanga Island. Guests can easily escape from the pressures of city living by a 45-minute flight to the island paradise that is Busuanga in Northern Palawan. The island is rich in bio diversity and famous for Coron Japanese World War 2 Wreck Diving as well as unique and interesting eco and adventure tours. The region is blessed with many small islands so Island Hopping Tours are a popular holiday past-time. The Bermudian-inspired architecture and name of the boutique getaway is due to the developer’s desire to initially create a fishing retreat. However, this activity is now only one of many that Busuanga has to offer. Renewable energy and sustainable design were key ingredients in the development. They have created an oasis in this semi-remote part of the island by ensuring that guests can enjoy all modern conveniences while being pampered with luxurious spa services. Guests can also choose from an extensive wine cellar, clubhouse, infinity pool, spa, and dive center.

A Perfect Place to Relax”
With the daily hustle and bustle that we encounter in the big cities like Metro Manila , a vacation like this is a must. Waking up witnessing the sunrise with the view of the Pearl Bay and not rushing with all the to do list. Taking a quick dip at the infinity pool and followed by a complimentary plated breakfast of your choice from their breakfast menu is just a simple way to start your day here at Buasuanga Bay Lodge. Staying at this Resort Hotel is already amazing but if it's your first time here in Palawan you will be more surprise by exploring the nearby island. I really enjoy my short stay here and we'll definitely come back again.
Excellent customer service, food & perfect relaxation”
we can’t recommend enough how we love and enjoyed the hotel, the facilities and delicious food and their awesome customer service. Yes the hotel is a bit of a drive from downtown Coron but the peace and quiet away from the town was very much welcome for us, after a day of island hopping . Definitely we are planning to go back.
Too Far Out The Way!”
Whilst this is a nice hotel with a nice view, it isn't close to anything at all. Because of the seclusion you have to do everything at or through the hotel - whilst it may not be that expensive by Western standards, everything cost significantly more than anywhere else we stayed in the Philippines. If you are looking to get away from everything and spend a few days doing nothing, this may be the place for you, however if you want to do the activities that Coron has to offer then this isn't a great place to stay. Having said that, the staff are great, the rooms spacious and clean and most of the food was good. When we went it was rainy season and the pool was so cold we couldn't get in it - so bare that in mind!
Excellent service but just misses the mark”
Love the hotel and service. But for us it was far too remote with either exorbitant hotel excursions or trips into coron town. Slight but bare was only certain hot drinks included at breakfast. I appreciate that is minor but free breakfast and then paying for a latte is strange.
Staff and Hotel Facilities are great ! Nevertheless, the hotel is located about 1 hour from the Coron town so tours and additional services provided by the hotel are overpriced (airport pick up, motorbike rental, island hopping..)
Superb location to see spectacular pristine natural attractions. No crowds. Busuanga Bay Lodge (BBL) has a breath taking lobby and infinity pool. Rooms are fabulous only surpassed by the smiling warmth of the professional attentive staff. A truly well run guest focused facility. I read the cell and internet has been an issue with this resort in the past but good news is a new cell tower is being erected as at Oct 2018 - so no future issues for social media addicts. Do not miss BBL and it’s micro South Cay private day tripper Island with azure waters and it’s white powdered sand beach straight out of a dream. Can’t say enough about this place. Have travelled the world extensively first class and seen the rest. This is the best for the paultry money you’ll spend at BBL when others charge up to five times as much. Do yourself a favour and book this place but don’t tell too many as I won’t get in next time if everyone books. Yes - I am a genuine Australian guest. Elated as you can tell.
Very professional service and meet the luxury standard,”
Pros: great view, clean, very up to luxury standard (amenities etc), great food and very professional staff Will be better if they can improve the gym area as the equipments are quite old, also maybe consider to build another pool, as the one near lobby is quite small to accommodate all the guests (especially if they can’t swim near the beach)
Beautiful setting for a relaxing get away. Limited options due to the remote location so prepare to relax and take in the natural beauty. The spa was excellent. The dining was decent but could be improved. The staff was excellent and the manager was as well. My only real disappointment was the mandatory service charge added to everything, I like straight forward pricing that reflects the real price you will pay. I tip generously in general but very much dislike the bait and switch feeling of built in service charges. The service was very good despite the built in service charge which is not always the case. Enjoy your trip its a nice place
Do not go , jail in middle of nowhere ”
Very bad and expensive experience, i do not recommend here unless you have nothing to do and just want to stay in resort, it was super expensive, the only good thing about the place was there private island wich was amazing other than that nothing, awful breakfast awful but great staff.
Very beautiful hotel. The location is very good. Beautiful hotel with very friendly staffs. Bedroom is very big compared to all the hotels i have ever stayed in the philippines. Very clean and peaceful surroundings. I will definitely come back here for vacation.
Great hotel, great views & great pool”
Really hidden away gem, beautiful hotel & relaxing. Staff are very accommodating. We got upgraded to the hillside suite which was a lovely room. A couple of things however, it's in the middle of nowhere with no taxis of tricycles. To leave the hotel to go to town or airport costs 1000php per person each way! This is an extortionate amount of money and out of kilter with everything else. They seem to hold you ransom at the hotel and whilst it's a nice hotel to be held ransom at, we did want to get out and about and have dinner/lunch in town. Town is 45 mins away. Food at the hotel is average - poor. Needs a lot of work - it's quite bland and designed for the western palette. We had the lamb rogan josh - def needs more flavour & spice and oomph. The traditional Filipino dish I had was very tasty however. Would I stay here again? Possibility not as I like to be nearer to things. If I had my own transport I would def stay here again. The hotel also doesn't really have too many activities or entertainment other than a spa & a singer in the evenings. Not sure it needs any additional entertainment however. It does offer paddle boarding and canoeing. And has a small gravelly beach.
Only complaint is that there is no wifi in the rooms and couldn't get a cell signal either.
Hidden Gem in Palawan”
Not too commercialised, and a bit far from city - we were blown by this place! Isolated but private. Great huge rooms.. excellent staff, and best of all offered islands for recreation. Practically had our own white sand island for some beach volleyball, snorkelling, kayaking, and some sunbathing! All in few hours. Great family time. So love it! BBL over Club Paradise! We should have not left.
Excellent view and facilities”
amazing view, facilities, and service. The staff was quite hospitable, but they can pay more attention to details. For example, they didn't notice lots of ants on the welcomed chocolate cake when introducing the room and didn't think about re-send another one after removal.
The entire staff of BBL was exceptional! Made us feel right at home. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food has a nice selection of both Filipino and western choices. I can see myself booking again if I come back to Coron.
The most relaxing place we have ever visited. Beautiful setting, fantastic staff just perfect romantic getaway. A must do trip would be to visit their exclusive beech club island of South Cay. Already planning my next trip back there !
A great water front resort in Coron! ”
Although BBL did not have a lot of information on their website, ie distance from coron town to resort or the hillside accommodations with lots of stairs and climbing to restaurant/main lobby, or the fact that swimming in the bay was not really recommended, the Resort itself is gorgeous! Staff were amazing, food was excellent albeit expensive and the rooms were perfect especially the bed, the bedsheets and pillows which I am extremely fussy about! Their private island, South Cay, made up for everything that was lacking with their information and terrible check-in process. South cay is a gorgeous private island for guests only that has amazing snorkeling and drinks all day long. I would highly recommend this resort even if it's a bit of a distance from town.
Very nice, with some lapses”
I want to rate it higher, as it is a fantastic property in a great location, but the value for money paid is not quite where it should be. A more realistic pricing approach to the water sports experience would be a great start. Food was very good, and the band playing nightly was very special, but the price is way beyond where it should be. Maybe a package that includes the nightly buffet and lunch would make the costing more palatable.
Because the hotel is located in a remote spot, staying there for a few days was great to relax and to visit some remote tropical islands which were exquisite. Suggestions: 1. Increase of catering options 2. Enhance the spa services 3. Hopefully the Internet connection would improve at some point
