A so so kind of guesthouse.”
Nearby subway, e-mart and shuttle
Its convinience due to very close to subway n shuttle bus from/to airport. Walking distance to hot spot area. But very frustrated although I have book the room with kitchen, they never provide you the tools at all. Do they aspect customer to bring their own pot,pans or kitchen utensil. Crazy man..when we ask, they said 'NO'..stupid answer..A bit smelly room & toilet. Nobody clean n pickup your daily garbage etc...the only convenience for customer is nearby subway station only. You don't have to walk to long in the freezing weather during winter time.other than that is only so so.

Good Location”
Very near to Myeongdong shopping, very near Myeongdong station (Exit 1), You don't have to walk far for food.
This guesthouse is for advanced level travelers. Not for sissy tourists. If you need bellboy or hotel staff, maybe you need to go somewhere else. No elevators for our pwd friends. While the contact numbers are posted (in markers) at the window, there was no telephone provided. I had to use my (roaming) cellphone to call the staff. Mid December is quite cold but we were able to stay comfortably warm inside considering we are tropical non-snow people. Beds are not very desirable. My wife hurt her back just turning on the other side.

Not up to par”
Friendly host but no other positives
Oh dear. Friendly welcome, but the room was unsatisfactory. Not cleaned properly. I had to clean the toilet myself ...gross. And remove gum that was on the floor. Drain blocked so the floor filled with water as I showered. Ridiculous and draconian rule that you can't take any food or drink into the room. In Korea never encountered this kind of rule before in any kind of accommodation.

friendly staff, good location, good price
I think it could have been cleaner. (trash and cigarettes butts were out and around the front lobby) They could easily make it more inviting with a few small touches. I would like real coffee in the morning. The strawberries and juice for breakfast was nice.

Bad Service”
When we arrived at about 1130pm on 24 April, we were greeted by a warm smile. Although it was pretty late, he still kindly helped us carry our (heavy) bags into our room. On the same night, I accidentally put down the ledge to stop water from flowing away and later realized that I could not unblock it. Therefore water is stuck there. Since it was already very late, we decided to only tell the same staff on the next day. On the next morning, we realized that there was no water when we opened the tap. To cut the long story short, we told the staff regarding the two issues we faced. He promised to let the staff who was on the afternoon shift to know and act on it. When we returned that evening, we checked with the same staff on the status of it. To our disbelief, nothing was done. When we probed further, he said that we should have informed the hotel manager on this. Who else could we inform when he was the only staff on duty? At all times, there were only him and the other guy on duty. Later, he apologized that he forgot about it but did not do anything much to appease us. Although it was only a guesthouse and we did not pay much for it as compared to staying in a hotel, I think credibility, and honesty are important in all service industries. Unfortunately, this staff did not hold that value. Not only that, it seems like there was no warmer. For the two nights we were there, we never failed to be woken up by the cold even though the air-conditioner was not switched on. Another point to note is the cleanliness of the sheet. When we arrived, there were crumbs of potato chips on our sheet which shows that no proper cleaning was done. Sorry, but we would not recommend this guesthouse to anyone else.

Hotl should update services provided”
New staff was helpful to move us to a more adequate size and proper bathroom even though it was just his first day at work. He even solved our wifi situation and gave us directions around.
We checked in quite late, took a taxi to get there. There was no sign to indicate Gana Myongdong hotel, instead its referred to as Sazanami hotel. Room on first night was awful :- bathroom was too small for a person to shower/change clothes. The water in the sink was draining REALLY slow, unavoidable as the shower is just above the sink. There were'nt any extra space in bedroom once you lay down your luggage. WIFI was frustating -staff quoted they have had complaints by guests on higher floor are unable to connect but did nothing to rectify on first night, there was some staffing issue; so no staff after 11pm. Breakfast was minimal, toast and milk/juice - no refill. There was no kitchen in sight, unlike what it stated on the website (found out the next morning of the 'kitchen' - it should be called a store room, odd boxes and chairs were stored instead of proper kitchen). Doubt there was any laundry service on site.

Nice Location”
Location, Room
Initially we were given a room, where the water in the bathroom didn't drain and it was like a pool. The room also had a lot of hair. Then we were moved to a second room after a complaint. Both rooms didn't have a mat outside the bathroom - as you step out of the bathroom with wet feet, there's no way you can dry your feet. And you only get two small towels, which if used as a mat would mean that you wouldn't have a towel for yourself. The location of the hotel is good, though there could have been clear directions to the hotel... The cost for a night's stay is cheap, considering the location. However, there shouldn't be a compromise on the cleanliness, even if you take away all the bed/furniture and give a mat to sleep on the floor. The cleanliness aspect and the mat made me frown! If the floor is swept well and a mat is provided, and if there's no water stagnation, this is a good hotel for its price. May be my case happened to be an unfortunate one.

Great location”
Really small rooms and bathroom. Good for short stay.. We were there during their seollal holiday and most of the days there were no one around if we needed anything. When there was someone around, he was helpful. One thing great about this hotel is its location. Just 2 minutes walk from subway, surrounded by food, convenience store and myeongdong shopping area is just across the street. Also, the walk to the hotel is not very hilly as compare to some we have stayed in before.
