Great location, friendly staff”
Fun location, lots of restaurants and cafes close by. Close to ferry piers. Cool rooftop bar.
Excellent location , staff and services”
The location is at the old town area and surrounded by a lot of nice restaurants. It is very close to public transport which you could take to reach a lot of attractions. The staff were super friendly and they all speak fluent English. Complimentary breakfast was so delicious and so many choice. Although the lift was not working , the stuff was still very helpful with helping us carrying the big luggages to our room. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much.
Great Location, friendly staff, and edgy vibe!”
Hotel Sub Karakoy is amazing. It's very easy to get around from here, since its just a 2 min walk to Tophane tram stop. This gets you to the main tourist places (Sultanmet), and even Taksim easily. There are tons of restaurants around, very edgy, unique type restaurants. And there's a buzz and vibe around the street near the port edges. Hotel is conveniently located to supermarkets, a petrol station, and a KOSKA ( souvenier for baklava and stuff). Staff like Mahmet is amazingly friendly, helped us every morning at breakfast with a smile and our heavy luggage. Would highly recommend if you're looking for something different, good for couples or small groups.
This was the second time we stayed at Sub Karakoy. We love the eclectic industrial design of the boutique hotel and always enjoy the area! It's snuggled into our favourite part of the city, with many great places to eat and things to see within walking distance! The staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful! I was sick the last couple days of my stay and they helped ensure I got the right medicine and offered other remedies to help speed my recovery. There is also a cozy 6th floor lounge with a wood burning fireplace and a 270 degree view looking out over the city and across the Bosporus. An added bonus that makes this place worth the stay!
Best Hotel in Karakoy”
There are many hotel options in Karakoy, but the SuBHotel is the best bang for the buck. It is ideally located to the hip bar/restaurant part of the neighborhood. Less than a 5 minute walk to the tram, less than a 10 minute walk to the ferry. I looked forward to go back there at the end of every busy day in Istanbul, and looked forward to the delicious breakfast every morning. The staff is no nice and helpful. I've literally never experienced such a helpful staff in any hotel I've ever stayed in. I will definitely be back.
Special thanks to Mr. Hasan and Mr. Gurkan for their top hospitality and excellent service.
Cool hotel in great location ”
Great location for a fun weekend in Istanbul. I chose this location because there are so many bars and restaurants near by and it’s on the tram line with easy access to Sultanahmet. There is some noise from the bars but this didn’t bother us as we were there to have fun. The speaker in the room was a nice touch and the roof top bar is nice. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d stay again.
Value for Money”
Definitely Value for money, considering the price and the location. Plus the staff is very helpful to get around. Will be back to this place for another Hipster Istanbul experience :)
Unique and funky hotel. But they might want to consider to provide tea/coffee services in the room. Currently customers need to having it at their lobby/dining area.
Aesthetically pleasing hotel with amazing staff”
I stayed there for 4 nights. I had visited the hotel in 2013 and was keen to revisit. This hotel is small, has personal service and is an interior design achievement. The reception/dinning area has industrial design with upcycled vintage furniture. Everything is tastefully done. The rooms are quiet with comfy beds and powerful showers. The headboards of beds look like they are made out of ship parts which are really impressive. The aircon was powerful and the maid cleaned our room every day. We didn’t see a single child which was nice! Most of the people that stay here was the ones who have an understanding of design concepts and are not looking for bling. The location is also nice as its walking distance to Tophane tram station from where you can connect to Ataturk airport with a stop in Aksary for 10 Turkish lira . You can also walk to Kabatas to catch a ferry to the prince’s islands. Istanbul Modern museum is a stone’s throw away. The hotel is well placed because you can walk in 35 mins to the grand bazaar, blue mosque and topkapi palace on one side. Galata towner is 10 mins away and Taksim square is about 25 mins walk. There is an amazing coffee shop nearby. The staff are really nice and treat you like a friend. We were especially impressed with Mohammad and the gentlemen at the reception. BTW on the 6th floor they have a terrace bar called UP. This is small and private and we spent an evening there listening to Edith Piaf while absorbing the vista view of Istanbul. Suggestion for improvement: I think the free boiled eggs in breakfast should be replaced with fried eggs. The hotel can simplify the breakfast menu by putting tea, coffee, eggs, toast, jam, cereal and fruit juice. This will not cost much money and will make the experience simpler and more appealing. Sometimes less is more! I will definitely recommend if you have good taste and want a hotel in a good location.
Friendly and cool ”
Loved this place. Great location, 1-2 blocks from the action . Simple cool rooms, everything worked, great free breakfast.
The staff are the heart and soul of this establishment”
Me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hipster area of Istanbul. We were having a double celebration and of the them was our anniversary, the staff decorated our room and made it special for us. Lovely room with a nice view of the decorated mosque in the area. Breakfast was good but the staff were a cut above the rest. I have travelled to many hotels over the years and i have to say I was impressed. I like to feel at home wherever i travel and i've got to say i felt like i was visiting old friends on this visit. First class customer service, its the staff that really impressed us. Recommended hotel for young and fun couples.
Great little hotel ”
Great location, close to several cool cafes and bars, as well as a tram stop. Walking distance to Galata tower and Taksim main shopping street. The design is colorful and unconventional - a welcome break from standard, more sterile hotels in this price range. Staff are fantastic and very helpful! Greatly enjoyed my stay, will be back.
What a great little find Sub hotel was. Exceptionally clean super friendly staff and cool area. Can't wait to go back!!!
Nice boutique hotel in charming hipster area”
Small affordable design hotel with friendly staff. Trendy bars, cafés, restaurants, and stores across the street in the up and coming Karaköy. All the bars, cafés, restaurants, rooftops, and stores in Galata and Beyoğlu nearby. Walking distance across Galata Bridge to old town bazaars, mosques, Hagia Sophia etc. The perfect hotel if you prefer a small and personal hotel with a vibe instead of a large premium hotel chain.
Amazing boutique hotel in great hipster area”
Great location in an upcoming central hipster area with small, well designed rooms. Amazing turkish breakfast with a smiling staff always there for you convenience.
Location, location, location! ”
Hotel Sub Karakoy is a wonderful boutique hotel that will allow you to explore Istanbul on foot. The rooms are clean, comfortable and very well designed. The hotel staff are very friendly and informative about the area.
Not your traditional hotel”
This is not hotel or bb or anything that can be remotely akin to anything in the realm of hospitality industry. That is not to sy that it's not worth the stay. The owner & all management use the 1 public area as their office ( unobtrusively) , the place is like a cafe with bedrooms or someone's home with bb service. Very quirky and extraordinary. All the staff are college going kids with no hospitality training in the contemporary real sense. However this place works if you're easy going & not expecting hotel style hospitality. If you're traveling solo and appreciate unconventional - this is a good place to be. The music playlist here is outstanding. All in all this is the quirkiest, funkiest place I've stayed and is best suited to the solo traveller in my opinion. The double room I was in was just enough space for me. Bathroom is tiny. The decor brings thoughts of a basement style burlesque-esque cafe lounge. No plushness about the bed/bath linens which is odd given that Turkey is known for its Turkish towels and linens! The beds and mattresses and pillows are good. You get a flat sheet and some rendition of a cotton blanket/bedspread. If I have to be critical I think the owners/management should find themselves an office to work out of & if they cannot, they should make the effort to introduce themselves and greet their guests. With a little extra effort made on the finishing ( the furniture (except the beds and odd chair) are cheap looking and tired, sub could be very hip and stylish with a twist. Moreover, With some polishing in hospitality service, this place could earn quite the reputation. Right now it appears to be in the "teething" stages of its development and doesn't quite make the mark for the conventional & discerning hotel goer.
Best hotel experience”
The staff at SuB make your stay extremely comfortable and genuinely want to be sure that guests enjoy their stay. The staff were fantastic at recommending places to visit, eat and drink. The hotel decor and design is modern but has a homey feel. The room rate includes an incredible buffet breakfast with eggs made to order with fresh cheeses, olives, meats, fruit, cereals, juices and homemade spreads. We were even given a jar of homemade hazelnut spread when we checked out as a parting gift from the hotel staff. The hotel is perfectly clean and the rooms are a reasonable size. The rooms were quiet except for the 4 am prayer call; however I quite liked this as it was all part of the cultural experience. The location was an easy walk to many of the sights or public transport is also an easy option. I recommend anyone visiting Istanbul should stay at SuB.
