Hotel Mediocre”
Estuvimos solo para pasar una noche por una conexion aerea. La ubicacion es muy buena a solo 500m de la Plaza de Catalunya. El personal es atento y cordial Ya cuando llegamos tuviemos el primer inconveniente, veniamos con mucho equipaje y tuvimos que subier una escalera con todas las valijas para llegar a la recepción, una vez hecho el chekin otra escalera hasta subir al primer priso. La habitación pequena, con poca luz y con mucho olor a humedad, encierro, cigarrillos, etc. Para nada recomendable, solo por necesidad como en nuestro caso para solo pasar la noche.

Buen precio, excelente ubicación, personal muy atento. Pero las habitaciones son ruidosas, no se pueden bañar dos personas seguidas pues se acaba el agua caliente y hay que esperar que se reponga, no tienen la opción de desayuno

Es un hotel que está muy bien localizado pero está anticuado. Nos atiendieron dos chicos jóvenes que no sabían muy bien lo que hacían, aunque nos ayudaron y mucho! Porque habían recibido una reserva de más y a punto estuvimos de dormir en la calle.

The Victoria Palace is a budget hotel established on the first floor of a period mansion. While the glory days of the building have passed, the hotel still retains many charming details of a more illustrious past. We were comfortable in our standard room because we had plenty of space for our things and for moving around. The room featured an adequate closet and a small flat-screen TV with international programming. We also had a small refrigerator and a safety-deposit box. While we were not overly impressed by the bathroom amenities, the shower itself was really great. We enjoyed the complimentary coffee when we arrived and also the next morning. All staff members were magnificently generous in their willingness to help - they had true customer orientation. The location and price were very competitive, so we will be certain to consider this property again for future trips!

I was very pleased to return to this attractive hotel. Its location only a few blocks from Passeig de Gracia and Placa de Catalunya makes access to most tourist attractions easy and fast. This budget hotel usually has competitive rates that a large amount of leisure travelers may wish at least to consider. The room dimensions were rather spacious. With a closet and a desk, storage areas were very adequate. I used the small flat-screen TV with programming from multiple countries as well as the mini-bar refrigerator. The bed and pillows were both quite comfortable. The hotel has an outdoor terrace which allows smokers to indulge in a spot away from guest rooms. Staff members at reception are very thorough in their work and consistently show meticulous attention to detail - it is a true pleasure to receive their cheerful and helpful assistance! Without any question, I will consider this hotel again for future trips to Barcelona!

stayed at Balmes Centro 83 due to renovation work at Victoria Palace”
My original booking was for the Victoria Palace, but the hotel moved me in advance to Balmes Centro 83 due to renovation work. In the end, both properties were quite similar. The buildings and rooms were comparable, and so was the short walking distance from Placa de Catalunya. My individual room had adequate dimensions. The closet had more than sufficient space for my things, and there was also a small refrigerator. The room also had a flat-screen TV. The building itself was a fine example of period architecture in the Catalan Modernist style. The lady at reception was very efficient and friendly, and I felt convinced about her attitude to provide good service. Although my original intention was to stay at the Vistoria Palace, I was very satisfied with my stay at the Balmes Centro 83 instead - and I would surely consider this property for future bookings in Barcelona.

Do not expect 4 star amenities-this is a 2 star establishment. Wonderful location, building neighborhood. Wifi only available in the lobby. Old building means you can hear things throughout the building throughout the night. Great shower. Comfortable enough beds. Most twin rooms are on the inside so there is no window that admits light(or traffic sounds). Free coffee in the mornings, electric kettle in your room. Tiny TV with no British or US channels - English language news via the Russians, the Chinese, or French stations. For that area, the price was very good...

Clean accomodation in perfect location but really noisy”
The Hotel is really good located in the centre. The bus stop where the Airport bus stops is really close. Maybe 8minutes walk only. Also the metro stop is close to the hotel. Accomodation was nice and clean but the walls were like from paper and we could hear everything ( even the mobile phone vibrations from next room) so It was sometimes hard to fall asleep by the noise.

Should have bigger & better signage of hotel. Strange entrance arrangement in an old building. Have to press bell for reception to open entrance door. Must carry your luggage up 5 steps to the old lift. Big lobby foyer with coffee machine. No window in room for that cost. Walking distance to Plaza Catalonya and many eateries around.

Good location but terrible hardware facilities”
We spent 3 night here. The room was very damp. It smells！You could see a dirty courtyard opening the window. Really small coffer. And horrible air conditioner ，which didn’t work for the first day. The next day after we asked for fixing the machine，it could work like 10 seconds then shutdown for like 20 seconds. Every night is very damp and cold. We asked for extra 2 blanket，but the next day they changed into 1 thin blanket. Not recommend and would not come back again.

The room that we got is in desperate need of improvement, shower room moldy and with very bad smell frim toilet. No sound proof atall in this hotel! Wen I was sleeping I could hear people from next room using and flashing a toilet. Staff barely spoke English. Our room got small balcony and the wue vas to the street, which is very big bonus, but our friends, get room with a window to the wall, and wenn they opened it it was discussing smell of suige!!! The room was so small and without ventilation atall, they had to fined another hotel and move out from there!!! So if you book this hotel bear in mind that it is very big possibility that you will get that. I will definitely will not go back and there and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!

The hotel entrance is never easy to find as we had to roam around some times to find the door. As other reviews, we expected the service and the hotel should be at least up to the standard level with the reasonable price that we paid. Contrary to our thought, the reception woman was so rude and never even smiled. The room we got had no window, dark and creepy as if like a jail. There was a weird smell that we couldn’t stand at all. It was totally different from the picture when we booked. We requested the reception to change our room or pay addition but needs a better room, but she only answered “No.” She was uncommunicative. Then we decided to leave the hotel and find another nearby hotel instead. We informed the reception and returned the key. Without asking us why we are leaving or whatsoever, she only said “That’s it.” What a experience! Can’t believe there is such a hotel exists in this world! But we didn’t regret to loose our money because we stayed another hotel with peace.
