Thanks we had a great stay and will recommend your hotel to friends.
The Cabanas are ok. The people working the from desk need some improvement. The maids work their butts off. As far as Agoda, they’re by far the worst travel site I’ve ever used. If you need their “24/7” help expect to listen to music for days.
I booked 1 room good for 3 adults and 2 kids. paid online, but when we get there we were asked to pay extra for the additional person for $50 cash
Great location at Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres”
Clean and basic rooms are a bit "faded" but in a great location, comfortable, spotless and steps from Isla's best beach. Can't be beat for the price - also have golf carts available for guests to rent which you can reserve by calling the hotel. Very short cab ride from ferry piers.
We stayed in a Cabana. The room we had was run down. Large water stains on the ceiling. Rusty towel rail in the shower. Old and very noisy air conditioning unit. The basic daily cleaning was OK but no attention has been given for months to items that are handled daily like electrical sockets. Outside our room was a drinking water machine that dispensed hot and cold water. This leaked badly and had obviously done so for a good long while as it was rusty all down the back. One of the chairs on our patio had a broken back slat. The area around the pool is nice. There are however not enough loungers and those that are there also need attention. The covers are left out all the time and when it rains the water soaks through the cover into the foam. It is only when you sit on them you realise you are getting wet clothes. We were required to have our card charged with US$150 when we arrived (to be returned when we left). It took over 3 weeks after we left for the money to be refunded.
Great place for a wonderful vacation! ”
This place was in a great location close to beach and all restaurants, bars and shops with an affordable price. It was nothing fancy but if you are coming to spend time in the hotel room you are wasting your trip anyway! Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, cold AC, hot showers with great water pressure!
By the beach ”
Cheap option and close to the beach . Good value for money
More like a 2-star than a 4-star”
We did not enjoy our stay at all. First of all there were mosquitos in our room, so we were bitten quite a bit throughout our 3 nights there. we requested for the room to be sprayed with repellent after the first night, but not sure if the hotel did as we asked as the problem persisted. We also found 2 big cockroaches in the bathroom on the first night. There was no wifi at the hotel, just in the restaurant, but that was barely working. We were told it was an island-wide problem, but a beach club 200m down the road had well-functioning wifi. Definitely not worth the money.
It was a perfect place for a solo traveler to stay.
Pleasant but inattentive to customer safety ”
The first week of my stay was great and I would have given an excellent rating until 2 days prior to leaving when a ceiling fan dropped on 2 of our group while sitting on the veranda. Staff acted quickly to remove the fan (i.e. evidence) and later someone arrived with antiseptic and bandages. No serious injuries but I and others were in shock, this could have resulted in head injury or even been fatal. I asked for a dr. but nobody came. At no point did any manager or owner appear to offer apologies much less acknowledge the situation. Promises were made to undertake maintenance. Also stairs in old section are rickety and unsafe. The man who looks after beach chairs was nasty and after I asked for a reduction on price late in the day he removed my chair & umbrella while I was swimming (after paying full price) while other guests kept their chairs at least 2 more hours. Could have been a great visit-again place but now will not return and would not recommend especially to families with children. Yes, accidents happen but follow-up is everything. A hotel can have wonderful amenities but if owner is negligent and does not take accountability for maintenance as well as for customers' safety & well-being it is not a place to stay. This same owner has other hotels Definitely avoid.
This hotel has great potential! However, the "deluxe" rooms need "work" - the faucet in our bathroom was broken, there was no railing going downstairs from the third floor and the breakfast was "horrible" - the "decaf" coffee looked more like mud and you only got one slice of bread
It was a "big" let down. The "deluxe" room that we reserved was not what we expected, i.e.the faucet in the bathroom was about to fall, the rooms located on the third floor did not have a banister, the so call breakfast only included a piece of bread and a cup of coffee that looked more like mud. The hotel has great potential however, it is very poorly managed.
1 night only”
very tired musty room with incredibly noisy air con. building work outside. breakfast too dry pieces of toast and a tub of jam.
Good value for the price.”
No serious issues. We were only there for one night.
Good value for money”
Pleasant and nice”
Great, would come back just for location and the beach
Cabanas Maria Del Mar Hotel”
Pretty average hotel with a beachbar right on the beach. The location is as good as it gets on the north part of Isla Mujeres. Five minutes walk to center of downtown. Note, The hotel onsists of two seperate buildings, quite different in style, choose depending on preferance. Free water is included.
Perfect location on the beach”
Rustic. Don't expect too much from the hotel apart from its fantastic location on the beach. If you do not expect too much, you ill be greatly rewarded. The secret is to relax into the pace of the island, appreciate the premium position this hotel has on the beach, and do not get too bothered by what can appear slow and sometimes unfriendly service. This can be the norm in a more unsophisticated part of the world but the people are genuine and, on many occasions display great humour.
