Cadillac Hotel was once the summer residence of Charlie Chaplin, one of the most famous names in entertainment. The property is very rich in history, and enjoys a perfect location on the famous boardwalk of Venice, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The hotel provides convenient access to some of California's most popular attractions, including Beverly Hills, Disneyland, Santa Monica, and Hollywood. Spectacular sunsets over Santa Monica Bay can be enjoyed from the rooftop of this pink and turquoise art deco hotel. Amazing clean hotel right on the beach”
I had a great stay here, after reading some negative reviews about this hotel I had low expectations however the Cadillac hotel by far surpassed my expectations!! I had a standard room yet it had an ocean view! It was spacious, clean and very modern. It is located right on the beach which was my main reason for staying there. Being right on the end of venice beach it is far enough away from the dirtiness and excitement of venice beach and only a 20 minute walk along the beach to Santa Monica!
Hotel was great but Agoda sucked”
The hotels was great we'd stayed their before. The Continental breakfast was absolutely nothing to write home about. It was poorly stocked and poorly staffed. It wasn't the reason we stayed their so it wasn't that big of a deal. Agoda on the other hand was a nightmare! We went round and round with them about our reservation which they cancelled because we didn't according to them respond to an email they sent which we never received. They didn't notify the hotel the reservation was cancelled so the hotel showed us as still reserved and paid for through Agoda. We had to call our bank and verify that the funds had been deducted from our account which they were. Then luckily we checked the bank statement online and found that the very next day the account was credited back the total for the reservation. We called the hotel and they showed we still had the reservation and it was paid for in full. So we called Agoda and they confirmed that the reservation was in fact cancelled. When I explained to the woman at Agoda that we were scheduled to arrive the very next day in Venice Beach, Ca and that we needed that reservation, she explained to me that I needed to go back to the Agoda site and resubmit my request for the reservation. I asked couldn't she help me do that? She went on to explain that she was helping me by letting me know that I had to go back to the Agoda website and resubmit the reservation request myself! What a horrible and frustrating experience. The icing on the cake was Agoda would even help me straighten out what they has screwed up. What if the hotel had been booked when I went to place the second reservation. They were rude and unprofessional. It wasn't worth the few dollars I saved by going through them.
Great hotel, excellent, friendly staff”
After booking this hotel, I then read up some negative reviews and became a little worried. There was nothing to be worried about though, as arriving at the hotel, I was met by friendly and helpful staff. The room was lovely and the location of the Cadillac great. There was a $5 a night charge for the Internet, however this was stated on arrival and was pretty reasonible anyway. Car parking was $20 a day, which seemed a bit steep (I didn't have a car, so this didn't bother me), but you can likely park around the corner of the hotel in the street if you needed to and wanted to save some $s. Overall, very happy with the hotel & staff. Thoroughly recommended.
Good little place in perfect location”
The Cadillac was a great stay. Right on the boardwalk. Close enough to Santa Monica to walk or ride and uber to Hollywood or airport still cheap. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Bathroom very small but was fine for us. Can be noisy at times with the homeless people outside but we slept through it. It seems unsafe at night to walk around so perhaps families with small kids or girls travelling together might not like it as much. We just got an uber once it was dark. Compared to other places in the area the price is very reasonable. I'd stay there again. The staff are really friendly and helpful too.
The two men at the front desk were tight The lady who cleans the rooms was nice Their decor was tight Location was perfect right on the beach Their lobby was cool we took our own food so we just used their microwave but they have breakfast for you. We stayed one night. Added cost 25$ boutique fee to use their WiFi and eat their breakfast and 30$ parking fee additional to the room. Was the cheapest room I found tho. Venice is rough. Lots of homeless people but it was a cool experience staying here. Rent a bike for $7 and go Visit the Venice canals. Or just chill on the beach
I will start with the negatives, because they are so few. The rooms are small and plain, and the beds are mattresses on a wooden frame. They were still comfortable. The TV didn't work consistently. There are very few outlets. The walls are thin and you can easily hear people in other rooms and the hallway. The elevator was a bit rattly. But this hotel makes up for it in almost every other way. It is literally on the beach, steps from Venice Boardwalk. It is an older building and has wide stairways with original banisters. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast included hot food options and was way better than expected. The lobby was welcoming and had a very friendly feel with couches and a TV, as well as art. The roof access and view were magical. I spent a lot of time on the roof and could have spent even more. Watching the sun set over the ocean from the roof was a truly unforgettable experience. And there were many restaurant choices just steps away.
budget option right on the beach”
All Cadillac Hotel staff members with whom we interacted were professional and courteous. They worked efficiently to assist us with our needs. Our standard room was spacious and comfortable, and it had a closet with safety-deposit box. The room also featured a large-flat screen TV and ceiling fan. We felt that the carpeting was quite old and would recommend a change. The hotel has a single elevator which is rather compact, so moving up or down with luggage can be a bit of a challenge. When we checked in, we learned that the hotel assesses a $20 USD "boutique fee" about which we did not know before we arrived. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet comprising cereals, breads, and fruits. In terms of location, the hotel is right on the beach but in an area where some homeless persons have settled. For sure, we felt safe at all times.
Having read a good few critical reviews I was pretty anxious I'd messed up, but it was all good. Terrific location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, great cafe opposite and the Venice Ale House a block away
Good location! Walking distance to Santa Monica pier and cheap and nice food all along Venice beach. It's right on the beach so the view is incredible.
central to venice beach”
location is perfect, right on the beach. food options oppos front door, bike and scooter hire in same building. tired and dated hotel, however the whole of venice beach is tired and dated and this is part of experience. we would def stay here again. car parking is local
The best view and location.”
My stay was fantastic. I had an easy check-in/out. The location was unbelievable, steps away from the beach, shopping and sightseeing. I had a great room with an excellent view. My bed was comfy and I had a great sleep. The room itself was fairly clean (bathroom was really nice). Right away I noticed the carpets needed to be changed or steam cleaned, they were a bit dingy. Other than the carpets, this hotel was fantastic. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Loved the view of the room and their rooftop is amazing during the sunsets. Room was very clean. The bathroom was not what we expected. They have little showers and the pressure for the water, while taking a shower, sucked. No hotel parking unless you pay for it and it is also very limited. But still over all experience being that close to the beach you cannot beat it. Staff was amazing and friendly. Would definitely recommend tho.
Location is A+”
Yeah hotel is nothing special, BUT it was great. Maybe 200 ft from the sand, and great food very close by. The hotel fits the vibe of Venice and the rooftop access is worth the stay. I will stay there again for sure.
cheap, clean no frills rooms”
Don't listen to people bagging this place. It is good value for money. There is no fridge or A/C. But it is located in awesome spot dividing Venice and Santa Monica Beach. Room is bare, clean and basic. Don't expect the Hilton
Great staff, completely on top of their game. Can't get closer to the heart of the venice beach beast, and the front desk makes you feel welcome, safe, secure & comfortable.
The staff was really great, always super friendly. Really good location for the price, I honestly think I'll stay here again. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of a locking window, we stayed on the second floor so it really wasn't a big deal but I would prefer one that locks. Also, not too much furniture in the place, just a bed, little table, and chair. But who actually uses hotel furniture?
Best Location, Better Staff”
The location is great, and the family room had a small kitchen a queen and bunkbeds so I didn't have to double up with any of the kids. All of the staff were cheerful and helpful; we really did feel that we could ask the front desk for anything and they'd do their best by us. Being right by the beach is a must - with kids something always gets forgotten. The building is a little older, and while it's in the process of being updated, there are some grungy things (like the carpet) - but I've lived in worse places and I was happy to have stayed here and would stay again.
Room was very small but clean. It was satisfactory for sleeping. The location is perfect. Right ”
Staff is very nice and helpful. Cadillac restaurant across the street has very good food.
Excellent location! ”
Really good location if you want to stay close to the beach (between santa monica and venice) and rather affordable. Large rooms. Two points however : - about 10$ pp to pay extra upon arrival for Wi-Fi and electricity (one may wonder why customers need to pay electricity as an extra fee). - parking is expensive, no free parking offered by the hotel.
I love how the location is right in front of the beach, and there is also a rooftop with an amazing view. However, the area is a little sketchy, lots of homeless and drugs but that's Venice. The weather was incredibly hot (high 90's) during our stay, and the fan was not enough to cool down the bedroom. We were sweating the whole time, dreaming about an AC! The carpet was pretty nasty and bedsheets didn't look like they were washed between guests. We got vouchers for breakfast but the selection was very limited - only muffins, bagels, toast and cereal. Lots of room for improvement... Staff was super nice though!
