Palmers Lodge: Swiss Cottage
Camden,Camden - View on map
"I stayed here for three nights by myself at the end of my holiday in the U.K. (my boyfriend had to leave before I did, so I had four nights to myself - I would have stayed all four nights here but the first night they had no vacancies) and I'm so glad I made the decision to stay here! Location was convenient. It's a quick walk from Swiss Cottage (Jubilee Line) tube station (exit 2) and there are numerous buses as well. If you're taking the tube, you can be at Oxford Street in no time at all - take the Jubilee south to Bond St. and you're in the heart of all the best shopping and atmosphere that central London has to offer. If Camden Town is on your agenda, you're actually better off grabbing a bus because you'll get there faster, and there are a number of buses which go toward that part of town. Regardless of where you want to go, you'll be close to everything the great city of London has to offer! In the neighborhood, within a few minutes walk, there are a few fast food restaurants, a couple small restaurants which serve good food, and a couple pubs (this is London after all). There's a mini Marks & Spencer food shop, Argos, a pharmacy, and a number of other shops (including a charity shop which is ALWAYS good for buying cheap books, and if you're like me, that's a necessity). Cleanliness: I was very impressed by how much attention they pay to cleaning the place! You hear stories about hostels being these dark hovels of squalor, but this place was clean and lovely! Beds: Comfortable, and I truly loved and appreciated the privacy curtains and individual reading lights. I was able to sleep quite comfortably in the room. Staff: Great! Very warm, friendly and helpful! Breakfast: Simple (toast/croissants, cereal, juice, coffee), but it's free! Dinner menu: Surprisingly good and inexpensive as well!"

London Marriott Hotel Regents Park

"We were surprised and felt warm that concierge team have provided us a bottle of water each upon check in especially after we were tired from dragged our luggages all the way from train station to hotel. Hotel dinner and breakfast is good. F&B service staff are always approachable. Only Front office staff might need to improve efficiency of their check in and check out process. "

Clayton Crown Hotel

"I had booked a family room for 2 nights as this had a double and a single in the room I had a colleague staying with me for one night and needed separate beds. The 1st room I was given only had a double in but once I had shown reception my booking with a family room, I was quickly moved to the correct room. Other than that, the hotel was great. Clean and quiet. Gym isn't the best but there's enough to tide you over. The restaurant hasn't got a massive selection but again, there's enough to keep you going and of course, there's plenty nearby. "

Haverstock Hotel

"It is a pleasant hotel. It has to be seen in the context that the rates are very reasonable for London accommodation. For the price: It is clean and the staff are very polite. (Thank you, Alexandria) There is a good continental breakfast. The beds are very comfortable and the showers are very nice. The location is in a nice part of Hampstead with the tube station nearby. It feels good and safe without the crowds but there are lots of amenities just a few steps away. The decorations are stylish. The rooms are small and there are no lifts so if guests already expect that, then there will be no unpleasant shocks. It is a 3 storey walk up. It is suited to mobile travellers, on the go. It starts you off with a nice breakfast and welcomes you back with nice powerful showers and a good bed. And you don't feel you have paid too much. I will be back. "

"I love staying in the Camden hostel!! So easy to get to and really cheap :) great rooms and a lovely venue/ My only issue here was the fact that the room was SOOO HOTTT argh I was up on the highest third bunk bed and was like a sauna :( they really should turn the heating off and gave me a right headache all the next day but had a great time other than that and will definitely be coming back again soon!!"

La Gaffe Hotel and Restaurant

"Very friendly and full of character, Clean and thoughtfully equipped with excellent service. Excellent value. The hotel is directly on the busy Heath Street, but we had a very quiet room on the back,. The only thing you should be aware of is that the internal walls are very thin, so you will hear every cough/snore etc from adjacent rooms, if that bothers you. Earplugs are thoughtfully provided. "

"Pros: location. Easy launch pad to go explore the UK. Cons: no ac - it was really hot in our bedroom. And the door that was going to the garden was lock. It would have been great to be able to open it both for heat and for fire safety reasons. Thankfully, the staff found us a portable fan so it helped with the heat."
