Cameronian Inn is a family-run converted inn offering budget, no-frills, quiet accommodation. It is situated just off Main Street of Tanah Rata town and is only a short walk to coffee houses, restaurants, grocery/convenience shops, banks, ATMs, laundry shops, pharmacy, and taxi/bus station. The inn serves a simple Western breakfast, and the scones and strawberry jam are homemade by the innkeepers. The innkeepers can assist guests with information on local sightseeing and hiking activities as well as information on public transportation to other popular tourist destinations in Peninsula Malaysia.

Good value and location”
We spent 4 nights at the Cameronian Inn, a small family-run business which is kept impeccably clean. The facilities are modest with a dining area (tables and chairs) and outdoor tables as well. Our one regret was that there were no comfortable chairs for relaxing. Our room was quite large with a wardrobe and comfortable queen sized bed. A chair or two would have been nice. The bathrooms down the hall were kept spotless. There was plenty of hot water and the water pressure was adequate. The inn was within easy walking distance of many restaurants and a ten to fifteen minute walk from the bus terminal. We do have some confusion about the cost of our stay. On our receipt from Agoda,, the price includes a 10% service charge. When we arrived at the inn, we were charged 10 RM per night for tax. This has not happened elsewhere in Malaysia, so we are unsure why this extra charge was added.
Great place to stay in the Cameron Highlands!”
My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights in the Cameron Highlands and we had a very pleasant stay at Cameronian Inn. The owner is really nice and helpful with things to do in the area. The accommodation is basic, but good value for the money. Everything was clean, tidy and quiet. The wifi isn't the best, but other than that, all was great!
I love it!”
I just love the atmosphere in the cameronian inn. It felt like home. The toilets were squeaky clean and the room was very comfortable for travelers like me. Spent 2 nights here and hoping to come here again in future. The owner is very helpful and kind. Just to remind, we need to speak in low volume at night so that we won't disturb others to sleep. During my stay here, everyone understood the rule, so we all have good sleep at night. :)
The highlight of our holiday!”
This hotel is a real gem of a place. Tucked away on the quieter side of Tanah Rata, but within easy walking distance of everything and with wonderful service and rooms, we were pleasantly surprised by this great hotel. Service was impeccable, the room wonderful (with the first wonderful bathroom we had had since we arrived in Malaysia), and we enjoyed so much coming back to our hotel after a day of treking. We would also highly recommend the reflexology massage place along the main road in Tanah Rata. Just what you need to ease your aches and pains! Breakfast could be improved but considering other places we stayed in, it's still above average.
Peaceful place near the town center”
When we got to the town, the owner picked us up from the tourist information. They can speak English very well. The hotel is located 5 min walk from the main street, 5 min from the bus station. Cameronian Inn is a perfect place to relax, there is a green area around the house so you can enjoy the fresh air and reading there.
Little haven ”
The Cameron Highlands aren't the cheapest place in Malaysia to stay, but this hotel is really good value for money in comparison to some other places we looked at. It's small and quaint, we had the double room with private bathroom and it was a good size with a window to outside (I think the shared bathroom rooms have a window into the hallway). The shower was good pressure and there was always hot water which is nice in the cooler temperatures, the bed was comfy too. We loved the garden area, we are our breakfast out there and then relaxed on the sun chairs, some really pretty flowers too. Yen, the host, is really helpful and there's good maps of nearby jungle treks in reception (you need to be FIT to do these treks!) Only negative is the Wi-Fi. While I don't mind not having Wi-Fi in the room, it was still really bad in public areas and people were competing for it. For people like ourselves planning our onward journey, we didn't find the Wi-Fi good enough at all.
Nice place but a bit overpriced ”
if you are reading this then you are aware that most of the hotels in this are did not receive good reviews. i selected cameronian inn because it had the best reviews for its price value. the pros: it is only a 5 minute walk from bus depot departing to other places. it is only a 10 minute from the other (different location, but still close) bus depot that drops you off in cameronian highlands. quiet location, while there is no air conditioner it is so cold there you will not need one. cons: still overpriced and like most places here does not offer a complimentary breakfast, coffee or tea. even hostels in other places would at least offer coffee and toast. wifi is only available in the lobby and not the rooms.
quiet surrounding, nice place”
cameronian inn located about 5 mins walk from tanah rata bus station, quiet surrounding, helpful staff, the room was clean and comfortable, surrounding got a lot of restaurant, must try steambot here, delicious
Comfortable and affordable hostel stay.”
We are a group of two girls, we enjoyed out stay at the Cameronian Inn. The room was large and comfortable. Cuz we choose a room w/o restroom, so we need to use the shared one, which is not a problem at all. The shared restrooms are well kept, and the shower water was really good. The hostel is quiet close to the town center, and staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was cheap but very nice.
Clean, nice place, best staff ”
The place is really nice and cosy, but the thing we appreciated most was the guy of the gusthouse. He was really kind and helped us a lot, he gave us a lot of useful information, cooked us a good breakfast and rented us the scooter. Rooms are basic, but clean, good for the standard of Tanah Rata.
Charming Inn with Great Scones”
The staff is very, very friendly and knowledgeable about what to do in CH. We told them everything we hoped to see in CH, and they advised us on which tours to take AND booked them for us. The tours ended up being perfect -- we saw everything we wanted to and a little more. The staff also booked our van ride to Penang. We were picked up at the Inn for both tours and the van ride, so that was a big plus. The food at the Inn is delicious and cheap. Make sure to wake up for breakfast -- it's worth it. The location is great, too. You're a minute or two walk away from the center of town. As for the room itself, it was very simple, but all we needed during our stay. The bed was so comfy after a long day walking up a mountain. The shared bathrooms were incredibly clean, and I never had to wait to use one. The free wifi was also real quick.
This Inn was basic, but lovely and immaculate”
this inn was tucked away from the busy main street, but within east access to all restaurant, bars, etc. we had a car and they had plenty of parking. it was basic accomodation and our room was shared toilet and bathroom but all were immaculatley clean. breakfast was cheap and lovely, however could also have gone to main strip and had breakfast there
room and location is OK but they need more kind.”
Generally Cameronian Inn was OK to stay compared to the price The location was good, room condition is good too. However, I didn't like that they charged everything. I had to pay 1rm for towel, 0.5rm for a cup of hot water.(And it was not always available!!) The scone also 4 rm. It was not that much pleasant.
Lovely Guest House ”
We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely like to come here again. Nice and cozy guest house with really affordable price! The building and surrounding is nice and clean. The staff is helpful. The room is spacious, the water pressure is good, the water heater is working well, the homemade scone is delicious, enough parking space for us as we stayed during non-peak season. Also the location is very strategic. Near the shopping mall, restaurants, banks ,etc. As our room just beside the road, sometimes we could listen to the vehicles sound but it was not too disturbing. The only think that we didn't like was the pillow provided were not really comfortable. The pillows were thin so we asked for extra pillows to support our head and neck. And also there was no fan provided in the room. Sometimes we felt stuffy in the room. We afraid if we open the windows, there will be mosquitoes. Other than that, everything else was good for us!
Very Pleasant Stay”
The man working at the front desk was excellent. Showed us around the Inn, gave advice multiple times on things to do in the town, and cooked good breakfasts quickly in the morning. Room was very clean and comfortable.
Good but need improvement on cleanliness”
This was my 2nd time staying at Cameronian Inn. The first trip was satisfactory. However, during this trip, I found lots of blonde hairs on the bed, floor and even inside the bathroom. Parking was definitely insufficient here. I hope they could improve on this.
Not worth the price”
i booked a double room with bath in euro (20) that was supposed to be worth 40. If i have a look to camerionian inn site, the equivalent in MYR is 160 and it is the most expensive room you can get. The room i got (no other choice according to the owner) was very small (the bed takes all the space and you can hardly open your suitcase), the bathroom was very tiny also (sink is almost in the shower, no shower curtain so after you showered the bathroom stays all wet the whole day). No TV unlike what is shown on the hotel's site for this price. Small window but no light as i was facing the backyard... The hotel is quiet at night which is nice, and very close to the village. They provide wifi which is also nice, and homemade breakfast (scones) is nice too (but is not included in the price). But for me it was not worth the price i paid, as i had a very depressing room. It rains a lot in cameron highlands, so the room should be nicer if you need to stay there a few hours a day because of the bad weather...
lovely ambience homelike”
lovely set up in a homely environment.beautiful yard with lovely greeneries reflecting the cameronian environment. Rooms were clean ,neat and well maintained. ample notices and instructions were avaliable to make our stay informative and comfortable. Necessary utilities such as hot water were readily avaliable as we were travelling with our 2year old baby. Overall it was a happy and enjoyable stay here
Friendly and helpful owner”
We stayed only one night at the Cameronian Inn after arriving from Ipoh by bus. It was easy to find (directions given to us by a local) and the owner was friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and tidy, however ours was quite noisy as we were right next to the communal area where the receptionist and her friends say and talked til past midnight (stopping when my husband asked them to keep the noise down). We moved the next night to somewhere a bit quieter.
Clean budget hotel”
The male receptionist and also the hairstylist was not friendly when we were checking in at the reception, otherwise the hotel is actually located in a quiet area and just a short walk to the Tanah Rata town area.
