Our stay at the Cape Nelson lighthouse was just perfect and I wish we could have stayed longer. The place is magical and the cottage ("sunset cottage") was very comfortable and charming. We'll definitely be back!

Kiwi couple review”
Oh why did we only book for one night. This is a fantastic location if you want to be out of the city and enjoy a wild back to natural environment. The house which was built in the 1800's has some patina on the outside but inside it has be wonderfully modernised. Very comfortable just like moving into someone's home. Great for travelers to catchup on all the important things like washing, some self cooking / catering and just taking the time to slow down some what from your tour of the great ocean road. All the mod cons of comfortable easy living. Don't worry if the weather is raining or blowing a gale because the book shelves are well stocked with all sorts of interesting books. The beds are comfortable and the standard of the linnen towels etc is just the right quality. We would suggest you purchase some items from Portland like some food or ingredients beer and wine and plan on a relaxing stay. Self cook breakfast of eggs and bacon is a really nice touch.

It is an incredible experience”
This is an unexpected stay. The hotel is a bit difficult to find but it is really worth it. It is by the sea and next to a lighthouse. In the morning, the view is breathtaking. It is not a hotel but rather a cottage and is not 1 bedroom but 2 bedroom. Telephone reception is bad though and the wifi have some problem when we stayed But that does not matter compared to the view we got. It is really an experience of a lifetime. Try to check in early as at night it can be quite dark. However, we really enjoyed the stay and is very memorable.

The Perfect Getaway ”
Cape Nelson’s light house is an amazing place that has you removed from the hustle and bustle. The views are spectacular, located within easy distance to many of the local sights and views. The open fire is always a plus!

recommended to book the sunset or sunrise room, the best view and have sealed road. the other room caretakers cottage and Anex cottage is not suitable for small car cause of the road is on bad dirt road. the view and the house is really amazing, trully feels like a paradise.

Stayed in the caretakers cottage and it was beautiful! It was Very secluded and out of town but was worth it as it has everything we needed to cook, etc. also HD Stunning views around the light house. Only downfall was Internet being slow and there is no reception (with Optus) but was still very much worth it! We will Come back.

My family loved this accomodation, we especially loved the breakfast supplied, the comfy beds the decor the artwork was all great except the hot water was not hot, but maybe something had not been switched on but as we could only stay 1 night we were ok.... probably should have let management know perhaps they could have assisted

This is a lovely cottage, well presented. The staff were very professional and friendly. We had a slight mishap with a burst water pipe in the bathroom. We were told how to turn off the water and moved to the cottage next door with just a telephone call

We had a great night here on the trip from Adelaide to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road. The cottage was perfect, had everything we needed, the bathroom was amazing. The location is amazing, we all wished we had longer here.

Beautiful on a cold day...stunning even”
This was a lovely place to stay. We stayed in the Sunset side of the caretakers cottage. Loved that they had good heating. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, which is what you want on a cold windy night. The cottage is so solid that the wind doesn't even move the building. The walk up to the light house on sunset is amazing to. Just loved it there.

Booked for 2 nights but stayed in none”
Booked for 2 nights but stayed in none. Me, my wife and a baby in her. Normally will read Guest Book but only the last few entries. However, this time I just have an urge to read the whole book. Read the book in 1st night and decided to move to town that night. Checked out the 2nd day. Reasons: 1. too remote; no one to call for help within 10km, weak HP signal 2. too noisy; strong wind causing doors to move. 3. Entries in Guest Book dated somewhere Nov 2013; 3 eerie statements. Cannot afford to have anything that goes wrong. Thus we choose to leave. Otherwise, it is a nice place.
