Fantastic Location”

Location, Food and Staff

This has to be one of the most beautiful locations for holiday accommodation in the world - Cape Tribulation is just stunning. The accommodation is basic but perfectly adequate considering you are in the rain forest! The quality of the food exceeded our expectation and was equally as good as the fare served at our last hotel - a 4star place in Cairns. The staff were friendly and efficient! We had a problem with our bungalow on the last night but Mat the Manager sorted things out in double quick time. Overall this was a fantastic stay!

Fantastic location”

Location, staff support, and all the activities to do in the area

We came in a rented car and were fully prepared for self-catering. The kitchen we had available was very good so we enjoyed our food, but also the food at the restaurant. The pool was a welcome change as swimming in this area has to be done very carefully. Outdoor activities here are just great; Daintree Rainforest is a must and we had a lot of fun as well as interesting walks. The beach house staff are very helpful in this connection.

Well organized accommodation mix @ great location ”

Location, friendly staff, good bar/restaurant on site

We stayed in the Ribbon Cabin with En Suite last August as part of our honeymoon in Queensland. We can really recommend this accommodation as basis to explore the Daintree Rainforest and/or just to enjoy being (almost) off the grid for a while. We want to give a special thanks to the staff, especially behind the bar, who were very helpful and made us feel welcome (and really on our honeymoon :-). The 'resort' itself has a very relaxed vibe and the on-site restaurant/bar is one of their strongest assets. At this accommodation you can perfectly do nothing all day or join some of the activities around. And finally the room has exactly what you would like in the jungle: a good bed, everything well cleaned, warm water and insect screens that actually work.

Stunning location”

One of the only choices of accommodation that is located right next to the beach in this area. Cabins are pretty basic inside but were very clean. We were a pair of friends sharing a Ribbon Cabin which was down near the restaurant & beach. The cheaper options are further up the hill but still not far. There were a lot of backpackers staying and a lot of tour groups that come through to use the restaurant in the daytime but is was still a nice vibe even for the more independent holiday makers. To get the most out of staying in the area you definitely need your own car. We had 3 days and felt that was plenty of time to see and do the activities in the Cape Trib region.

Air conditioned beach cabins beautifully presented, excellent staff and great atmosphere.”

Pros - cabin on the beach in a rainforest setting. Fanstqstic restaurant quality food, large servings and good prices. No mozzies, great atmosphere, very quiet. Excellent staff service. Very friendly. Pool is fantastic. Cons- a pool table would have been nice. Pool is very steep to get into no railings or steps out Overall cons are limited throroughly enjoyed our stay we even extended by a night.

Very basic accommodation right by the beach”

Close to the beach

To reach this place, you have to drive about 3km past Cape Tribulation on unpaved road. We stayed in a double room, in a cabin with two other rooms and shared bathroom/kitchen facilities. At night, we could hear everything that was going on in the common area. There was a a big puddle of water on the bathroom floor the entire time we were there. It felt like camping, but actually I thought it was kind of cool to be waken up in the middle of the night by the sound of a cassowary right outside our window! I would have liked to pay less for this room, though, considering how basic it was. It was fine, but it wasn't good value for money.

Rainforest Getaway on the beach”

On arrival, parking was easy to access and free, staff were lovely and check-in was straight forward and room was ready early. You need to expect to walk about 300m to you cabin. When booking the cabin, I didn't realise the it was actually split into 4 rooms, 2 each side with a shared deck. Room was clean, but dark and aircon was loud and didn't work very well however had a good night sleep on the bed and the Louvres kept all the light out. No issues with bugs which I was expecting so that was good. As you walk past all cabins down the hill is a restaurant which is beautifully set out with a big deck and pool is right there too along with the beach access tight behind. You can't swim in ocean due to Crocs but it's a nice beach to walk along. I would stay again but wouldnt pay anymore than $100 for the night.

Amazing”

Friendly Staff, Activities, Location

It was awesome, we wanted to stay somewhere basic but not camping, we wanted electricity and hot water, private bathroom. The rooms are basic but all you need, the best of both worlds, Middle of the rainforest but on the doorstep of the ocean. Heaps of fun activities and very affordable prices for families with young children. Restaurant food and drinks is very competitive and the portion sizes is way to big. Staff was super friendly and gone out of their way to help and accommodate us. O yes it is not mouse droppings it is Geco droppings, but you are in tropical Queensland what did you expect. A must visit and 2 days is not long enough Thank you for a great weekend, we will be back. Joachim & Janet Pieters South Africa

Best of Beach and Rain forest”

Ideal location, friendly staff lots of wold life.

Rooms neat and tidy. Fairly comfortable. Fan and air conditioner if its particularly hot. We were there early May and did not need the air con. You are living right in the rain forest with the beach on your door step. Fantastic night walks. You can cater for yourself with on site kitchen facilities or go to the bar and bistro for meals. The kitchen was not very busy, has toaster cooker micro and hot water for coffee and tea. The room has a fridge but if you need more space then you can use the share kitchen fridges. We booked barrier reef snorkel trip half day magic!

location, friendly staff and atmosohere, bang for your buck

It was a pleasant stay. The lodging is basic but clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. From assisting in planning and booking events, to hanging out by the fire in the evening in the beach. The location is great with a beach that is practically private there are so few on it. Over all a great place to stay and experience both the rainforest and the great barrier reef.

Amazing location ”

Location is incredible, decent rooms, good self-catering options.

Very nice indeed. Unbeatable locale, good room rates and having the option of being able to self cater is a very attractive option to a family of five on a budget. Service was a little cool to start with but that may have been due to business being brisk the first day. It got much friendlier the second and third day. Booked activities through them, went off without a hitch. Great housekeeping, they have a lot to deal with between the beach and rainforest and keep everything clean. Have already recommended to friends.

Excellent”

Whilst the Site has a young vibe we, as a retired couple were welcomed and made to feel at home. The location of our St Crispen cabin was superb with a 50 metre walk through forest canopy to a superb pristine beach. The English bar staff are professional, friendly and respectful. The accommodation was well designed, functionally and aesthetically. Generally a memorable experience in an extraordinary location. Well done.

Mind blowing location ”

We were upgraded to a cabin facing the beach and probably as isolated in the rainforest as it could be. The cabins are simple but very clean, comfortable and provide the most amazing experience of sleeping where the jungle meets the sea without the hazards of bugs or being overexposed to the elements. I would stay here over a fancy resort anytime, it's a truely beautiful spot.

Peace in the wilderness”

Love the rainforest. Cabins nicely set up with professional lovely shower toiletries. Meals very generous. In fact we shared a main a couple of times and the staff offered an extra plate and cutlery. The beach is right there, fabulous. Be prepared for an earlier than usual bedtime as no TV. But, this was the beauty of it all. Loved the jungle-surfing, the kids did better that some grown ups. You should do this once in your life

Not great value for money”

The beach,

Communication with this hotel is difficult. They don't reply to emails, and rarely reply to the telephone. We knew that we were going to be late arriving, after their reception closes (which is pretty early), and wanted to know where we would be able to pick up the key. No response to email, and no one answered the phone, for the two hours leading up to when reception closed. The key was in an envelope outside reception, so all was fine, but it was frustrating to not know. Dining is poor and overpriced. Breakfast is buffet - $11 for the use of a toaster, some white bread, spreads, drinks and some cereal. The location is nice, but not particularly convenient. If you want to do any tours from Daintree village, it's at least an hour each way to get there, and you have to pay for the ferry. The beach is great though, and you'll have it to yourself a lot of the time. Being in the jungle is as expected - fantastic, but then there are other places you can stay in the jungle.
